Keith Urban likes The Truth: "One aspiring young artist in particular who stands out to Keith is American Idol's Season 8 winner, Kris Allen. The two performed a duet of Keith's 'Kiss a Girl' during the show's final performance, impressing the country superstar so much that he's now looking to collaborate with Kris in the studio.
"He's got a great new song out right now which I really love," Keith raves. "And I love playing with him. His management reached out to ours, and we thought it would be a good combination. So I'd like to figure out a song we could do together!"

^ He might be referring to LLWD though.
But regardless, I'd love a collaboration between Kris and Keith Urban.

^ But LLWD is nearing a year old, I doubt he'd really still be calling that new even if this interview was today or 3 months ago.

Boston is a great start on CHR. I wonder who else adds this next Tuesday.

Quit talking about Adam on this f**kin thread. Talk about him somewhere else. Hey, I've got an idea! Talk about him on a thread that begins with "Adam Lambert . . . "

In Adam's case, being openly gay and single has gotten him tabloid and papparazzi attention which has transferred to mainstream media attention and gotten him exposure on some national talk shows. "Who is he dating?", "Does he consider himself a spokesman for gay artists?" You can't deny that being gay has opened some doors for him. Clay Aiken got lots of media attention after coming out as gay and he appered on national talk shows but it didn't help his album sales at all. He actually lost a lot of fans and his album only sold about 150000 copies. I'm a bit disappointed in Adam's international success so far. They invested a lot in launching him overseas, but WWFM has mostly been a big airplay hit with sales not convincingly backing it up. I'm sorry but you are talking BS. WWFM keeps selling well on iTunes in several countries and reaching top 10 in 8 countries is nothing to cry about. clays sales were already tumbling down and continuing to get worse with every album

I thought he sounded great and sung the song the best he could. Cause with this song it can either be good or not so good lol. And the main issue is the range(chrous) which is slightly above his comfort zone but he brought it to his level tonight which I knew he would. Interested to see how it does on itunes. Of course Idol effed him over again because you know Pants on the ground or William Hung was preferable to even giving a one sec interview to your reigning idol. But whatever, par for the course with idol.

Nice! Loved the performance!
So basicallythis got 1 pop add this week, so we shouldn't really be seeing any big increases, in fact I predict that all this week we will get no bigger numbers than +20 :(

Kris gave a really nice performance on the Idol finale. Nice of the stupid director to leave Ryan's mike open for the first couple lines of the song, though (jeez)
Both The Truth and Kris's album have gottn boosts from the performance. TT is up to #246 on overall and #92 on pop chart on iTunes -- it was out of the Top 1000 on the overall list the other day. Meanhile the album, which I think was in the 500's on the overall chart has moved up to #161 -- and #28 on pop chart

Good to see that Boston added this early! Oh and, Live Like We're Dying - #10, Whataya Want From Me - #13. So it's Kris 1-0 Adam on CHR/Pop format.

Interesting that it's the album version that's charting at #189 on iTunes and the Pat version is at #982, while it's #256 on pop and the album version is #79 there.
Maybe people looking to purchase TT couldn't distinguish much difference between the two versions from the preview-plays on iTunes, so they chose to get the longer version? Then once the album version started charting higher, a lot of other people just go with the version charting highest when they search Kris Allen.

I sort of wish it had more airplay before the performance, but honestly, I'm just happy he got to perform something.

If things were otherwise (LLWD peaking with its spin peak when WWFM peaked and WWFM peaking with its spin peak when LLWD peaked,) WWFM would have been #10 and LLWD wouldn't have reached the top 10. WWFM just had worse timing but the spins difference at the peak between them was almost nothing. And, Kworb, sorry, but the reduced price for WWFM in Itunes in Germany was removed after like a week and WWFM still remained at #1 for a while there afterwards with full price.. little details.

^ LOL I totally knew the Adamstans would come out, jump all over and defend that. I don't see why people have to fight over & compare Adam & Kris. Both of them are so talented and successful in their own target audience. Is it because the Adam fans are still bitter about losing out on the AI title? I actually thought that losing out is a huge gain for Adam. Now he can create the music he wants and not being tie down by the label/management like Kris is.

I suggest everyone ignore the fanwar bait. Leave the talk about each artist in their own thread. As a fan of both Kris and Adam, I hate finding this thread full of stuff not pertaining at all to The Truth and its airplay. Aren't there more positive things to do?

How yummy did he look at the finale?! I loved the performance. It's not an easy song to sing and Kris nailed it!

The endless cycle of "Well, Kris did X better than Adam's Y sooooo" "NUH UH, Kris only did X better than Adam's Y because of A, B, and C! Also, D is super homophobic" is growing tiresome.
Anyway, I thought Kris's performance on Idol was pretty good. The band explosion on the chorus wasn't as overpowering as I thought it was going to be, so I'm relieved just by that.

I enjoyed Kris's performance of The Truth on the Idol finale tonight. The Truth may not be the easiest song to perform live but thankfully Kris has sung it many times and he didn't let the nerves get to him.
I'm looking forward to seeing the effect this has on sales and spins for The Truth. It's so fun to finally have another song to track after LLWD. I'm nowhere near discussing whether The Truth will hit the Top 10 like LLWD but I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility.

Kris did a good job on Idol with this song though I wish "Before We Come Undone" or "Can't Stay Away" had been the 2nd single.

Question: Do you think that The Truth makes Kris more "credible" in the music industry as compared to more boppy tunes like AWM, CSA? Kris is well liked by other artists such as Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Jamie Foxx, etc. - would a song like The Truth give him a chance to be nominated for a Grammy (which is decided by peers, right)?

^ No and no. If anything he is losing credibility for releasing yet another song he didn't write and for putting Pat on the track.

Not doing that well on Itunes, but the finale is always a night full of performances, and he was one of the first to sing. Oh well.

I didn't really expect the jump to be that impressive on iTunes since most people are only hearing the song for the first time yesterday. And yeah..... true to his Idol days, he's always one of the first to perform

I didn't expect it to be impressive, but I thought it could reach the top 100. I don't think that will be happening now.
LOL yeah, but I think that's how they usual do it, no? I remember Cook was the first last year.

Yep- Kris's performance was handled exactly the same way returning winners have always been handled in the finales- first, quick, and with no fanfare. Can't blame the lack of an Idol bump on this- it's just a crappy song.
