"Bad Romance" is the best dance song since "Hung Up" i kinda agree with this. Even though Bad Romance is the better "song" structurally, Hung Up will remain more iconic in the long run...at least worldwide. It's basically Madonna's biggest worldwide hit vs. Lady Gaga's most iconic hit. Wasn't Poker Face a bigger hit? but i agree. They are comparable. In terms of impact, at least. let me put it to you this way: there was a time when Hung Up came out, and regardless of it's US airplay stature, i could literally walk into any gay bar across America and it would be blaring on every speaker in every room at the bar, all in unison. It made a HUGE impact in the gay community, charts or no charts. I don't think Bad Romance came even close to it, but in terms of the charts, it did. Time will tell... sure i'll get some rebuttals saying no no no, Lady Gaga's is more iconic. But coming from firsthand experience, Hung Up was a bonafide US smash, regardless of the airplay charts. It lit the place up, it made people order more drinks, it made people dance. It made people say.."fugg it, i'll stay a little while longer"

^^But...I hear Bad Romance in straight bars A LOT more often than I heard Hung up in the same places.

I think comparing Bad Romance to Hung Up and Poker Face is hard. There are arguments I can think of that make each the "bigger" or more "iconic" hit. I will just be satisfied saying that that all three are excellent songs deserving of being massive worldwide hits.

Unless a decade of offshore pop music happened to pass you by, The Fame is a highly unsatisfying LP.

Unless a decade of offshore pop music happened to pass you by, The Fame is a highly unsatisfying LP. Why even go offshore? One can find better domestic mainstream pop albums than The Fame without ever applying for a passport.

There was definitely some filler - if she ended the album at Brown Eyes, it'd be much better overall.

o1. Just Dance o2. Poker Face o3. LoveGame o4. Paparazzi o5. The Fame o6. Money Honey o7. No Way o8. Fever o9. Out Of Control 1o. I Like It Rough 11. Starstruck 12. Paper Gangsta 13. Reloaded 14. Brown Eyes 15. Fooled Me Again

Vanity and Fashion instead of BDR and Brown Eyes, that's what i woulda done. lol All four songs should have never seen the light of day. The least crowd-pleasing numbers at The Monster Ball were non-singles sprung from The Fame era. And judging by how GaGa deliberately skimmed them - anxious to get to the acclaimed TFM performances, I assume - we were on the same page.

What's wrong with Brown Eyes and BDR? I agree with the other two, though.

The songs I liked on the Fame other than the singles were Beautiful, Dirty, Rich, The Fame, Paper Gangsta, Eh Eh, and Starstruck. Honestly, better than most debut cds-9 good songs to me puts it on par with other pop debuts by similar pop breakouts. Of course, all my personal opinion since I am sure someone will have tons of pop debuts that they think had ALL great songs or whatever. I always just end updisliking at least 4-5 songs from debut cds though.

The Fame really wasn't very good. The singles (minus LoveGame) were solid, and I liked Eh Eh, but other than that...bleh.
The Fame Monster was like an improved version of The Fame.

'The Fame' was all about having money, living a glamorous lifestyle and of course, sexual desire. 'The Fame Monster' in contrast explored a much different side of Gaga, and rather than making a record about making people feel good, the album exposed much darker themes. As the two albums differ in this way, they go together.
I believe the next album is going to head in a completely different direction. She isn't going to go back and do the same thing again, or expand on the previous material because the whole 'fame' thing is done. The title is 'Born This Way' and as Gaga stated, "IT IS THE ANTHEM FOR OUR GENERATION", which leads me to believe that the album will be all about self-empowerment, acceptance, equality and determination.

I actually believe that debut albums are usually one of any artists best. They have a nearly infinite amount of time to work on it if so they wish (...except idols.). Ke$ha worked on "Animal" for YEARS and it turned out amazing.
However, I prefer TFM over The Fame.

i wouldn't say she looks good. All that bling is so distracting and tired, imo. Love the nails, tho.

Vanity and Fashion instead of BDR and Brown Eyes, that's what i woulda done. lol Agree...but instead of taking out BDR I'd take out Summerboy. Vanity & Fashion are two of my favorites from The Fame era. The least crowd-pleasing numbers at The Monster Ball were non-singles sprung from The Fame era. And judging by how GaGa deliberately skimmed them - anxious to get to the acclaimed TFM performances, I assume - we were on the same page. I didn't see too many people into Monster. It seemed like it was just there.

Around here, people go wild for LoveGame more than anything else from The Fame. Even at the concert in Charlottesville, people went MAD and CRAZY when the beat started for LoveGame. It's actually my favorite single to dance to from The Fame. It's so infectious.

Otherwise, it's a pretty solid debut pop album.

Kesha took years because she did different genres of music first. Like, I think that album changed from a country cd to a rock cd to finally the cd we actually got. And, it worked-I doubt it would have been as successful if she did those other genres. Overall, it is a fairly solid pop debut cd. In some ways, more consistent than others. I do think it gets fairly same-soundey at points though and wish some of the demos had made it over the ones that did make it.
When I think of debut cds considering pop artists I rarely find them the best-Britney Spears BOMT her best cd good from first to last song? No. Christina's debut could cut half the songs and no one would care. Katy Perry's debut that was awesome halfway. Gaga another one. Rihanna's debut cd is definitely not her best. Kelly Clarkson's was fun and great, but her best???
There are counterexamples to that but I don't think it is unheard of for baby pop artists to release cds where they have epic singles and some epic album gems, but then also some filler that 5 years later even fans won't care about. Like, I don't see anyone roaring about how they wish Britney would perform random debut album tracks or Rihanna fans wishing she would ditch new cd stuff for deep cuts on her debut lol.

I guess I just remember the days when artists didn't take years to assemble something so generic.
