That is one thing I really appreciate about her. Even some of the best pop cds out there have a few tracks that feel like mindless generic filler to me. There are no tracks on Gaga's cd (except maybe the Queen lol) that feel that way to me. Even if I don't like it they all have something that sets them apart and makes me think a lot of care went into the song. I cannot imagine cutting any from the main cd either. The flow would feel off.

I always always always hate to say an opinion is biased (lazy way to disagree with someone) but I don't see any other explanation for people declaring the cd a sales flop while shrieking praises of cd sales that have sold less in a much, much longer time. Like, there is no logical explanation except no one wants to admit the cd is a smash in sales so far because it is Gaga.


I will be somewhat disappointed if the era is pretty much done though. Like, if TEOG is the last smash we get and it doesn't really sell much more. It would be nice if she could get another hit or two and sell 7-8 million worldwide.

You could just come out and say Katy. As a fan of Gaga AND Katy, I think Gaga's sold incredibly well.

In regards to her tweet, I'm thinking she's shipped 5 million and she's just saying sold. Didn't it just cross 3 million worldwide, or almost?

Yeah I am assuming she has shipped 5 million and "just" sold 3 million+ but 3 million+ is still pretty impressive for one month. It isn't just Katy either-I see people here praising albums that have sold anywhere from 1-4 million worldwide as the biggest hits ever, but call Gaga a flop. It baffles me. For the record, I do think selling millions worldwide is a big accomplishment so I am not trying to diminish what other artists have done or sold. It just confuses me that Gaga doing just as much or more in a month is considered a huge flop disappointment

24 million seems a tad embellished, but she has sold a lot. The Fame was a solid seller by itself, then you add in the re-release, the EP sales, the remix album which sold 500K+ and then 5 million shipped for BTW...24 million may not even be that much of a stretch.

According to the United World Chart (whose accuracy is disputed, but it's a good estimate):

Born This Way - 1x platinum
The Fame (Monster) - 6x platinum

So those two alone range from 14 million to 18 million.

The Remix and The Fame Monster EP might be another 2 million.

Let's say 16 million to 20 million. So 24 million is a bit of a stretch but not out of the question by the time this era wraps up.

Lady Gaga in Tokyo to help boost tourism



Tokyo (CNN) -- Japan's sagging tourism industry couldn't have asked for a better ambassador than one of the world's biggest entertainment stars, Lady Gaga.

Wearing an aquamarine wig but an otherwise demure black outfit, the pop sensation held a news conference with Japan's tourism agency commissioner and the U.S. ambassador to Japan. The group urged tourists to return to Japan.

"I would like to use my position here today and all week long to run around Tokyo enjoy the beautiful city and kiss all the beautiful little monsters and scream at the top of my lungs that everyone should come visit this beautiful place," said Lady Gaga, before a crowd of Japanese and international cameras and reporters.

Japan's tourism has been hammered by the March 11th earthquake, tsunami and ongoing crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, tourism began to plunge on March 12th. Tourism fell 73% as compared to March 2010.

In April, tourism dropped 62.5% as compared to April the year before. In May, the tourism organization reported tourism was still down 50.4% as compared to May 2010.

U.S. ambassador to Japan, John Roos, appeared gaga over Lady Gaga, beaming as he stood by her side. The ambassador, who has personally championed the return of tourists to Japan, said the singer will help spread this message around the world.

"This morning I had breakfast with some think tank experts, U.S.-Japan experts, who said to me, Mr. Ambassador, 'What can we do in order to strengthen the strategic, economic and people to people relations between Japan and the United States?' And I had one answer, Lady Gaga," said Roos.

Lady Gaga is in Japan for the MTV Video Music Awards Japan. This year, MTV renamed the awards ceremony, Video Music Aid Japan. The awards show is on Saturday and will be broadcast live to an estimated 30 million households in Japan, Korea, Singapore and China.

Award winners are determined by fans. For each fan vote, says MTV, 10 yen, or approximately 12 U.S. cents, will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

Lady Gaga, who has raised money for Japanese relief efforts as well as donating more than a million dollars personally, says she hopes the island nation will recover from the historic disaster.

"I am always so inspired when I come to Japan, inspired by the spirit, the passion, the love, the absolutely infectious joy of Tokyo," she said.


“I believe it’s time to look forward now,” Gaga continued as she sipped tea from a porcelain tea cup, which she said she would auction off to raise funds for the Red Cross. - GGD

This album was hyped practically as the second comming.

I do have to say the Gagaville promotion was one of the best I have seen since playing. EVERY decoration was amazing. My friend signed up for farmville just because she wanted the Pierced Pink Pony LOL.

The Gagaville items are pretty damn boss, tbh. I feel like an idiot for selling my electric chapel because I ran out of space on my farm. :'( This was about three or four weeks ago when I was still a Farmville noob and didn't realized that all I had to do was buy a storage shed and stick it in there or wait until I had enough neighbors to expand.
