I am surprised by You and I's sales versus TEOG. I honestly feel like You and I will end up around 2 million in sales and not that far under TEOG, but TEOG was a MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger hit overall. Like, I think it doubled You and I's audience. Did people really hate that TEOG video that much or did You and I just resonate more than we thought?

I think You and I had great first week sales because fans knew it from the Monster Ball. I also think she pimped Y&I more on shows, etc..., plus it was performed on Idol when it wasn't even a single yet. But yeah, I'm really surprised TEOG sales aren't higher. That's why she needed that damn Grammy submission! I honestly believe TEOG is one of the, if not the best, GaGa singles to date.

She should have a decent Christmas. She has a lot of product out that will probably sell decently.

Look like 1) Gaga 26k 2) Beyonce 17k 3) Britney 16k I'm surprised it is that close.

I didn't really even see the Monster Ball DVD and the Remix album promoted, and honestly even mentioned by GaGa...so I'd say they did well.

I have a feeling this album will be on a lot of kids' Christmas lists so we'll see a steady sales increase over these next few weeks, compared to what it has been selling prior to the holidays.

Every artist in the world (with the exception of three or four) would shit themselves for an era like this. So proud of Gaga. 2x Platinum in only 6 months is really, really good.

I screamed when she got nominated. I definitely was not sure it would get nominated.

So, the second best selling cd of the year behind Adele, 5+ million sold worldwide 7-8 shipped, 4 top 10 hits with one staying at #1 for 6 weeks, and an AOTY nomination. Yep she is definitely over.
I am almost (not quite though) more excited about the You and I nomination. Such a great song and deserved more airplay-wise. It deserves to be recognized as a unique, poignant offering from a pop artist.

Do some still act like the Grammys are some grand representation of the best in music? We should know by now that that's not the case. :) However, among mainstream, successful acts, BTW surely deserves the nomination. I don't think the album will be near the top of the critical consensus for year-end lists, though- but those don't get broadcast and seen by 20 million or more viewers, so...

The Grammys are the best we have as far as music awards... They might not be foolproof but it's all we have :/

Take every opinion with a pinch of salt. Whether people agree or disagree with the nominees, it's done and can't be changed. Look forward to seeing GaGa and the other artists at the show.

I didn't really see anyone acting like it was a "grand representation of great music" anyway It isn't bizarre for fans to be happy for artists being nominated.

She is very talented and works her behind off. She deserved her nods. Why isn't she able to qualify for the dance categories now?
That is ridiculous. Barbara isn't directly just dance at all. Infact, that isn't even really her genre.

Lady GaGa's best video, especially given how autographical and raw it is. I LOOOOVED the dance studio scene but I loved it all in general. I've heard people say GaGa isn't that great of a dancer. I don't see artists who are supposedly known for their dancing skills nailing that level of complicated choreography, even in their prime. The video made me crave a full-length Blu-Ray feature film of GaGa, with her songs thrown in for good measure, a la Animal Collective or Arcade Fire or even The Who.

If they didn't submit her into those categories, then obviously she won't be nominated. But if they did and tried to make it trend towards pure Dance artists, then there isn't much that can be done. In the Dance/Electronic music world, many have been unhappy that major artists that aren't pure Dance genrewise were getting all or most of the nominations and winning those awards. It looks like they are finally trying to fix it a bit.

Girl, Gaga doesn't demonstrate any type of dance skill. Let's not get crazy. She can do choreography.

She recorded alot of Born This Way on her tour buses during her last tour so it's not impossible. I could see her taking a few weeks off the tour to get the next album properly promoted and reconfigure her setlist during the next leg. She really is the most ambitious artist of our time and I'm thrilled that this will truly be the best show possible for all of her fans including myself.
