There is a rumor that the cd will have 18-20 tracks. I am all for it, but people get in incredibl bothered by longer cds so maybe its a bad idea? I would be all for that.

So would I-I never understood why people were like OMG THIS ARTIST IS GIVING US MORE MUSIC I HATE IT NOOOOOOOOO. If you don't like a few tracks then cut them out. I don't believe anyone here who tells me they don't have the ability to remove a few songs from the playlist on your Itunes or Ipod

I don't believe anyone here who tells me they don't have the ability to remove a few songs from the playlist on your Itunes or Ipod There's always the concern that an album with that many songs could be incredibly inconsistent, with like 6 to 8 really strong ones and then the rest are just filler. True, we can choose to purchase the ones we like or add only the ones we like to our iTunes/iPods. But if the reviews of the album are really negative, and the amount of fillerish songs is the contributing factor, it could affect the sales of the album. This is just in general. There are always exceptions to that.

I think the album probably will be great for GaGa. Whether it will be great for (or as) pop music in general, may take several years until anybody can truely claim that, IMO.
But of course GaGa and Co. will claim, as they are now. lol
Meanwhile, i was hoping BTW would be a double album with one disc her piano-pop/rock songs and the other her usual dance-pop stuff. I doubt we will, but with 20 tracks, i still am hoping...

People only get bothered because the 18-20 track albums usually have a lot of filler. That, however, is subjective. If it's as solid as The Fame Monster, then I don't care. Haha

Even TFM had filler. DITD & SHID = filler, imo.

Even TFM had filler. DITD & SHID = filler, imo. I suppose, but they were still pretty good tracks. They just paled in comparison to the rest of the album.

DITD is complete trash, imo. SHID is okay. LOL! To each their own then. I enjoy both, but I definitely think those 2 are the weakest on the album. I'm basically just trying to say a 18-20 track album is usually loaded with filler. Which is why most people don't enjoy them. Its just, the more tracks you include, the more chances you have to have a track "disappoint" someone. However, it could also be 18-20 tracks of amazingness. I'm just gonna wait and see. I really don't care at the end. As long as I like the majority of the album, I will be fine. OH and if its 18-20 tracks I pray we don't get like 6 fuckin interludes. I hate that shit! lol

Dance In The Dark is pure pop genius. Speachless is the only flat track IMO.

An 18 track CD is a good idea if it's all good material and they're thinking it's something that can potentially be used for a couple of years (it's in essence, a CD and a re-release at the same time). I think it's fairly dangerous if the first single or two are not hits, because the entire CD could potentially be scrapped. If it's consistent and a sound/production that can remain hot for a couple of years, I see no problem with it.

eh, it's too much. First we get basically 7 straight singles, now we'll get 10? It's just overkill. I think it's a bad idea, i'd much prefer an EP or a regular cd.

Who said we would get 10 singles though? Adding TF & TFM together and you have 22 tracks. So we had 7 songs out of 22 released. So I could see about 6 or 7 again.

An album that long will inevitably drag whether she maintains consistency or not and I don't think she will. Singles aside, The Fame in particular wasn't that good. Why can't she be a bit more cut-throat and have around 13 brilliant songs? Not everybody creams themselves over anything she touches regardless of its quality.

There are always exceptions to that. Kind of how I see it. I think albums that are too long just feel like they drag on and it's harder to get into the songs if there's too much to take in. It's why I've never really been able to get into most Tori Amos' albums from the last ten years and the main downfall of Alanis Morissette's second album. Although with GaGa, I think I'm okay with it. I'm anticipating it so much that I'm okay if there are a few tracks I don't like as much.

TFM had no filler imo. I enjoyed every single track. I wouldn't mind having 2-3 fillers in Born This Way, if there are like 15 great tracks

Everyone always says that longer cds are "loaded with filler" but then if you look at examples of longer cds no fans can agree what is considered filler or not. Like, everyone loves different songs and would be pissed by any of them being cut. I think offering something for a lot of different people is a good thing rather than cutting 8-10 that an entire half of your fanbase would have loved. Like, I probably would have cut Monster on the EP and DITD and SHICD are two of my favorites. If I titled Monster as filler and cut it I am sure a lot of fans would have liked the EP less. I don't care much about critics either. I will continue to support getting longer cds where I love 12-15 rather than short 10-12 track cds where I may only like 7-8 depending on choices. It is a quantity thing to me-if I like an artist and they rock then I am assuming I will like a certain percentage of what they release so I am cool with them releasing more rather than less.
The only exception would be if they are literally tacking on uninspired, passion-less songs for some reason. Lady Gaga has never seemed like the tack on random, passion-less, worthless, generic songs type artist to me. Same with a few of my other artists. If Kelly or Pink wanted to release a 20 song cd I would be like YES CHRISTMAS TIME FOR LOVE PLASTIC LOVEE!!!!!

A 20 track album is entirely plausible, not all of them have to be 3 minutes+ single potential. I can see her throwing in some shorter more poetic things in here possibly just to flesh out the album more. I'm hoping she does another EP for this era too so she can release more singles.

The only thing that I'm afraid is she's having an album with 20 tracks, just to have 10 of the generic pop/rock generic 60's ballad like Speechless and You and I... She needs to step up with those ones IMHO

"Speechless" is her best record IMO. That and "Honest Eyes" are really underrated. Her electro-pop stuff gets really clawing after awhile...

20 tracks would be awesome. Id say about an 8 single era. i would want to say more, but i cant think of any eras that have had 9 singles, and thats prbly b/c its overload. Thanks to Rihanna we know 8 singles is doable. every single from that era went top 51 on the hot 100. 3 of which hit number 1. i think gaga could do similar. i also agree that throwing in some songs that clock in around 2:45 wouldnt be a bad idea.
