She could release an 8-track every 6 months with a single or two from each one!

Haven't left the studio. Each song I write, I feel closer to you. Miss you little monsters, little inspirations. X

She was just in Portland last night performing. Wonder if her studio is on the bus?

so Lady Gaga was a pretty incredible show. There were some really great parts...Poker Face was awesome, Bad Romance was the encore, and she had a lot of cool shit to say. She talked a lot about gay people, and about getting fucked up. But on the flip side, her ballads were awful, and there were times I was bored. I think she's stuck with dance music. The ballad sound just doesn't do it for me. I wanted to dance, but there was a huge section of the show that was just boring. Plus there weren't any visuals. I wanted big screens and statements being made, but that didn't happen. All in all, it was a great show, but she's certainly no Madonna. I don't think anyone can be really. Madonna is just an all-around force. She's like a visual sensation. Lady Gaga was just performing. She didn't incorporate any visual statement behind her. Maybe i'm just spoiled by Madonna, i don't know. It was a great show tho.
I give the show a B

And yes, give GaGa some time, and eventually she'll be able to put a concert together with the kind of video presentation that Madonna can afford to do. It took Madonna time to get to that kind of visual spectacle and grandiosity.

I love how people take an artist who has been here for 2 years, and compare them to Madonna at her peak (which was well past 2 years into her career). lol Unfair much?

Was the big squid monster at your show for Paparazzi?

Yes the monster was there, that was a great part. And yes, there were some visuals, but it was very minimal.
Of course I can compare, it's natural to do so.

People do it all the time too. If anything it is a compliment though. Lady Gaga is one of the few artists out there that CAN be compared to Madonna at her touring peak 20 years or more into her career compared to Gaga's 2 years

The show I saw was all about the visuals. The interludes, the subway, the monster, the statue the dress... it was a spectacle.

Maybe I was just too drunk, lol. My friend almost got kicked out she was so wasted. I think she spent half the show puking in the bathroom. I lost her the entire time.

I'm thinking June is looking ideal because of her tour.

i agree. If she comes out with an album with guitars, she'll flop. The sound just doesn't suit her. I think she's kinda stuck.

I wouldn't say she's stuck. Guitars weren't the problem on Speechless. It was the fact that it sounded dated and too generic and simple. There were remixes and such of Paparazzi that had guitars and it sounded amazing. Its not the guitars. IMO, its the songs themselves that happen to have guitars in them that suck.
Not to mention, I don't think that poster was meaning "more guitars" to mean "more songs like Speechless". Uptempos can have guitars as well. I do think GaGa's voice and everything is more suited for standard type stuff rather than rock type stuff though. I wouldn't say she's "stuck", but I wouldn't say she's free to do whatever either.

i almost feel that her lead single from her new album needs to be some sort of power ballad or something. I don't know if it's the wisest decision to start off...again...with a huge dance song, cuz that will further catagorize her as a one-dimentional singles artist. I think the vast majority only knows her by her dance songs, so if you keep releasing them, ur gonna wind up the next Kylie.
and if the 2nd single is also a dance song...well...then she's screwed.

I wouldn't say the problem is guiters in general but getting the right people to produce them. i believe that Speechless had the potential to be a decent recording if Ron Fair hadn't tried to lay some mid-1970s Elton John regurgitation on it. I still maintain that what she should be concentrating on is trying to write a slower song that can work on the radio, she will need that once the current club-influenced trend lessens.

I wouldn't say the problem is guiters in general but getting the right people to produce them. It certainly isn't but I've come to expect the notion from pop listeners that music that may not feature guitar-strumming, so to speak, and instead relies heavily on studio gadgetry isn't all that credible. An age-old concern; nothing new here. i believe that Speechless had the potential to be a decent recording if Ron Fair hadn't tried to lay some mid-1970s Elton John regurgitation on it. Had Ron Fair had any part in "Brown Eyes"? Reason I ask is because the impression I get is it's GaGa whose ballad ambitions are confined to the Elton 'regurgitations' & others like it.

I'm pretty sure "Brown Eyes" was Rob Fusari, but you do further the point I made about her available catalog not having a well-written song below a certain bpm. I agree with the point you made and I'd say had she not confined herself to the stereotypical 1970s singer-songwriter style when it came to balladry, she could actually put out a decent one. Unfortunately, if You And I was anything to go by, we haven't seen the last of those mistakes...

Unfortunately, if You And I was anything to go by, we haven't seen the last of those mistakes... Which I find so incredibly ironic considering the material she's alleged to have recorded for her third release is described, in one word, as "shocking." Yeah, not quite.
