"I am fulfilled with the work I have done with choreographing all of the iconic moves, creative directing the artist, appearances, shows, directing the tour, music videos, and the HBO Monster Ball, which was a culmination of my work as its creator and director. Recently, Lady Gaga was motivated to take the helm of the creative direction of her career and as such I decided to step away. I am extremely proud of her, and in stepping away I wish her all the best. I look forward to continuing my work with notable artists, as well as new artists that are part of my Interscope Records deal, and the upcoming seasons of my TV shows." - Laurieann Gibson

I hope 'MTN' will be HUGE for her in the sales department. She seriously need a hit to sell that album.

I hope 'MTN' will be HUGE for her in the sales department. She seriously need a hit to sell that album. It's almost sold 2 million copies in the US and 5(?) million worldwide. Katy Perry hasn't even reached that feat yet and she's had 5 #1 singles from her album. I'd say it has sold fine so far. I would like sales to pick up, yes, but EVEN if they didn't, it's done well.

BTW is #70 this week while TD is #73 & considering the fact that TD has been out for more than a year compared to Gaga's which hasnt even been out for 6 months ... that doesnt look good at all Gaga may have got to her sales faster but everyone knows her first week/Amazon 99c deal had a big chunk to do with that. its now prompted Billboard to question that type of strategy & they even changed their rules this week to not allow deeply discounted albums to count on their chart b/c they said its not a just way to determine sales

Listening to this album for the first time. Not really a fan so far. As of right now I only like MTN, TEOG, Hair, Bloody Mary, and Fashion Of His Love.

Yes, both Gaga & katy are doing ok, but it could be better, especially seeing how both of them had hits &/or promo. Katy should had been 2x platinum a LONG time go. I'm not bashing Gaga. I love her. Just want her to step it up a bit.

How do you think her next era should go? I personally think she should combine pop with some metal elements and do a crossover era.

I guess my point is album sales for pop stars aren't much anymore. My point with Katy was that considering her massive success, the fact that the album hasn't sold 2 million copies yet is disappointing. On the other hand, the fact that GaGa has sold the same amount in less time with songs that haven't been as "big" is saying something about GaGa and her fans. Had it not been for the re-release of The Fame, the album would have gone 3x platinum and thats it, and that's with 4 #1 Pop hits off of the album.

Isn't this conversation a little tired already? I don't believe I've had the opportunity to push forward my twenty cents so I suppose this is a good opportunity for me to do so. Born This Way has been a smashing success by any measureable length especially for an album that is clearly not commercial; her statistics speak for itself (I feel compelled to re-post them for you but they've been posted). I feel trying to pull comparisons or excuses out of the air is only an unreasonable attempt to diminish her achievements with this album. That is it.
What people are expecting from Lady Gaga is for her to be the best. They want her to be at the top. This can be very hard for an artist whose act has rooted itself deeply in controversy, and that loosely entails negative objection from conservative listeners. The fact of the matter is, some of the members of this board are discussing this album like it desperately needs a hit to survive. It doesn't. This album is not the type to click with the general buying public. It is a mature subject, non-commercial album that has achieved the sales of some very commercially-oriented albums.
---
Now, I'm more interested in catfang's question. For her next era, I would be very interested in another change of direction. She has recently been introducing a newer acoustic and rock oriented act and I can't help but wonder if her new content will take less of an electronic and dance feel and tend towards a pop and rock influenced sound. Gaga is frightfully unpredictable at this point and I'm looking forward to the best!

Apparently some (very stupid, and yes, they DO exist!) GaGa fans have been insulting Adele's weight on Twitter and GaGa has responded negatively toward them.
Good for her. Bad for those fans. They suck!

Thanks for posting, Bibliotheque. :)
The Adele controversy happened during the VMA's nominations announcement but was once again brought up by some media outlets when Gaga was in London.
Not surprising that Gaga wouldn't be okay with what those supposed fans said yet what would surprise me is if other artists whose stans attack Gaga on a daily basis, get asked about how they feel.
