Anyone know or guess what outlets have reported so far? Very small ones hopefully, in Jack Johnson's case.

Well considering that Jack Johnson's sales are proportionally low to the estimate, I'd guess iTunes hasnt reported

Does anyone know the store reporting order for HDD? Does the first update include either Amazon or iTunes?

Clay Aiken's sales are shockingly low. And he was on The View and GMA- so the 'tried and true' 'no promo' excuse really doesn't wash here.

Not sure, but I'll say this after tracking Carole King and James Taylor's sales the past few weeks, it looks as though the Amazon update comes later. They've been #3, #2 or #1 on Amazon for a while, and I've noticed, they always have strong updates on HITS towards the end and start out slow in the beginning. Take now, with over 50% in, they're at #22. They'll end up around the top 10 when all is said and done.

I just read earlier in the thread that Tiao Cruz had a #1 hit on the radio selling over 2 million singles over how many months of pre-release promotion, plus he has guest hip-hop artists on the CD and numerous TV appearances under his belt and yet he is tracking lower than Aiken right now even though Clay had nothing in the way of promotion till June 1st, the day of his release. The distributors stocked the stores with racks of Tiao Cruz's CDs when it was hard to find any of Clay's at all. If Clay's sales exceed or even come close to Tiao's it will be amazing that a guy with no radio, no video, no pre-release promotion and all considered, a lack of product in the stores is in a position to do as well or better than a guy with a ton of promotion, radio, a #1 hit etc.

Clay's CD isn't heavily stocked because nobody wants it.

Clay's CD isn't heavily stocked because nobody wants it. I doubt that is the case but then why is Tiao Cruz's CD heavily stocked when apparently nobody wants it either then?

Taio's CD is heavily stocked because he has a huge hit and has massive cross format airplay. Technically that should lead to more demand however it's clearly not the case here.

Considering Clay is on track to experience a near 80% drop in first week sales between his last album in 2008 and this one, I'd say his sales are pretty bad.

What 2009 Clay album? The Walmart Playlist compilation CD? That's not an album in any stretch of the imagination.
Please, show me the studio album that Clay actively released and promoted in 2009 to back up your ridiculous claims that Tried and True's sales are "pretty darn excellent"
ETA- I just did the math, and Clay's first week sales are down over 97% from his first album. Only 2.77% of people who bought Measure of a Man are buying Tried and True. Again, I fail to see how such numbers are "pretty darn excellent."

When his sales are similar to another new release that has had 1000x more promotion and availability then he is doing just fine if not pretty darn excellent.

LMAO!!!! Taio Cruz is a new artist. Clay is not. Comparing someone who has sold 6 million CD's in this country and was on America's most watched TV show to someone who is not only British, but just now releasing his debut album in the US is not a fair comparison to make.

Did Tiao just come out since his last album? Did he lose most of his fundamentalist christian fans because they could not stomach supporting a gay man? Did he have to start all over again with a new label and try to overcome the most hated man in the gay world status simply because he came out on a different time table than they wanted from him? Was he dogged by stalkers and tabloids for 7 years? Does he have internet based groups that exist solely for the purpose of hating him? No? Then I'd say Tiao has an advantage.

Lol!!! Adam came out of the closet before he ever released any original material, and he's doing pretty darn well for himself. ;)
Besides, Taio is a male pop R&B singer, which historically have the lowest sales of any type of performer on Top 40. Clay is a standards singer, who have among the HIGHEST sales of any performers

You really don't have to inject him into every conversation on every thread. Really you don't. No, really! Stop editing your posts. It gets annoying. Wait! Standards singers have the highest sales in Top 40? Come again? Or were you comparing apples to oranges here because I'm pretty sure that Top 40 plays zero standards.

Old TWoP/Clackhouse habit ;)
No, of course Clay isn't a Top 40 artist. I was saying that standards singers such as Michael Buble, SuBo, and Rod Stewart (during his standards phase) tend to have very big sales. Clay is one of them now, and his sales are horrible.
Oh and for someone who ISN'T a Top 40 artist and is a Standards singer, Michael Buble's had some success on the format. His "Home" did OK on Pop and GREAT on HAC (it went #1) and his "Haven't Met You Yet" is a Top 20 Pop hit.

Did they have to start all over again with a new label and try to overcome the most hated man in the gay world status simply because he came out on a different time table than they wanted from him? Were they dogged by stalkers and tabloids for 7 years? Do they have internet based groups that exist solely for the purpose of hating them? Why not compare Adam Lambert with Susan Boyle then? They both released albums the same week. They both came off of huge television shows with debut CDs. One sold 8 million while the other sold half a million. Neither song is a standard.

I actually didn't see much "revolt" around Clay's coming out. In fact, I saw much support and "Oh, we always knew" on the Clayboards I used to look at. Clay had lost many, many fans by then anyways.
Clay's first week sales for his 2008 album BEFORE he came out was 94,000. For his album before that, it was 211,000-a 55% drop. Between his 2006 album and his 2003 debut, there was a 66% drop in sales in the first week.
So no, it wasn't just Clay's coming out that caused him to continuously lose sales. Clay has always lost a significant amount of sales between each album.
First of all, you compared Adam's US sales to SuBo's world sales, and second of all, Adam's world sales are close to 1 million for this album.
SuBo is the #1 selling artist in the world, btw. ;)
Clay should have bigger numbers, period though. He is NOT some unknown artist. He's very well known, has a major label deal, had prime TV exposure and allegedly has a large fanbase. He should have easily cleared more albums than people like Taio Cruz and Janelle Monae who are not even American, just starting out, had almost no TV exposure, and have no real established fanbase here in the states, but he didn't.
I did the math, and Clay loses, on average, about 66% of his sales between each album he releases. At that rate, he will open his next album with about 5,600 CD's in his debut week. That is pathetic, no matter how much you try to spin it.

I saw plenty of Clay's CD's at Wal-Mart-right next to Taio Cruz actually.
What I DID notice at my local Wal-Mart was that while Taio had several CD's gone from his little rack, Clay had only sold 1 CD in his.
ETA-GMA gets, on average, about 5 million viewers every day.

One lone voice, out of thousands that say different all over the country, that claims seeing lots of CDs on the new release rack yet. Sorry but no.
