Wow Clay's numbers suck, but it shouldn't be a surprise. Nobody's been checking for him since 2004.... It appears StarSprinkles has.

Question -Do they play Taio Cruz on the radio. If so, what type of station? I do not know any of his songs? Was he on TV at all recently?

Question -Do they play Taio Cruz on the radio. If so, what type of station? I do not know any of his songs? Was he on TV at all recently? This is from Page 1 He was on Regis & Kelly today and is on Kimmell on the 10th. Yes more promo would help with better opening week sales but honestly having a smash hit is the best promo you can get. And he is getting tons of airplay across pop, rhytmic ,and HAC.
The single has sold over 2 Million copies you would think more than 22-27K people would be interested in picking up an album. I think it has to do with featured artists. A new artist needs to stand on their own two feet not rely on rent a rappers and featured artists. Or maybe people just aren't interested in these male pop-r&b artists. I enjoy "break your heart" and "Dynamite" but I wouldn't pick up his album..too generic. Jason Derulo, Jay Sean, Taio Cruz..sometimes it's hard to tell their music apart.
Will be interesting to see what happens once "Dynamite" starts to smash.

I listen to Classic Rock or a hybrid New-Classic Rock station the car. When switching between the main two I listen to, I may stop on an AC station, so I never hear this type of music. So he's got lots of airplay, but only a recent daytime talk show. If he's an unknown quantity people may not want to take a chance on a whole album. Personally I don't think early morning TV does much for driving sales.

Taio has/had a #1 hit on Pop radio. I think Ke$ha usurped him today though.

Clay's CD isn't heavily stocked because nobody wants it. I doubt that is the case but then why is Tiao Cruz's CD heavily stocked when apparently nobody wants it either then? I doubt Tiao is heavily stocked, retailers know better at this point. This sounds like a Claymate conspiracy.

What 2009 Clay album? The Walmart Playlist compilation CD? That's not an album in any stretch of the imagination. Please, show me the studio album that Clay actively released and promoted in 2009 to back up your ridiculous claims that Tried and True's sales are "pretty darn excellent" It isn't necessary. When his sales are similar to another new release that has had 1000x more promotion and availability then he is doing just fine if not pretty darn excellent. No, that isn't how this works. They're both flopping. We know that Pop/Rhythmic radio hits don't always sell albums, especially if the song is throwaway, especially if it is by a new artist, and especially if it is by an artist (new or otherwise) that the public doesn't trust to make a good/enjoyable album beyond a single or two. Taio in a nutshell. We've seen it time and time again. Promotion and exposure is not all that counts, the public has to be interested. And not changing the station when a song comes on is much less impressive and much easier than actually going out and buying/legally downloading an album, i.e. acts getting radio hits but then not selling albums equally well.

I saw plenty of Clay's CD's at Wal-Mart-right next to Taio Cruz actually. What I DID notice at my local Wal-Mart was that while Taio had several CD's gone from his little rack, Clay had only sold 1 CD in his. Pictures or it didn't happen. One lone voice, out of thousands that say different all over the country, that claims seeing lots of CDs on the new release rack yet. Sorry but no. Pictures or it didn't happen.

LMAO!!!! Taio Cruz is a new artist. Clay is not. Comparing someone who has sold 6 million CD's in this country and was on America's most watched TV show to someone who is not only British, but just now releasing his debut album in the US is not a fair comparison to make. Did Tiao just come out since his last album? Did he lose most of his fundamentalist christian fans because they could not stomach supporting a gay man? Did he have to start all over again with a new label and try to overcome the most hated man in the gay world status simply because he came out on a different time table than they wanted from him? Was he dogged by stalkers and tabloids for 7 years? Does he have internet based groups that exist solely for the purpose of hating him? No? Then I'd say Tiao has an advantage. Then explain the drop in sales from Clay's first to second album.

Then explain the drop in sales from Clay's first to second album. Clay's second album was Christmas songs which sold a million in the six weeks it was on the shelves that season. His 3rd album was released the same year that the tabloids set out to humiliate him into coming out by planting stories about anonymous hook-ups, unsafe sex practices, possible spreading of AIDS to strangers online and everything else you can think of that would destroy his reputation and drive away fans. It worked and that album only went gold. Even though he has said the tabloids lied about him to force him out people still cling to those rumors. I'll never understand why it was so important to force him out, important enough to ruin him, but it happened.

I'm anxious to see next week's numbers, especially Xtina's debut.
Poor Jewel is probably going to have to fight to pull off even 20k...both her country singles released from this album are flopping :/

Not sure, but I'll say this after tracking Carole King and James Taylor's sales the past few weeks, it looks as though the Amazon update comes later. They've been #3, #2 or #1 on Amazon for a while, and I've noticed, they always have strong updates on HITS towards the end and start out slow in the beginning. Take now, with over 50% in, they're at #22. They'll end up around the top 10 when all is said and done. OK, what you say makes it sensible to conclude that Amazon has not reported yet. See what I mean, with 54% in, CK and JT were at #22 with 7k sold. The final update saw them surge to #7 with 26k sold. That makes me believe Amazon doesn't report until Tuesday. I could be completely wrong though.

Madonna tributes now do better than Madonna. Not quite, lol. The Glee EP won't catch up to the Celebration GH, and if it ever did Celebration would then still permanently pull ahead because of catalog sales.

If not for Jack Johnson, we'd have an all time record LOW for the #1 album! :o :o :o And it couldn't have happened to a a more deserving artist.

This sounds like a Claymate conspiracy. Everywhere I went he had prime placement with multiple slots in the new release rack. Clay's album you really had to search for it and many stores didn't even have it.

Carole King is staying surprisingly consistent. Cool! They really are. They've only spent one week out of the top 10 so far. But when you think about it, it's not too surprising they're doing well. Her and James Taylor have the biggest tour around, a concert event that will probably never happen again, so that makes people more likely to buy it. Their concert is being shown repeatedly on PBS and they appeal to older people who still buy albums. Plus, you get the DVD of the concert and it's not overly expensive.

For the second week in a row, top 10 albums sold less than the top ten did last year and it takes 7,600 copies to the make the top 50 this week.
