Agreed! Can't believe I thought this song would flop! I need to stop letting my personal tastes get in the way of educated predictions.

Thanks, bks- BDS airplay actually higher than Mediabase? Must be those other formats that don't show up in Quick Cut info (i.e. Rhythmic AC, Latin, etc.)

I thought "Tik Tok" was a shoo-in for the #1 HOT 100 song of 2010. "California Gurls" point totals could make me change my mind by the end of the summer.
When was the last time (outside of Christmas holiday season) a #3 song had more than 35,000 chart points? "Airplanes" probably reached that plateau last week. It may end up as one of the top 5 songs of 2010, without ever reaching #1.

Carrie Underwood had the best-selling Idol track last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, but Adam Lambert made the big move, tripling its weekly sales.
Carrie sold 57,000 downloads of Undo It -- at the rate it's going, it'll surpass the sales total of her last single, Temporary Home, in about three weeks. The premiere of Adam's If I Had You video helped propelled downloads of the tracks to nearly 9,000, a 201 percentage increase in weekly sales.
Carrie Underwood, Undo It (57,000, -10%, 405,000) Adam Lambert, Whataya Want From Me (23,000, -6%, 1.327 million) Kris Allen, Live Like We're Dying (11,000, -7%, 1.480 million) Carrie Underwood, Cowboy Casanova (11,000, -11%, 1.392 million) Daughtry, Life After You (9,000, -7%, 755,000) Adam Lambert, If I Had You (9,000, +201%, 41,000) Lee DeWyze, Hallelujah (9,000, -35%, 118,000) Carrie Underwood, Temporary Home (8,000, -14%, 515,000) Carrie Underwood, Before He Cheats (4,000, -12%, 3.023 million) Kellie Pickler, Makin' Me Fall in Love Again (4,000, +8%, 41,000) Carrie Underwood, All-American Girl (4,000, -2%, 1.221 million) Bucky Covington, A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How) (3,000, +45%, 16,000) Kellie Pickler, Best Days of Your Life (3,000, -20%, 1.037 million)

cold- not too long ago, Ask Billboard published Spears' to-date album sales. Her albums do not register great catalog sales- and with the release of The Singles Collection, Circus' sales likely dropped to not much of anything.
"California Gurls" is just smashing it right now. Its 122.5m total is pretty impressive for a track not getting any measurable play at Urban.

Hoping that Blackout passed the million mark, I know it was at 980,000 a couple months ago

^Like Cirus, The Singles Collection probably sent Blackout's sales to the lower end of the spectrum. it definitely hasn't scanned 20K since 2/21 (when it was at 980K). :)
"Toxic" by far is the best seller among the pre-2005 singles, with 1m+ scanned. It's not close to 2m, though. The last totals I had for pre-Circus singles were through 11/2/08.

Katy will easily top the chart again this week w/ 334,381 downloads and 122.5 million in airplay (+17.2 million - Greatest Gainer). #1 Hot Digital Songs, #2 Streaming (up from #8 but behind Alejandro) and #3 Hot 100 Airplay. Thanks. Should be interesting to see who gets #1 on the Hot 100 next week. My money's on Katy though. She's a machine right now.

bks would have access, but he does not post often these days, and likely would not post all of that info, with the SoundScan police out there. hehe
Wonder when Katy Perry's second single will hit- the album's not due for another two months, after all.

Heh I saw the note about Gaga and immediately thought, "I bet a s.tan at that other music forum has already opened yet another thread about her." And indeed.
Wow Katy will have 2 mil after just 7 weeks.

I’m surprised Drake didn’t have any top T40 debut. Bieber now has 5 T40 hits this year, 9 total.

Look at all of the debuts and re-entries in the Hot 100 this week (16 in all).
What's the record for most debuts and re-entries in one week combined?
And "I Gotta Feeling" needs two more weeks to tie Paula Cole and Faith Hill for 56 weeks on the Hot 100.

Gaga really lucked out with last week's chart reformulation to get Alejandro in the top 5. If only Paparazzi had managed a top 5 week! She'd tie Janet for having 7 top 5 singles from one album (although, of course, with the disclaimer of it being a re-release).

do you guys think that LTWYL will be #1 next week? Katy not only has big sales, but also big airplay, LTWYL would have to sell a lot to be #1, how much exactly?
