i havent heard the whole thing yet but i started hearing some of this on the radio today. did it just premiere today? im not surprised that radio is jumping on this fast lol EDIT: after hearing it  this is only gonna be extremely successful just cuz of CG. this song isnt very good imo. it might grow on me like CG did but this seems like a huge step down from CG. |

I ran errands pretty much all day today and this song played pretty much the entire time I was in the car. I cannot get over how awesome it is. I hope it goes to number 1 on the Hot 100 and Pop...it definitely deserves it.

I actually think the reverse. California Gurls is the song you listen to at the pool/beach during the day. Teenage Dream is the song you listen to at night reflecting on the day/summer. I agree - CG gets tiring after a while, but TD doesn't at all (well at least for me). granted this just came out lmao! |

While I like it more than CG, I have to say, I'm completely bored already with Katy and her one-note choruses this era. Seriously, would it kill her to write a chorus with more than one note? CG and Teenage Dream have very, very monotone choruses. Maybe she did it because of the huge success of Tik Tok and it's one-note chorus, but I'm tired of it already. It's very boring. Still, IMO, its better than CG just because it's not as annoying as CG was. Everything related to CG was trying way too hard to be cutesy and fun.
The best thing about TD is the cover, IMO. It's awesome.

Cali Gurls was more instant and infectious but also suffered from a slightly higher burnout rate than most typical songs for me. This is one of those songs that doesn't exactly stick with you right away. It requires repeated plays and it is good enough to keep you coming back for it. It takes longer for everything in this song to sink in but once it does, it's really infectious. Because of that, this should have decent playback value and perhaps that will lend itself to more longevity.

I really like this song when I listen to it but then when I'm done, I always forget how it goes. lol. It's definitely growing on me a lot though.

Wow at the update, I wonder if this is gonna have a quick chart run similar to California Gurls. I've noticed that many new songs get gigantic updates on a daily basis, has it ever happened before to more than 1-2 instant hits? I'm curious.
