After having this on repeat since it was released, this might actually be one of my top 3 favorites of hers. Fantastic.

SN > BTD >>>> M. Like BTD, but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Reminds me of Crazier.

Love this song immensely. It's incredible that her songwriting skills are actually still growing and getting better. She was already so good that I didn't think it was possible to get any better. Taylor is amazing.

A radio DJ got to interview Taylor and got a preview of the album. He jotted down his thoughts while listening to the album and uploaded the photo of his notes on twitter.

Thanks! Excited to hear "Story of Us" and even more now that they described it as 'rock'. Rolling Stone mentioned it had a big guitar solo too.
The title for "Enchanted" doesn't have me intrigued at all. But what that guy said about it and the fact that it's so long, does.

Beautiful lyrics, beautiful vocals, beautiful song. The preview DID NOT do justice to this song. I love it. So that's 2 songs I'm in love with from her new album: Innocent + Back To December.

Is "BTD" a 'confession' to Taylor Lautner ?

BTD is an apology to Taylor Lautner. 20 Mine - Taylor Swift - 58,000 / 1,048,000

BTD is an apology to Taylor Lautner. 20 Mine - Taylor Swift - 58,000 / 1,048,000 Ouch. Proves that this was a bad single choice. A song with 90 million AI should not be pushing only 58k a week.

Eh. The song will finish with two million sold. Not bad at all considering the remix wasn't serviced to radio from the beginning (something her other singles benefited from) and it only reached #12 on pop radio (the format that has the biggest influence on digital sales).

You can't ignore that it's going #1 on Pop, top ten on HAC, and probably #1 on AC. I would say it's underwhelming. She should've went with SN as the lead single. What a smash.

You can't ignore that it's going #1 on Pop Uh. What? Because the HAC and AC markets are known to provide huge digital boosts for songs in rotation. Hardly. The pop format is what drives huge digital sales, with the country format a distant second. "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me" sold as well as they did because they were hugely successful on pop radio, not because they were hugely successful on HAC and AC radio. lol If the song stalls at around the 1.5 million mark (digitally), I'd say it under-performed. Hitting the two million mark would be right about where it should be given its performance on pop radio.

I meant country. A mess. Well we can look at songs peaking around #12 on the pop format and most have sold between 700k-1 mil (Untouched, Crush, Elevator, Naturally, etc.). So with the country push of about 600k and then the fact that it's the first single, this should be doing better. I'm not saying it's flopping, because it's not. At all. I just think now they know that maybe Mine wasn't the best lead single choice.

Well we can look at songs peaking around #12 on the pop format and most have sold between 700k-1 mil (Untouched, Crush, Elevator, Naturally, etc.). Let's compare it to one of Taylor's own releases: "Fifteen". "Fifteen" peaked at #12 on the pop format and is somewhere around one million copies sold at this point (and it's absolutely done digitally). Plus, it was only the third pop single and followed the hugely successful "You Belong With Me". Why is 600k the country standard at this point? A lot of country singles barely reach that point at all (least we forget the song is still climbing at this point). Of the songs we've heard thus far, I think "Mine" was definitely the right choice. It may be a step down (hook-wise) to "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story", but it's more suited for pop radio than "Speak Now" or "Back To December".

We'll probably have to have this argument until the next single comes around, but I stand by my claim that this single wasn't the best. It didn't satisfy the hype there was for it, no matter how much you or I may love it.

It didn't satisfy the hype there was for it, no matter how much you or I may love it. If we're looking at this from purely the broad perspective of "Taylor Swift's first single following the juggernaut Fearless", it most likely falls below expectations. However, when taking the song itself and its performance into context, the song is performing just how it should be digitally. I'm not quite sure why we're expecting so much more at this point when the song hasn't performed anywhere near to the level of a selection of her previous singles. If you've followed the digital charts, you'd see the song is actually maintaining quite well (despite being pushed back weekly by new releases, it always finds its way back into the top 15).

The sales are a bit disappointing to me considering this is her first single from an insanely anticipated cd and is getting tons of across the board play with different audiences hearing it. Not a flop, but I don't think her people really predicted that it may struggle to sell 2 million digital copies. The Fifteen point actually makes Mine sound even worse to me. Fifteen was a third+ single depending on how you look at it and came from a cd that was fairly old at the time. Mine doesn't have a cd yet eating away from sales and is the first single and really won't sell that much more.
I just don't think Mine hit the mark. It is possible that they just didn't have the perfect lead single this time though, but do have some great other singles to release that may connect even more. It hasn't stopped her from dominating Itunes with random non-single releases so I think she and the cd will be just fine.
