I've seen this in a couple articles, but I don't think "Story of Us" is one of the iTunes countdown songs. It's just part of the Comcast deal. Where they have the short video of Taylor talking about it and they play a clip of the song.

Shame Story of Us isn't one of the songs, it is sounding like it could be the best on the album. Back to December is fantastic, best thing released so far from this era. She has delivered again by the looks of it...

I read that "Story of Us" is also about Taylor Lautner. I don't have a link cause I read it on a music blog but apparently it's from a New York Magazine interview. This is what the blog wrote:

Any word on what the second single from this album will be and when it will be released to radio? Seems like it should be quite soon.

From the quotes in New York Magazine, it seems as if "The Story Of Us" could actually be about Joe Jonas (both attended the American Music Awards in 2008 when Taylor sang "White Horse").

From the quotes in New York Magazine, it seems as if "The Story Of Us" could actually be about Joe Jonas (both attended the American Music Awards in 2008 when Taylor sang "White Horse"). I absolutely think it's about Joe. I guess some people are just assuming it's about Taylor because it's obviously about a celebrity and he's the first one that people think of. Especially since Joe was awhile ago. But the album's about the entire past 2 years. And the break-up with Joe happened right before "Fearless" came out. So obvious dealing with that break-up was a big part of what she went through during that time. She also made that comment a few months about only having one big heartbreak so far in her life and that heartbreak like that was worth a few albums (alluding to Joe having some songs on this album too). And yeah, I think it's about the AMA's. That was right after they broke up. And that was probably the first time they saw each other since then. Any word on what the second single from this album will be and when it will be released to radio? Seems like it should be quite soon. I wouldn't say "quite soon". It's #6 on the country chart with a big bullet. It has at least a few more weeks there.

Back to December is really good - definitely a step up in maturity. Great lyrics. Solid effort overall.

78 70 Taylor Swift Fearless 6,149 6,026,888
Taylor Swift and Kanye West just keep crossing paths. This week, they each have new songs that debut in the top five on Hot Digital Songs. Who came out ahead? Swift's "Speak Now" debuts at #2, with first-week sales of 217,000. West's "Runaway" (featuring Pusha T) bows at #4, with first-week sales of 174,000..
Swift's previous release has also outsold West's previous release. Swift's "Mine" has sold 1,109,000 copies in 10 weeks. West's "Power" has sold 423,000 copies in 15 weeks..
Swift's Speak Now album, which will include "Speak Now" and "Mine," is set for release on Oct. 25. West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is due Nov. 22..
Swift will have a new song every week for the next few weeks. "Back To December" will chart next week, followed by "Mean" and "Story Of Us." I don't think Kanye will attempt to match her pace.. (taken from the Billboard 200 thread)

Oct 14 2010 6:52 AM EDT 140 Taylor Swift Would 'Wait In Line' To Meet Bono, Bruce Springsteen'I know those are really tough meet-and-greets to get into,' she jokes, 'but I really want to at least try.' By Jocelyn Vena (@jocelyn1212) , with reporting by Jim Cantiello (@jambajim) For some guys, meeting Taylor Swift is on their bucket list of life goals — yes, we're talking about you, "Buried Life" guys. But for Swift, she puts two music legends on her wish list of people to meet, and they're both guys any music lover would die to meet. "There's so many people I look up to based on their longevity and based on the fact that they've maintained such a culturally relevant career and such a musically relevant career," she told MTV News when she sat down to talk about her new album, Speak Now, due October 25. "People that I look up to like that are Bruce Springsteen and Bono. And I know those are really tough meet-and-greets to get into. And I know that, but I really want to at least try. I would wait in line for that." Not that Swift hasn't already been lucky enough to meet and work with everyone from John Mayer and Miley Cyrus to T-Pain and Stevie Nicks. But on Speak Now, it will be all about Swift and the people in her life who helped inspire the tracks, including this week's release, "Back to December." "I've always sort of written songs about situations in life, things that needed to be said," she explained. "And I've always thought that, you know, I write songs about people who deserve to have songs written about them. And whatever they need to hear, whatever is the right thing to say to that person — ends up being said." www.mtv.com/news/articles/1649947/20101013/story.jhtml

I don't get why everyone is saying "Story of Us" will be released next week, along with "Mean". Is there like another countdown somewhere that has "Story of Us" exclusively?

I don't get why everyone is saying "Story of Us" will be released next week, along with "Mean". Is there like another countdown somewhere that has "Story of Us" exclusively? They've been showing previews of the iTunes countdown songs on Comcast, along with an interview of Taylor talking about the song, the day before they're released to iTunes. But with 'Story of Us', they're just doing the preview/interview with Comcast on the 22nd. It's not part of the iTunes countdown. The schedule is... Oct. 4 - "Speak Now" preview Oct. 5 - "Speak Now" on iTunes Oct. 11 - "Back to December" preview Oct. 12 - "Back to December" on iTunes Oct. 18 - "Mean" preview Oct. 19 - "Mean" on iTunes Oct. 22 - "Story of Us" preview Oct. 25 - Speak Now album out You would think that 3 days before the album's release date, we would already have previews of all the songs. But maybe not...

Later in the day, she will visit Madame Tussaud’s New York – the famed Times Square wax attraction — for the unveiling of her original wax figure.
That evening, she and the group of contest winners will head to the JFK airport to board a JetBlue flight bound for Los Angeles. The Speak Now Album Release Party will air on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, November 1st (syndicated, check local listings). This is only the second time in history the show has hosted an album launch, the first was for Taylor’s Fearless album in 2008.

Taylor Swift among those honored at the triple play awards The Triple Play Awards were presented at the Second Annual CMA Songwriters Luncheon, which was held at the Pinnacle at Symphony Place in Nashville and attended by several artist/songwriters including Dierks Bentley, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban in addition to hit tunesmiths from ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC, as well as songwriter members of CMA, NSAI, and representatives of some of the most successful publishers in Music City. Among the winners were Taylor Swift who was honored for songwriting credits on "Should've Said No," "Love Story" and "White Horse." Carrie Underwood was also recognized for helping penn some of her number one hit songs including "Cowboy Casanova," "Temporary Home" and "Undo It" from her current "Play On" album, as well as "So Small," "All-American Girl" and "Last Name" from her previous record "Carnival Ride." Check out the image from the luncheon below. Keep reading to see more photos and what Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood had to say about the ceremony! "I absolutely live in awe of all the people in this room. I've had the time of my life knowing you over the years of writing with you. I think you guys just make other songwriters better. A lot of times I've gone back in my memories of when I started writing songs. I would sit there in my room and write a new song, and the first thing I would feel is, I'd feel proud of this new song. The next thing I would feel was fear because I was afraid that nobody would ever hear it. Then I was fortunate enough to meet people like Jody Williams, Troy Tomlinson, Scott Borchetta, and the team at Big Machine Records. Everyone at CMA has been so good to me. I'm very thankful that I don't have to fear that no one is going to hear my songs anymore," said Taylor Swift. "To all the writers in this room, you guys have the hardest job. I can stand up there all day and sing - and I love that - but you create something out of air. And that is so amazing. I have so much respect for you. I love you guys. Thank you so much. Maybe someday I'll consider myself one of you, but I've got a long way to go," said Carrie Underwood. hollywoodteenzine.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1593&Itemid=51

Taylor Swift songs on 'Glee': 'There have been conversations' By Jay Bobbin | October 14, 2010 1:42 PM ET Taylor Swift tells Zap2it, "I don't think I've ever been this busy in my life." And the evidence is starting to show up. With the international Monday, Oct. 25, release of the music superstar's third album -- "Speak Now" -- approaching fast, the related media blitz is kicking in. "I've actually been running and doing cardio for the last three months to prepare for it, to be honest," Swift says. "We've had this schedule pretty much set in stone for six months, because it has so many parts that have to come together. To make sure I could get through it, I've been warming up every day, not so much for the exercise but for the endurance." A weekend of nightly Swift specials starts Friday, Oct. 22, on The Hub (the former Discovery Kids) and various talk-show appearances follow, so the 20-year-old winner of four Grammys and many other awards literally is in training for her packed schedule. All the tunes on "Speak Now" were written by Swift, with the title cut, "Mine" and "Back to December" getting heavy air play already. Speculation has begun about exactly who she's singing about, her "Valentine's Day" movie co-star Taylor Lautner being a top guess ... but Swift prefers not to specify the subjects herself. "One of the things about writing songs," she reflects, "is that I've never wanted to change the way I write them and why. I sit in a room and don't let the millions of people who might hear the song affect what it ends up being. The only person I'm thinking about conveying a message to is the person the song is about. They've stayed very personal, but I've had this wonderful surprise that other people I've never met are able to apply my stories and my songs to their lives." Swift wouldn't be opposed to having the hit FOX series "Glee" apply her songs, too, if the circumstances could work out. "There have been conversations," she confirms, "and when those happen with all these new opportunities, it usually comes down to scheduling. I'm a huge fan of the show, and I think it showcases music in a great way, so I would be really excited if anything were to happen there." blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/10/taylor-swift-songs-on-glee-there-have-been-conversations.html

Taylor Swift 'Needed' To Perform 'Innocent' At VMAs'Having an album coming out that's called Speak Now ... I knew I needed to go to the VMAs,' singer says. By Jocelyn Vena (@jocelyn1212) , with reporting by Jim Cantiello (@jambajim) It was the question on everyone's mind when the VMAs went live from Los Angeles last month: Would Taylor Swift take the stage after last year's headline-making Kanye West interruption? In the end, she did. And she bravely faced the crowd in the Nokia Theatre with a ballad inspired by the now-infamous incident and the man himself. The tune, "Innocent," let the world know it was time to move on. "Well, the thing about performing songs that I've written is that when I'm performing them in concert or anytime that I'm singing those words, I'm back in the place where I was when I wrote the song," she told MTV News about the track, which will be on Speak Now, coming October 25. "It's like that every single time, whether I'm singing a happy song or whether I'm singing a song about a very intense emotion, like I did on the VMAs." Swift notes that she didn't have to perform "Innocent." She had released the uptempo "Mine" just as the VMAs were rolling around. But, for her, performing anything other than "Innocent" didn't feel like an option. "I had a lot of options going into the VMAs: You can not go; you can perform your current single; you can pretend like nothing happened last year that everybody is not thinking about; or you can say what you need to say at the time that you need to say it," she explained. "And having an album coming out that's called Speak Now, that's about saying what you feel at the time, I knew I needed to go to the VMAs this year www.mtv.com/news/articles/1650042/20101014/story.jhtml

Taylor on Parade Magazine : Outtakes : Click here for HQ photos : taylorswift.com.br/galeria/thumbnails.php?album=1112Here's the article :
In the October 24 issue of PARADE magazine, pop princess Taylor Swift opens up about the challenges of staying grounded while living her dream. Here are some highlights from the exclusive interview. On her love life. “Things change so quickly. I have no idea who’s going to be a recurring character and who’s just a guest star for one episode. Love is fascinating. Wishing for it, pining for it, and the anger that comes when you lose it. I used to think that I could figure out some pattern to love, like if you don’t text a guy back for a half hour, he’ll like you more. But there is no pattern. Absolutely nothing is predictable in love or in life.” On the bittersweet mea culpa "Back to December," from her new album Speak Now. “Guys get what they deserve in my songs, and if they deserve an apology, they should get one. There was someone who was absolutely wonderful to me and I dropped the ball, and I needed to say all that.” On how she stalked a fan in Nashville one day. “I was driving near the mall and I saw this girl with my tour T-shirt on. She was probably 11. I made a U-turn and tried to follow her—I really had to do some maneuvering. I found her in a video-game store and just kind of walked up to her and said, ‘Oh, hi. I wanted to meet you.’ She had no idea what to say for about three minutes. Then her mom walked over, burst into tears, and proceeded to tell me that they’d driven all the way from Austin, Texas, just to see where I was discovered.” On her own fame. “I don’t like to feel like I’m some fragile package that has to be shipped by high-priority mail and handled with white gloves.” On dropping in on a journalism class at the University of Kansas, where her best friend from high school is a junior. “I just kind of walked in and sat down and tried to learn something. Even if you’re happy with the life you’ve chosen, you’re still curious about the other options. Sometimes I will make a glass of iced tea and watch life go by. I chose one road and didn’t choose the other, but I can still see what that one looks like. In the past year I figured out that happiness is what everybody wants more than anything. Now I think if you’re in the middle of your day and you realize you’re just happy in the moment, you should celebrate that.” On growing up. "I still have mixed feelings about what growing up is — this thing that happens to everyone, so I've heard." On the pain of being a teenage outsider. "If I was going through a really tough day at school and I didn't have anyone to talk to or sit with at lunch, I would say to myself over and over again, 'It's okay because I can write a song about this later.'" On her fear that listeners won't connect with her songs. "That's definitely a nightmare that I wake up from sometimes. Saying things in songs that people will care about is my biggest hope, and saying things that nobody will care about is my biggest fear." Parade

Must-read article for any Taylor Swift fan Taylor Swift: The Billboard Cover StoryReally long article but worth ploughing through for the topics discussed: 1) the writing process for the album 2)how they had a last minute change for the album name, 3)addresses the weight of expectations sales-wise for the new album 4)how Taylor acknowledges and deals with her detractors and backlash 5)how Taylor came to write "Innocent" and why she chose to perform it at the VMAs 6)Taylor and her producer's perspective on straddling the Pop-Country divide when it came to the new album and 7) which song on the new album is Taylor's most "country" song ever. Among other things....
