Absolutely cannot wait for this. It's been far too long since Chase This Light.

Cautiously optimistic about this one. I could see new Jimmy Eat World being very good, but I could also see it disappointing. "Big Casino" is probably my second favorite single of theirs after "Work," but it's telling that I haven't revisited Chase This Light a whole lot, which is probably why it feels like it's been longer than 3 years.

Really? I thought Big Casino was their worst, really $h!tty lyrics. I really liked "Always Be" though.
I'm nervous about this album too, it seems they are progressively getting ever worse each album that comes out. "Pain" was such an awesome lead single, I hope we see something like that soon.

Really, so they've been getting worse since their first self-titled back in 1994? I think what you really meant to say is that Futures was one of the best albums an artist has ever released, ever, and Chase This Light wasn't able to surpass its quality, so maybe this one can do the job.

It was definitely good, but not THAT good. I would give it a solid B.

"Drugs Or Me" is heartbreaking, "Pain" and "Nothingwrong" are rocking, and "Night Drive", "Kill", and "23" are sensational. You cannot prove me wrong.

Futures was their best album, IMO. Kill and 23 are two of my favorite songs, with the latter probably taking the crown. Clarity and Bleed American were both great, and while Chase This Light had its moments, it wasn't up the quality of those three albums.

"Drugs Or Me" is heartbreaking. I only discovered how true that is 3 years ago, when, completely in the dark, I thought my long-time girlfriend had abandoned me and ruined our relationship for drugs. And while I think that might've been unfounded now, I'm still not exactly sure.

The minimum I'm expecting from Invented is the usual from Jimmy Eat World: 4/5 songs that I love. That's the way things have been to me since Bleed American. I don't like their 90's releases...

I really didn't like many songs on Chase This Light, so 4-5 would definitely be an improvement.

If they skip Missouri for this whole album cycle too, I will kill somebody. I've never been able to see them live. One of the last and most significant holdouts of all the active bands I like.

I won't tell you how many times I've seen them live because I don't want to sound like a dick, but they're definitely worth the wait. The show they put on on the tour with the Foo Fighters and Against Me! a few years back was epic. I'm surprised that they keep avoiding St. Louis. Most tours seem to go through there. They must have a hard-on for South Florida or something Since I live basically at the bottom of the dick state, most tours seem to avoid here and fans in places like Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, and even Pensacola sometimes seem to get lucky more times than we do down here and almost half of the state's population lives in the metro area. Makes no sense sometimes.

They must have a hard-on for South Florida or something. While they definitely didn't come through during the Chase This Light album cycle, I'm pretty sure my having been in college in Memphis the first half of the decade (though never a permanent resident) is to blame for every other time I've missed them. I'm sure they came through at some point for Bleed American, I just don't remember. I missed the Pop Disaster Tour with Blink & Green Day because it was like the week or the day I was coming home at the end of a spring semester, I believe. For Futures, they played a radio station Christmas show either when I was still in school or couldn't afford to go (or the show sold out on me before I seriously considered going, or something). I think what it was was the ticket price was at least $35, when they were the only band I wanted to see. I think that was it. Plus, the show was roughly two hours from where I lived at the time.

I might as well admit I "could have" seen them four times. The first time was when the only song that I knew from the band was "Bleed American" and at Warped Tour 2001, they started their set with that song, so I left that stage area after I heard it and ventured out to somewhere else. I could have seen them at Buzz Bake Sale 2001, but there was an overlap with whatever band was playing on the main stage, and like I mentioned at that time, I probably only knew a few songs, so I chose to watch the band on the main stage while they were on the side stage. I missed them completely at the Pop Disaster Tour because of showing up late between their's and Green Day's set. Then, I finally watched a whole set by them opening up for the Foo Fighters over two years ago and like I said, it was freaking epic.

Ehh. It's good, but not great. Maybe it will grow on me, but the only lead single from Clarity on that it may surpass is "Pain".
(And by "ehh", I mean it's a solid B out of the gate.)
