www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news08149m01ROSS A DON DEAL? Def Jam/IDJ Rapper Rick Ross Takes Dead Aim on Eminem for Close Race July 21, 2010 Eminem’s four-play may well be about to end. The hip-hop superstar’s four straight weeks at #1 with his Shady/Aftermath/ Interscope album Recovery is being threatened this week by Def Jam/IDJ Miami rapper Rick Ross, whose Teflon Don is on target to do between 170-180k in sales. With placement in Target and Best Buy circulars, Eminem’s Recovery, off just 15% this week, is in the early lead, but the outcome is still very much in doubt. That’s according to one-day sales reports from those retailers whose doors are still open and air conditioners whirring. As Springsteen puts it, “Is anybody alive out there?” Next highest debut is A&M’s Sheryl Crow roots blues album, 100 Miles from Memphis, which will enter the charts with 45-50k in first-week sales. Walt Disney’s Jonas Brothers Jonas L.A. album, the soundtrack to their TV series, should do around 35-40k. Finally, Razor & Tie’s cottage industry, the 18th edition of Kidz Bop Kids, will bow with between 35-40k The market was flat vs. last week, down 23% vs. same week last year (still in the throes of Michael-mania) and remains down 12% year to date. Wonder what Mel Gibson would have to say about that.

I think they will both do in the 160K range to be honest. But if Em can do 180K again and if Rick Ross does it i will be impressed.

Terrible, terrible numbers for JB. Have they really fallen off that much in a year?

^Apparently so. Do the brothers sing on every track? Fellow Disney star Miley has fallen, too, but "Hanna Montana" still has strong ratings, at least.

Ratings for "Jonas" have actually climbed this season compared to the last.
The boys do sing on every track, but of course promo has only restricted to DC. It should have done better though.

Terrible, terrible numbers for JB. Have they really fallen off that much in a year? Britney and Timberlake stand almost alone as survivors of teen pop booms. They all get 3-4 years to make their money and then the career collapses. Their fans hit puberty and move on, but they are so associated with children's music that no one else is interested. I dunno if Miley's totally over yet. Tamed went T10 unlike...some other artists' opening singles.

Terrible, terrible numbers for JB. Have they really fallen off that much in a year? Disney Channel has forgotten about JB and Miley, they're pushing Selena Gomez right now. Demi Lovato hasn't been actively promoted either. She's long forgotten. Their label Hollywood Records is to blame for it. The Jonas Brothers only had one single out from their last album and they basically forgot the album after that. I don't think Demi Lovato has ever gotten a radio adds date for mainstream success like the others did. They've basically abandoned Miley and her second single because since her contract is up with her Disney affiliated label, they really don't care to save her last album era with them.

www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiYOUR WEAKEND TOP 15 CHART PREVIEW The top of next week's chart is still too close to call, as a couple of hip-hop heavyweights continue to duke it out in a bout that promises to stay nip and tuck throughout the weekend. If Eminem is victorious, it will be his fifth consecutive week at #1. As for challenger Rick Ross, regardless of where he lands on the chart, dude’s on track to beat the first week of his previous release by about 25k. You’ll note that the top five releases listed below, and 10 of the 15, are from UMG. Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 180-190k * Rick Ross (Def Jam/IDJ) 180-190k * Sheryl Crow (A&M) 45-50k Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown) 45-50k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 40-45k * Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 35-40k * Jonas Brothers, Jonas L.A. Soundtrack (Walt Disney) 35-40k Now 34 (Capitol/EMI) 27-30k Lady Gaga (Interscope) 24-27k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 24-27k Jack Johnson (Brushfire/Universal Republic) 21-24k Usher (LaFace/JLG) 21-24k Zac Brown Band (Atlantic) 18-21k Korn (Roadrunner) 18-21k Jerrod Niemann (Arista Nashville) 18-21k Enrique Iglesias (Universal Republic) 18-21k Big Boi (Def Jam/IDJ) 18-21k * Denotes debut

I hope Em snags the number one spot. Gaga is selling consistently as well. I can't at the consistency of Zac Brown's sales. Wow. IKR? I wish PO was getting those kind of numbers.

You have to remember though, Cere, their CD has been out significantly longer and has only sold 400k more and they are only on their first album. Plus, they have had singles promoted to other formats. Something Carrie has (stupidly) not done since BHC.

Yeah!
Recovery (Deluxe) is back to #1 on iTunes. Recovery the regular version is still #3 on iTunes.
What does that mean? Probably nothing. But still glad it's back to #1 on iTunes.

I think Eminem will pull off the #1 this week which would be amazing cause the projection is barely a drop at all from last week (what is it less than 5%?)

To be honest, if you have good accountants and financial advisers, you can live off what you make as a teen star for the rest of your life.
