Great entrance, very entertaining- and, yes, prerecorded vocals- except for "Like a Prayer," which was live. And she sounded quite good at that. "Vogue" may have been new prerecorded vocals (a la Reinvdention Tour).''I didn't even mind LMFAO and Cee-Lo's participation.
Nice surprise snippets of "Open Your Heart" and "Express Yourself"- which also seeemd live. :)

The choreographer should get an award it had nothing to do about her. It was all smoke and mirrors. Elton was right she would lip sync. They could have put in anyone to replace her and it would exactly the same performance. She took the easy and safe way out.

hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_SUPER_BOWL_MUSIC?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-02-05-21-19-46M.I.A. flips bird during Super Bowl halftime show By DAVID BAUDER AP Entertainment Writer For all the pomp and excess of Madonna's Super Bowl halftime show, it is likely to be a single extended middle finger by guest singer M.I.A. that is most remembered. The gesture, accompanied by a barely disguised expletive, came during a performance of Madonna's new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin.'" It was reminiscent of Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" -- a surprise risque moment in front of tens of millions of unsuspecting viewers. The brief exposure of Jackson's nipple during the 2004 halftime show raised a storm of controversy and put CBS in hot water with the Federal Communications Commission. The Super Bowl, shown on NBC this year, is routinely viewed by more than 100 million people, the biggest TV event of the year. The screen briefly went blurred after the M.I.A. gesture in what seemed like a late attempt to cut out the camera shot. The NFL, which produces the annual halftime show, had no immediate comment. Madonna positioned herself as the queen of a new generation of pop stars at the Super Bowl halftime show - complete with throne. Guests Cee Lo and dance rockers LMFAO also appeared. Madonna seemed like Roman royalty when muscle-bound men carried her extravagant throne across the football field to the stage for her opening song, "Vogue." The singing and dancing on that song was smartly choreographed, as Madonna moved more deliberately but still adroitly in moves that took into account that she's now in her 50s. She briefly appeared to stumble at one point while trying to make a step on the stage set, but recovered in time. She let a tightrope walker make the more acrobatic moves during a performance of "Music." Madonna carried gold pompons for a performance of her new single. Twitter was alight with questions about the vocals being lip synched or augmented by tapes, particularly during this song. At the end of her lines, M.I.A. appeared to sing "I don't give a (expletive)," although it was hard to hear clearly. The best guest was clearly Cee Lo, who joined Madonna for the final song, "Like a Prayer." They were joined by a robed chorus in the show's most soaring performance. With a puff of white smoke, Madonna disappeared down a trap door in the stage, and lights on the field spelled out "World Peace." The veteran star's vocals were not strong throughout, lending to the sense of distance during the spectacle. Earlier, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert offered some pregame patriotism. Shelton and Lambert did a twangy duet on "America the Beautiful" and Clarkson, in a simple black dress, sang "The Star Spangled Banner." Β© 2012 The Associated Press

No, you couldn't put just any other act in there and have it be the same. Madonna has an incomparable commanding stage presence that most others do not have-. Nice try, though.

There is something wrong with me but i am allergic to lipsyncing. Its not live when its lip synced. I was surprised LMFAO got more audience applause. most of her fans have been saying she didnt lip sync in her last tour and she wont do it this time. Sir elton was right on the money. Who was the choreographer? wins my award hands down. The producer of the show is also the real winner. was it don micher? I am giving where the credit is due because alot of time these ppls work is overlooked. Lets reward the real heros

What were LMFAO and Cee Lo doing there? LOL'ed during Sexy and I Know It
Nice that she delivered Like a Prayer for once although didn't like the arrangement.
I also liked the Open Your Heart and Express Yourself part.
But generally, I'm against these mash up of hits. You have 12 minutes, why not perform 2-3 songs with a fantastic visuals and choreography?

Very entertaining. She better do Vogue exactly like that on her next door. I want the same costumes, entrance, everything. :)

LMFAO are also on the same label as Madonna and they have been pretty massive these last few months in the U.S. (and in much of the world I guess). And they did a remix of GMAYL too. Cee-Lo Green is on The Voice and the second season of that premiered on NBC shortly after the Superbowl so he ties in that way. The "Like A Prayer" arrangement was actually based on the remix of it on her Immaculate Collection hits collection.

Hmm regarding LAP I thought that too but still it sounded weird. I have the collection, must listen to it.
Wish she had sung "I'm sixty and I know it"
The Voice premiere is not an excuse for having Cee Lo on stage.. He was totally out of place there. And don't get me wrong, I like him a lot, but it just didn't work.

The halftime performance by Madonna (8-8:30), earned a 48.1/72 overnight, one percent ahead of last yearβs 8-8:30 time period featuring the Black Eyed Peas (47.4/70) and 20 percent higher than NBCβs last Super Bowl with Bruce Springsteen (40.2/62).
The post-game (10-10:15) registered a 35.3/54, 17 percent higher than last yearβs 30.3 for Super Bowl XLV in Fox.

Nice ratings- the whole Super Bowl was the third-highest-rated ever in terms of overnight ratings.
