The lead single from their 1998 album Musical Chairs. Peaked at #3 on Hot AC and just missed Alternative, but failed to cross to pop and the Hot 100. This was Hootie's last gasp in the mainstream, as subsequent singles flopped and they wound up disappearing until Darius Rucker re-emerged as a solo country singer. I am linking this for the historical curiosity of the song, plus I think it's their second-best song in general (after "Let Her Cry").

I thought this went top 15 on Pop? Either way, it's a great song and should have done better. It's better than anything from Fairweather Johnson (not saying much lol) and possibly my favorite single of theirs. The follow up "Only Lonely" should have done better...at least on Hot AC. Musical Chairs was actually a pretty good album overall too.

Reached #12 on R&R Pop gghunt.utasites.cloud/charts/hootie.htmlFor some reason, I thought "Only Lonely" charted briefly too (like #40) but maybe I'm thinking of another chart.
