Confirmed on Kelly Clarkson's twitter as her "next country single." It was just premiered on WSIX in Nashville.

Seeing since Kelly Clarkson has had top tens on duets, this should be top ten #3 for her.

I like love, love, love this. Great vocal. Seeing since Kelly Clarkson has had top tens on duets, this should be top ten #3 for her. They have been ones featuring Kelly, never Kelly featuring someone. Different situation now.

I really like it too, I think it's better than her remixed version of Mr. Know It All.

Thanks. But what a disappointment. Vocally, she has sounded more country on some of her pop songs. I don't understand. And sonically, there are elements that have a late 80s/early 90s Vince Gill feel but it sounds more like a classic soul song than a country song. This is not the country Kelly I want. :(

Good song, but I agree that her vocals don't sound all that 'country' here. I was expecting something with more of a 'country' feel. It's definitely not modern pop either, but like sbp17 said, seems more like a 'soul' song.
I think it'll be a pretty big hit though, as long as it gets a push like MKIA did. So, that brings me to my question, is this gonna be worked to country radio by RCA Nashville just like MKIA was?

Let's wake up in the afternoon Pretend that we got nothing to do No we don't have to go back anything We can make up our own homes I see the way you're looking at me Baby know I'm feeling it too We can just light up every candle Move from room to room
Stopping every minute just because you're in it Wishing everyday was Sunday, you're right next to me It's how it's supposed to be Just hanging on every touch Baby don't rush, no no Baby don't rush
Throw the map out the window Taking the long way around To a secret place where no one could find us A little place we can call our own Come over here and take a picture Something we can hang on to We can look back and try to remember All the crazy we gonna do
Stopping every minute just because you're in it Wishing everyday was Sunday, you're right next to me It's how it's supposed to be Just hanging on every touch Baby don't rush Baby don't rush
Stopping every minute just because you're in it Stopping every minute just because you're in it Stopping every minute
Stopping every minute just because you're in it Wishing everyday was Sunday, you're right next to me It's how it's supposed to be
Stopping every minute just because you're in it Wishing everyday was Sunday, you're right next to me It's how it's supposed to be (supposed to be) Just hanging on every touch Baby don't rush no no Baby don't rush (Baby don't rush) Baby don't rush

The instrumental is incredible. I haven't decided what I think about the vocal melody, though. It seems rather boring at the moment, but it might grow on me. Once again, though, she sounds fantastic, unbelievable, out of this world, etc.

It's very pretty, but it's also downright dull. She'd have been better off making a country mix to any number of the songs from her recent records.

I said most of what I have to say in her album thread, but while it's perfectly pleasant and taking the country genre and sound seriously, it just doesn't make a very big impact, which I sort of expected from this single--given that it is taking one of the three available slots for new music on her upcoming Greatest Hits album and could be considered her first real push to country (or at least another big step in that direction). I think it was smart for them not to do some power pop/country/rock Carrie Underwood-esque song to start with, since those comparisons will be inevitable enough, but it just doesn't make for a very striking foray into this genre.
That said, she sounds lovely and at home here, and the song works on a number of levels, it's just not entirely exciting. I hope it does well for her, though, and that the CMAs kick this off to a nice start.

I like it a lot actually, but this doesn't even sound all that country. Sounds like something Bonnie Raitt would record (more of a an adult contemporary blues-rock type of record).

Hmm, I can see that, too. I think Kelly is really attracted to blues music, and almost all of her country covers bring in, by her own admission/purpose, a more bluesy/soulful vibe, so I wonder if all her country-leaning music will fall on that side. She has a few demos that are more decidedly country or country/pop, but Bonnie Raitt seems like a good way to describe this track.

I like it, it's sweet and pleasant, but exceedingly uneventful. The key change sounds awkward, especially since after it happens... nothing happens. If the instrumentation swelled, or her vocals soared, or Vince stepped it up, maybe it would be worth the hassle. The whole song is just a bit underwhelming, but I think it'll do well and definitely solidify her place as a potential crossover artist.

To the Country aficionados, did Bonnie Raitt do well on Country radio or is she more of a Hot AC and AC radio staple? I get a real Bonnie vibe from this song as well, so I'm really happy.

I'm sure that was completely intentional. As mentioned, Kelly loves that style of music and is probably the style of "country" I see her going for if she wants to focus on genres other than pop music in her career.

I absolutely love it. To me this is as country as Kelly has ever sounded but then again, I don't listen to a lot of country so I can see how some of you die-hard country fans would listen to this and think she doesn't sound country at all. The Kelly fans will probably think one thing and the country music fans another, it is all relative in that way. What will matter is what country radio thinks and I think they will give it a shot. The one major worry for me is whether it sounds too dated but hopefully country radio will embrace a different sound for what is out there at the moment. We shall see.

I don't see any info on any of her songs doing much at Country. She definitely has a country influence to a lot of her music though.
