80. The first single from a band who headlined the first annual Mayhem Festival this summer. Needless to say, mayhem summarizes their music admirably. Anger and fury also describes their music quite well. Slipknot - Psychosocial (Cody)
79. This Celtic-punk band dented the Mediabase Alternative Top 40 twice this year. This is the first single from their most recent album. Flogging Molly - Requiem For A Dying Song (halo19)
78. This is the first single from a band whose lead singer is notorious for running his mouth openly in the media. This band has had recent success on CHR/Pop, but this single's performance disappointed at that format. Killers - Human (Cody)
77. The second single from this 2007 breakthrough bears the same title as a single from post-grunge rockers Puddle of Mudd's first album. Mutemath - Control (PHOBIA)
76. The first single from this ex-metal rock frontman turned solo musician flopped considerably. However, his next release - this single - performed spectacularly late last year and into early this year. Serj Tankian - Empty Walls (PHOBIA)
75. "We don't fight fair!" Fall Out Boy - The Take Over The Break's Over (Cody)
74. This band has drawn comparisons to Radiohead and the White Stripes, with their blues-rock tinge. Their band name bears the title of a longstanding conflict which results in weapons buildup but little to no violence. Cold War Kids - Something Is Not Right With Me (oscillations)
73. This song is the first single from a band who once decorated themselves with facepaint and Kiss-inspired costumes. They later dressed up as aliens, and now they sport - simply themselves. Mudvayne - Do What You Do (crve105)
72. This song was a digital-only release from an Alternative Rock staple. Oddly, his next release - which refers to electromagnetic radiation - fared much better on the Mediabase Alternative chart. Beck - Chemtrails (halo19)
71. This song was never released as a single. It is, however, the 20th song from a compilation album from the artist of #82. (Note: This is extremely difficult. This hint is relatively easy in comparison with the others). Nine Inch Nails - 20 Ghosts III (halo19)
Scoreboard
Made of Steel - 6 PHOBIA - 6 Cody - 5 crve105 - 3 halo19 - 3 Matt4319 - 3 P(A)=0 - 3 oscillations - 1

^Wow....halo19 is correct on #79 and #71. 72 is the correct artist. 78 is incorrect. Let me clarify this for 78, though....it was a disappointment at pop. Not somewhat of a disappointment. Sorry about the 'error.'

Then 72 is "Chemtrails."
(On an unrelated personal note I didn't realize that "Orphans" was the one pushed at Triple A.)

This is amazing. We've completed 30 out of 100 songs on my year-end countdown, and it only feels like I began my contest days ago. Checking....oh, yes, it was three days ago. Unbelievable.
OK, brief history lesson.
My personal chart began immediately after I turned 16, in mid-2002. Among my 'staple' artists of the time were Thursday, Incubus, Blink 182, Sum 41, the Offspring, and much more punk-pop that I would eventually grow in love with to an even greater extent. I watched music television channels like MTV2 and Fuse, and these channels helped me grow more informed on the music scene at the time. I fell in love with the grunge era that helped define alternative music during the 1990s, and became such a hardcore music fan that downloaded every song in the music database that a former R&R member e-mailed me. Either way, I digress.
Here are some personal chart records.
Most weeks on countdown Story of the Year - Sidewalks (30 [2004-2005])
Most weeks at #1 Pearl Jam - I Am Mine (9 [2002])

70. This band is notorious for waiting a long time in between releasing albums. This is the first single from their newest album, a single that undoubtedly describes the "outcome" of a particular U.S. conflict quite well. *Edit* They are essentially a legendary rock band. Metallica - The Day That Never Comes (PHOBIA)
69. What are you doing right now??? jasdjsdgsdgbusaugisgnbgasparamorejgasgsnlbknabdsgsdgfkhdkhkdhfafkgasjgkskgs;ggjddecodeouaosdjgasjdgjas;gdsb Paramore - Decode (PHOBIA)
68. , Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma (PHOBIA)
67. This pop-punk band distinguishes themselves from other bands by having a violinist. This was never released as a single, but the song title has to do with an activity commonly found in the UFC or the WWE. Yellowcard - Fighting (P(A)=0)
66. This single might be the first song to reach #1 on the year-end Mediabase Alternative chart without having a music video. Foo Fighters - Let It Die (Made of Steel)
65. This post-hardcore band's first single from their latest album bears the same title as a city in Kentucky. *Edit* They were on the cover of AP early this year. Chiodos - Lexington (Made of Steel)
64. This is the first single from the band's album which bears a similar name as a 1982 teen comedy film yielding the name 'Ridgemont'. The film stars Cameron Crowe and Jennifer Jason Leigh, among others. *Edit* This is an emo-punk band....they have never really 'broken through' commercially, despite multiple albums. Academy Is - About A Girl (PHOBIA)
63. Such examples of the song title of this second single include hurricanes, tropical storms, and year-round warmth/hotness. This band was my 2007 breakthrough artist of the year. Almost - Southern Weather (PHOBIA)
62. This band is named after a famous character (a horse) from The Neverending Story. This is the third single from their newest release. Atreyu - Slow Burn (PHOBIA)
61. The lead singer of this band looks eerily similar to Maynard James Keenan of Tool. Ironic, because....well...... This second single did not fare nearly as well as the first. Ashes Divide - Enemies (crve105)
Scoreboard
PHOBIA - 12 Made of Steel - 8 Cody - 5 crve105 - 4 P(A)=0 - 4 halo19 - 3 Matt4319 - 3 oscillations - 1

Wow, those are good. The ones I could've gotten are already guessed; I was just late.
I would say Yellowcard for 67 but I don't know that they had a second single on their latest album and it probably wouldn't have carried on into '08.

Actually, I'll have to go back and edit the original, because I'm not sure if it was ever officially released as a single.

Haha, I thought 67 was a yellowcard song but when you said it was a single that threw me off. Cause I know "Light Up the Sky" was the only single from their last album. But the new clue really gave it away for me as soon as I read it lol. I'll sit out for a bit since I've already gotten four. I have an idea of two others too but I'll give someone else a shot.
