Most Idol contestants including Lee can only dream of doing the headlining world tour lol Somehow, I doubt that Lee has the famewhore gene in him, so he's going to have to take the long route and build up a reputation based on his music, not his personality. Because of that, a world tour is a long way off, but in the long run it will lead to having longevity in the industry.

Yes, being a fame whore is the most important ingredient to have an internationally succesfull career... No it's just a different way of going about things. Lee isn't going to get attention for anything except his music, so it's going to take him longer to get noticed than someone who is getting attention for other things. But, on the bright side for Lee and others is that building a career on his talent is a better foundation than a career that's built on publicity stunts.

But, on the bright side for Lee and others is that building a career on his talent is a better foundation than a career that's built on publicity stunts. But here's the funny thing, Lambert was already getting buzz and media attention while he was on idol. Lambert got the magazine covers even before idol was done. Lambert was already getting critical reviews when he was doing theatre BEFORE idol, so he's used to the media and spotlight. Don't hate because he gets media attention. Lambert got approached by RCA months before the final whether he won or not. RCA gets first digs on who gets signed first, right? What exactly do you mean by "publicity stunts" because whatever it is hasn't stop 3,000-50,000 people from showing up at his concerts. Calling someone a famewhore when you don't know the person personally to make your idol look good is stretching. I know it is very popular thing for idol fans to trash Lambert but it is only a matter of time before he is removed from the whole idol fandom. Adam fans will eventually stop posting on idol blogs and go to real music forums were the only idols that get discussed about are Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert.

Most Idol contestants including Lee can only dream of doing the headlining world tour lol Considering the small size of most of the venues, Glambert isn't exactly matching Carrie or Kelly. Also, maybe Adam should ask Clay Aiken how his tours are doing these days after being a successful runner-up. Back to Lee, of course it's going to be a long time, if ever, before he does any sort of headlining. My guess is that he's going to try and follow what Kris Allen is doing. Get some radio airplay, work as the opening act on tours for bigger bands and singers, and try to gradually build a fanbase.

Well, the tour stats I saw showed Clay doing about the same as Kris or more when comparing Kris' solo dates, lol. Back to Lee, RCA don't seem to want to invest much money in him if they don't even send his song for POP adds. If his album sales are not good and if this doesn't change (meaning if they still don't actively promote his song in his POP and if he doesn't sell much singles as well) they won't keep him signed for long.. they are after all RCA.. so let's see how SS and his album do before discussing which longevity he's going to have in the industry, okay? ;)

I was talking about the headlining world tour and the fact that most of Idol contestants can only dream of doing it. Record companies don't send artist on international tours unless they can afford it and they can sell tickets there. And as long as an artist makes money for his or her record company, they don't give a sh!t whether you're selling singles, albums, concert tickets. Anyway, I don't know why some people even bother to bring up Adam's name into the argument about Lee. I really donft get the comparison at all.

All hell breaks loose!! lol srsly tho, it's the same argument in every Idol thread or forum, even the rebuttals are all exactly the same, Lee, Kris, Archuleta etc...names are interchangeable, I have actually had to check the titles or labels just to make sure who they're even defending sometimes.

Can we focus on Lee and this song. The guy has no buzz and now can't get talked about on his own thread? :) I think if people want to talk in detail about Adam, they can go to his thread.

Enough with the trolling please. This thread is not about Adam Lambert, or any other American Idol other than Lee DeWyze.

Someone thinks any song with the word 'serendipity' in it is going to smash? lol You're right of course, because most people today are too stupid to even know what the word means. ;)

This was released to HotAC not CHR as of now. It just entered top 50. Will probably get pushed and do well and then crossover in a few weeks.

If it is going to crossover, it's not going to happen in a few weeks, imo. It has to get pretty high on the HAC charts (at least entering the top 10) before it will start doing that. So if its not going to get promoted on CHR I wouldn't expect much on that format until months from now.

They usually do that with really adult-oriented acts though - I can't imagine them holding off that long on Lee DeWyze (before promoting him to CHR), but idk maybe you're right - I guess Chris Daughtry isn't much older, and that's what happened with September

It didn't surprise me that "September" rose up the Hot AC chart first before crossing over here. I actually think it's a good move for Lee. If they put the song out now, it'll probably flop. If it can get some traction at HAC, maybe it'll have a chance at CHR. My guess is that the album is only coming out so soon because they hope to take advantage of the holiday season despite the lack of a hit single.

i think idols should start working on their first single as soon as they hit top 4. release the music when the public wants it. they want it as close as possible to the competition ending. cook was successful b/c his idol single did well, it really got him going. have them work on their lead singles early so they can be released in august/september. or even right after the show and pull a katy perry and release the 2nd single before the album. keep the idols in the public eye. releasingg SS to HAC in aug/september and watch it climb to top 10, and then releasing it to pop in october wouldve been a good idea. then he couldve gotten even more xmas sales. i feel this is one of the major flaws in the idol system.
