I really hope the Foo Fighters announce the title of their first single soon. I'm just hankerin' to know! And to an earlier post, I gotta pick Incubus over the Foos. Make Yourself and Morning View are albums that the Foos haven't approached imo. they just announced it, dude and i posted it.

I clicked the link and the first 9 words were: ‘Walk’ to NOT be the next Foo Fighters single
Billboard would've had it by now. I imagine they're still deciding, although Walk could end up being it.

Bridge Burning. Thanks for the info. For a clip that's obviously less than 1 minute, it sure packs a ton of punch.

Well "Rope" doesn't sound like an extraordinary song. I hope it's epic and intense. :)

That's not official. The first single is also rumored to be "White Limo." Also the album's not officially titled Back and Forth either, IMO.

Billboard has nothing. But XM mentioned White Limo also. And Back And Forth. I assume we'll know by next weekend.

damn. same day as 3 doors down. battle for #1 Really hard to say who'd win that one. Foo debuted at No. 3 with 168k in late '07 and 3DD had No. 1 with 154k in mid '08. Should be interesting.

Sales will be down from those projections nowadays, so it's hard to say... I think Foos have more diehard fans and history but 3 Doors Down have a wide span of fans from pop and HAC listeners. Hard prediction...

Foo Fighters have never had a #1 album & 3 Doors Down have had two consecutive #1s. 3DD is probably the safer bet for top spot.

Hard prediction... Yeah, that's why I was mentioning the dates too. I figured they'd be on pretty even footing given the gradual decline in sales. Foo Fighters have never had a #1 album & 3 Doors Down have had two consecutive #1s. 3DD is probably the safer bet for top spot. I would think so too. I mean, their latest song is rocketed up to No. 18 on Active in like a week or so and went up to No. 1 on the iTunes rock chart and fairly high on the overall chart in a matter of a day. I think those would be healthy indicators of interest. Of course, we'd have to wait to see what the first Foo single does, but at least we know there's healthy competition.

Am I the only one here who predicts the Foo Fighters will win the first-week sales face-off by a comfortable margin?
DinoDevin couldn't have said it clearer earlier. The Foo Fighters have many more loyal fans than 3 Doors Down do. The latter benefited from having a multi-format hit single preceding their previous album era surely, but it isn't looking like their new single will achieve nearly as much volume of success as "It's Not My Time" did even at their core format.
Meanwhile, I sense a LOT of excitement among the more perennial fans of the Foo Fighters who have admitted they were beginning to become disinterested in them with their steady stream of ore acoustic-based offerings preceding this forthcoming era. I think the Foo Fighters' latest will be buoyed by a jolt of enthusiasm similar to that of Pearl Jam's last two records, which were heralded as a return to their finest strengths.
I think the Foo Fighters will wind up selling more than 30,000 copies over 3 Doors Down in the forthcoming match-up.

I also think Foo Fighters will sell more. The lead single, whatever it is, should be a hit.

''When You're Young'' is not doing that good, I think Foo Fighters' lead single is going to be more succesful and then will help the sales.

Some details from ''Rope'' the lead singleexploremusic.com/new-releases/is-this-the-new-foo-fighters-single-video/I had a chance to hear the studio version of the still-as-yet-untitled Foo Fighters album. The track is “Rope” and will be delivered to radio stations at 7am ET on February 23rd. So what does it sound like? In a word, Rush. The interplay between guitars, bass and drums could be an instrumental bit from A Farewell to Kings or bits of “La Villa Strangiato” from Hemispheres, complete with multi-park drum breaks and quick shifts in time signature. (YFI: Taylor Hawkins is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEE Rush fan. Dave is, too.) It’s certainly a very bold move for a first single. This is Dave’s call, too. Sure, they could have gone with a “Learn to Fly”-style radio-friendly first single, but Dave overruled that, insisting that they go with “Rope” because it better captures the vibe of the recording sessions. (But don’t worry; there are plenty of radio-friendy quintissential Foos on the the CD.) This live performance doesn’t quick do the studio version justice. Still, it’ll give you an idea.

Sounds to me this is for them what "The Catalyst" was for Linkin Park.
