Billboard reports the band debuted new songs last night in L.A. as they prepare to launch their new album. New songs included Back And Forth, I Should Have Known, Dear Rosemary, and White Limo. Most stunning for me was the appearance of Krist Novoselic. Grohl hinted that Back And Forth may be the album title.
Butch Vig has produced the new record. Looking forward to a straight out rock CD this time, with no acoustic guitars apparently not being used.
EDIT : MOFIFIED TITLE

.... with no acoustic guitars apparently not being used. ??? So that means ? Foo Fighters albums have always had at least one acoustic track. This time around there are absolutely none.

I think he was making fun of the double negative? I'm not sure though.

Yeah, that is worded confusingly. I think this is going to sound like Them Crooked Vultures. It better fucking not.

Agreed on needing to return to form. ...But they never left "form."

I think "Wheels" was a brief and minimal-to-moderate divergence from their sound.

Personally, I'd like to see more lighter, catchier songs like "Wheels". Their last few albums were a bit too serious and overblown for my liking. I'd love to hear them return to the days of fun rockers like "Monkey Wrench", "This Is A Call", "Breakout", and so forth. Catchy midtempo power-pop tunes such as "Learn To Fly" and "Times Like These" would be welcome too.

I'd like to see a heavier side to them actually.

Yeah, no reason why we can't have both. Personally, I quite liked the singles from the last couple albums, especially In Your Honor. Best Of You, Resolve, DOA, even the acoustic songs like Miracle and Virginia Moon I really enjoyed.
Here's a list of song titles that might appear on the new record, as per Wikipedia: Miss the Misery Dear Rosemary These Days Walk A Matter of Time Bridge Burning Better Off White Limo I Should Have Known Arlandria Back + Forth Rope To No End

If anything, as melodic and breezy as it is, it was nonetheless still heavier than much of "There Is Nothing Left To Lose" as it had quite a punchy riff and feedback with its melodic bounce. "Next Year", "Learn To Fly" and "Aurora" were all lighter than "Wheels", at least to my ears, along with much of their previous album and half of "In Your Honor". Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

I guess I meant lighter in comparison to the singles they've been releasing from the last few albums. But perhaps "melodic and breezy" is a better description of what I'm getting at.

I'm so excited for this! Foo Fighters never disappoint! One of the bands of my life! Plus, they keep saying this will rock hard and that might be the only aspect where Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace where Echoes, Grace (which despite of that is my favorite record by them) didn't please me completely. Damn! 2011 will most likely be amazing in terms of quantity of new music from my favorite artists: blink-182, New Found Glory, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Yellowcard, Radiohead, Thrice, Incubus, Death Cab For Cutie, All Time Low, Rise Against, Sum 41 and so on are all expected to come out with new stuff!

More screaming does not imply a lack of melody.

And less melody doesn't imply a lack of melody. That kinda makes sense.

And less melody doesn't imply a lack of melody. But you're saying because there will be screaming that there will be less melody. That simply isn't true. Also "lack of melody" does not mean "devoid of melody" either.

If they can get away from the staleness of the last three albums What total rot.

Spot on, actually. Compare old to recent. Consistent brilliance. Their last album was fantastic.

Side A was stellar at worst. The other have sagged and stalled all day.
