I think the FF will easily outsell 3DDs in the first week.

Sounds to me this is for them what "The Catalyst" was for Linkin Park. Except it's highly unlikely to alienate their die-hard fans en masse! ;) Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

''When You're Young'' is not doing that good, I think Foo Fighters' lead single is going to be more succesful and then will help the sales. The main reason I'm convinced it won't even be a contest this time around is that the Foo Fighters have had a most consistent career to date commercially of the two. The Foo Fighters are about to release the seventh studio record of their career, and their first five releases all went Platinum with the sales of their sixth falling just a smidgen short of that mark. All with minimal crossover airplay. Meanwhile, 3 Doors Down may have blown any Foo Fighters era sales-wise to date with their blockbuster debut and multi-platinum follow-up, but since then their third and fourth releases have only went Platinum and Gold respectively, and virtually all the sales for both came on the heels of successful multi-format lead singles ("Let Me Go", "It's Not My Time"). * The Foo Fighters also have advantages that transcend generic airplay expectations. The personal connection to Butch Vig and Krist Novoselic this album era has excited many longtime Foo Fighters fans, and perhaps even nostalgic Nirvana fans who have always been on the fence about the Foo Fighters. Also, Dave Grohl just stands out as an all-purpose frontman and contributor that is matched by few in rock music today, and many whose tastes generally lean more towards Queens Of The Stone Age will nonetheless be curious to check into this new material out of respect. Brad Arnold, in contrast................is really known little more than as the frontman of 3 Doors Down. His name recognition fails to extend beyond the scope of the band. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

I think we all know that Dave Grohl is friggin' (rock) God. In all seriousness, regardless of who has top spot, I just hope they both do well for the genre's sake.

Dear Artie, How dare you change the topic title from "Foo Fighters - Rope" to "Rope (Foo Fighters)". *madface* -The Max

Am I the only one here who predicts the Foo Fighters will win the first-week sales face-off by a comfortable margin? Meanwhile, I sense a LOT of excitement among the more perennial fans of the Foo Fighters who have admitted they were beginning to become disinterested in them with their steady stream of ore acoustic-based offerings preceding this forthcoming era. I think the Foo Fighters' latest will be buoyed by a jolt of enthusiasm similar to that of Pearl Jam's last two records, which were heralded as a return to their finest strengths. Not sure if some of that is because you're in the Pacific Northwest (instead of the South)

Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus Sorry - the part where you were sensing the excitement of all the Foo Fighters fans (more than the excitement of 3DD fans), or at least I thought that's what you were saying

You might want to wait for non-Youtube.com quality! Yeah, it might be like that on purpose but I can't see it change all that much.

Odd video. It's also odd to hear Grohl scream so much. And also odd that the last part of the video was from "Long Road to Ruin".

It would've been strange if Walk really was the first single being the last track. There have been last tracks as singles before, so it's not anything truly out of the ordinary.

I said strange. And if you can name 5 without looking, I'd be impressed. And coming from the most anticipated album from the biggest rock band in America, it would've been more than strange to release the final track as the lead single. Eighteen Visions and Evans Blue come to mind right off the bat. Why is it a crime to release a final track as a lead single? Maybe that's the best one to release. Ain't a big deal.

Dude, don't say neither of us can name one. Pen just named TWO. Eighteen Visions and Evans Blue were his examples, and they were both the first singles off their albums too. "Would?" was the lead single off 'Dirt' for Alice In Chains, and that is a closing track. "Pardon Me" by Incubus was the second to last track on 'Make Yourself', which on a 13-track album is kinda the same idea. "Aerials" was not the lead single off System Of A Down's 'Toxicity' album, but it was arguably the most successful, at least chart-wise.

My mom told me earlier that a new Foo Fighters video came out and that the song was heavier than pretty much anything they've ever done. Lo and behold, "White Limo" is awesome. Has Songs for the Deaf written all over it, specifically "You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire". And this live version of "Rope" I'm listening to right now is tantalizing. I really hope this is the album when the band really breaks out and shows off their creative muscle.

I'm super confused.
