I love Dave as a musician but aside from a song or two I just don't care for the FF. Dave's just an average songwriter to me. And generally their music is a little harder than I listen to. Having said that, I hope this is the year of a big rock comeback. I was reading in RS about big bands with new albums this year Coldplay, FF, Radiohead, etc. (of course they failed to mention Matchbox Twenty who have been twittering this is their best album by leaps and bounds). I think they may surprise their critics.
So...I look forward to a lot of new rock this year. I hope Coldplay's is also better than their last. I have two of their albums but I've never had either one on serious repeat. I can only take Chris' vocals in small doses or something.

Is Matchbox 20 still a rock band? They have always been a rock band.

Wow this song is really cool and has a very unique sound especially in the verses (the chorus is more standard). This is the second consecutive lead single I've REALLY liked from these guys. I'm usually a casual Foo Fighters fan at best, but "The Pretender", "Let It Die" and now this are all awesome. So I guess every other single over the last five I've been big fans of. I thought "Long Road To Ruin" was ehhh. I liked "Wheels" fine, but it didn't blow me away. Before that, the only Foo Fighters songs that had wowed me were "Everlong" and the gorgeous "Aurora". I found a lot of their other singles likable, but none of them floored me. I'm assuming this will go #1 on both rock formats, but it doesn't sound quite as commercial / rock radio tailored as "The Pretender".

It's different but nice, not as catchy as though. Not white sure how well it'd do either but if Wheels managed top 5 on Active, then I suppose it'll do fine.

Is Matchbox 20 still a rock band? They have always been a rock band. They've gotten much poppy-ier though. I'm hoping for some rockier material this go around.

Yeah, I gotta say, "How Far We've Come" wasn't really a rock song by current standards. "Bent", "Push", "Crutch", "Real World", "Long Day", "Mad Season", and "Disease" would at least be borderline.

Yeah, they've never been a true 'rock' band, as if they could chart here. 'Rockier' works. :)

Ok, so by never, you mean for the last 10 years then. But I get what you're saying. Even when they were charting here, they were more of a pop/rock band.

Agreed on the first few singles charting. But I haven't heard anything from Matchbox 20 in over a decade I believe.

Artie also exclusively listens to rock radio, so he probably hasn't heard anything since "Bent" or "Crutch".

Not even maybe if you're talking about this week. Unless you meant tomorrow, which I think is fairly likely. Diego, how does one register to get the mediabase access to what you just linked us to?

I'm definitely very impressed with this, but I would be no matter what it sounded like since it's the mother fucking FOO FIGHTERS! I don't see it as strong as some of the other debut singles, but still an excellent track. I agree that they're getting a bit poppier compared to the past, so I'm hoping some of the other choices on the new album have a bit of a harder edge to them. I wouldn't mind some ballads in there as well.

This song doesn't sound poppy to me. While it's not as heavy as some of their past singles, it compensates by being edgier. And the second half is pretty in-your-face.

Heard twice in an hour. Much more melodic than Grohl was hinting. Very Rush-like, as never before. Solid #1 on the way across all three rock formats I assume.

His solo stuff is really poppy.
