Hmmm... 10 weeks at #1 on alternative. 4 or 5 weeks active.

^My prediction would depend a bit on the new Seether song. If that comes roaring up the chart, Foo Fighters may have a serious contender fairly soon. I'd wanna hear "Country Song" before making a judgment of whether it could dethrone the Foos.

^ Me too. I'm very interested to how it sounds. I've heard it starts off sounding country, then rips into an alt-metal riff. I've also heard that the song just pokes fun at country music.

Or it could be a case of the Fighters replacing the Fighters with the followup.

Well, I can help there, I assume. Lady Gaga probably earned 0 adds on Active. I meant on Hot AC. Duh.

The intro is very "Detachable Penis." That's what I thought! :o I'm not sure how much I like this, or "White Limo" for that matter. But at least they're a break from the last two albums' samey singles, and have some of the raw energy that they've been missing. This. cover art I'd completely forgotten that Pat Smear was back in the band.

I like this song enough that I purchased it on iTunes. I like the riffs, beats etc but...I find myself wondering, where's the chorus??

Wow, that's gonna be tough to battle against. The thing is, I probably like this song the best of the three, but I'll be rooting against it hogging #1 until at least Rise Against can get a week in at #1. I'd be fine with "The Cave" missing the top spot honestly.

Based on the numbers I've seen so far this week, I don't really see how Shake Me Down can lose a nearly 300 spin lead in four days to any song other than Rope. And if stations aren't playing it to death like they did the first day it came out, the spin total might actually go down tomorrow after last Wednesday's spins drop off and are replaced by today's.

Weakest lead single of their career, for me. You can't even compare the previous 6 to this, I don't think. I'm pissed that this is gonna keep Rise Against from hitting #1. >:(

I can't really see the Rush comparision, to be honest. This doesn't sound "classic" at all to me. I'm not huge on Rush, though, no.

This is really growing on me now. It pretty much is what I've wanted to hear from them for a while - something that's heavy and energetic, but with a strong melodic hook, and not a carbon copy of what they've done in the past.

The verse/bridge riffs and all the syncopated rhythms and top-flight drumming have earned the song a lot of Rush comparisons from what I've been reading. It's the most proggy song the Foos have done other than maybe "Come Alive" so I'm into it.

The drumming after the second verse with the riff along with it I find are very Rush-like. But this lead single is meh compared to most of their previous ones.

I didn't get around to looking at the Sunday update until last night, but, yeah, I was thinking, "With 'Shake Me Down' still so far ahead of "Help Is on the Way" and "The Cave," why are people thinking either of those songs even have a shot at #1 before "Rope" swings in? Weakest lead single of their career, for me. Yeah, easily. Over time, the only lead single this might end up surpassing for me is "Learn to Fly" and even that's kind of a stretch, since it's already had a 12-year head start.

Because "Rope" is going to start losing spins the next few days before it begins regaining them probably. The window is small, but it's there.

Shake Me Down has its bullet back, so it may take week three before this leaps to the top.

Not sure what's wrong with me, but I keep trying to get into this and I can't - his vocals in the chorus sound out of tune to me, and the word "rope" is just a weird word IMO
I love the Foo Fighters though so glad everyone else in the world loves this song lol

I don't think he sings any notes in the chorus out of tune. And I have perfect pitch so I tend to be especially picky about those types of things.

I've listened to it a fair few times and each time I hear it I like it less.

This kept A Day To Remember from officially going top 10, and now it looks like it's going to keep Rise Against from getting their first #1. :(
Ok song though. I like it more than "The Pretender."

I hope you realize that this would fall into the category of dick-ish or snide or snarky remark that you complain about others making. Just pointing that out next time you make a big deal out of Pen or anyone else making a remark like this about something that you like. And I dislike ADTR myself, but I still felt that this was in poor taste. Unless it was about Hinder or Hollywood Undead, they're the exceptions.
