I hope you realize that this would fall into the category of dick-ish or snide or snarky remark that you complain about others making. Just pointing that out next time you make a big deal out of Pen or anyone else making a remark like this about something that you like. And I dislike ADTR myself, but I still felt that this was in poor taste. Unless it was about Hinder or Hollywood Undead, they're the exceptions. This pretty firmly isn't the same thing but whatever.

I don't see how this is going to be #1 next week, unless something changes drastically. It still has to make up 200 spins, but with only four days remaining.

It was within 63 spins of #1 yesterday. But Shake Me Down found more momentum and may hold it off another week.

Not too impressed with this. If they were trying to go for a video using the 80s style for an homage, they just ended up with something dated. The White Limo video pulled it off far better.

Paladia is supposed to debut it this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing it. They're pretty hit and miss with the videos, but the ones that do stick are pretty good.

For a lead single the music video is really bad and nothing special... what a pity =/
White Limo is way better.

Hooray for home movies! I half expected Dave to introduce the video as "This is what I did on my summer vacation!"

Poor video. Man, everything about this era just sucks, for me.

The video? Or the song in general?

Both suck. Give me "Everlong" & "Learn to Fly". Classic songs & music videos.

Haha I bet you love "Low". The videos for "Best of You", "All My Life" & "The Pretender" were pretty good for what they were, too. I thought "Wheels" was great btw... this just doesn't click.

I get what they were going for, but there's a reason people stopped doing that sort of thing.

After listening to all the songs from the album on youtube, maybe this is going to be my favorite record by them.
I'm happy with the single choice, ''Rope'' is so damn addictive to be a lead single. I hope ''These Days'' to be the next one and a decent video for it.

"Learn To Fly" and "Big Me" are both among my favorite all time music videos from a humor standpoint.

Actually, I hadn't seen Low. Now that I have, I'll admit I laughed. They really need to team up with Jack Black again.

I just heard the song and saw the video for the first time. I'm kind of underwhelmed by both. I like the singing to be more upfront in the song and those lyrics....about the only thing that I could understand was the repeating of, "give me some Rope..." Not terrible but it could be a lot better. The playing is great but the songwriting is just average. About my whole take on David's songwriting in generally with a few songs here and there that I like.

On the other hand the video seems to capture exactly what the band has been promoting for months about this record.

Nope, there are very HQ live performances from all the songs out on youtube! Matter of Time, Burning Bridges, Miss the Misery, Arlandria and Walk, sounds promising!

This takes #1 on Billboard, but I guess Cage the Elephant would get another week on Mediabase. Amirite?

I get what they were going for, but there's a reason people stopped doing that sort of thing. Turns out you were right about what they were going for: "By now you've likely heard that the Foo Fighter's recorded their upcoming new album 'Wasting Light' in a garage. The band appears to be keeping the old school theme for the video for their new single 'Rope,' recording it entirely on VHS. In the video, the five-piece is situated within a cube-like white room, facing inward in a loose circle. The clip later gets a little crazier with flashing orange lights against the dark silhouettes of the band members during a particularly shredding guitar solo. The video recalls the era of early music videos, when it was more about the music and performance than special effects and spruced-up visuals. And the song itself isn't doing so bad, either -- "Rope" spends its second week atop Billboard's Rock Songs chart this week, and also slots in at No. 2 on the Alternative Songs chart, No. 6 on the Active Rock chart and at No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100." source: www.alternativeaddiction.com/musicnews/article/2041/Foos-Keep-Grunge-Theme-For-Rope-Video

The song's alright to me, might need some time to grow as it definitely didn't have the immediate impact of other songs by the Foo

I think if they'd come with a hi-tech video, they'd be contradicting everything the band has been so feverishly promoting with this new record.
