2 weeks from Sunday. This upcoming Sunday it will log week #19 on the chart. Next Sunday, provided it doesn't completely crash out hard and get itself purged, it will remain in the top 40 and log week #20. After that, it doesn't matter whether it's top 40 still or not when July 10th rolls around, because it would be disappearing anyway.

I like it more now than I ever have. All the talk of this being a career-staple, I think will be true.

BTW falls 49-56 on the H100 this week :( I think it's one of the few, if not the only multi week #1 in the past decade or so to go recurrent in the bottom half. I remember Billboard mentioning it when HIAM fell out prematurely, anyone remember the article?

BTW falls 49-56 on the H100 this week :( Turn that frown upside down! BTW is a classic that will still be played 20 years from now (think Madonna) when other current smashes from pop divas will be forgotten (think Taylor Dayne).

I can't really see this getting much airplay in 20 years (think Physical), especially when she's shot off a much more AC-friendly hit with TEOG from this album. Nobody's going to choose this over Poker Face or Bad Romance as the years go on.

Maybe she can have her cake and eat it too. Like a Virgin and other classic Madonna song are all still played interchangably. It could happen with GaGa too.

I agree; it still seems quite popular and bar the horrid intro, the video is one of her best imo... well, one of my favourites anyway. It was always going to be initially massive, but it's longevity after that initial drop-off has surprised me.

This is GaGa's "Vouge" and will stand the test of time as that classic has.

It goes recurrent no matter what if it's lower than #15 and has spent 20 weeks in the top 40.

I thought this would be a quick novelty hit but I still hear it often and constantly hear people referencing it - I think this may end up being one of her signature songs after all.

You can always put periodic updates in the album thread. I feel like it would be more useful over there anyway.
Queen Slaydy GaGa. Born This Way is smashing! The single has maintained a good position that it should pass Alejandro and LoveGame by the end of the year. How well is it projected to do for the yearend airplay chart?

^ Well, if it averages about 1100 spins a week for the rest of the year, that would put it at about 163,000 spins. On last year's year end chart, that would've put it at about #30. However, since the spins are obviously even further inflated from last year with our 14 thousands and all, you can probably expect it to be a little lower than that. So I'd say upper thirties. Which isn't as bad as it sounds - that puts it on the level with songs like 'Carry Out,' 'According to You' and 'Ridin' Solo.'

'Alejandro' was #28 last year and 'Paparazzi' was #28 the year before. Which is close. But still, it's not that bad. Its recurrent spins in future years should make up for it + it's a lot better than we would've originally expected with its fast climb/fast fall + it will still go down remembered and as a massive hit. But anyway, I might be underestimating it. I'm not good at estimating year-end ranks, really.

Yeah, but Alejandro and Paparazzi were the last singles from each era and Paparazzi was released in October while Alejandro was in May. BTW was a lead single released in the second month of the year.

While that is surprisingly low, I think this is a case where the numbers don't matter so much. In the long-run, this song will outlast Alejandro and Lovegame. Time will tell as to whether this or TEOG will be the album's signature single (or even a future single).

This won't be a signature song ... it "held up" because Judas flopped and didn't require any airspace. In effect, Born This Way had a long run because there was no functional 2nd single ... simply spins went straight from Born This Way to Edge of Glory. BTW still crashed quickly at first, but since Judas disappeared so quickly, BTW was able to hold up okay.
Tik Tok's descent slowed after BBB started to struggle and then disappear.

Nearly every #1 crashes soon after peaking before reaching a point of maintaining airplay. Born This Way will easily become one of her more well known hits.
