Ugh. Why couldn't she just leave "Mama's Broken Heart" alone?

I have a bad feeling that Baggage Claim is gonna be one of the strongest songs on the record and that one had to grow on me. I'm not really feeling the other songs she's cut for this album (Mama's Broken Heart, Look at Miss Ohio, Fine Tune) yet. I'll still buy it, though.

She's added "Fastest Girl In Town" to her set-list: The NY Times has a really nice write-up on Four The Record: The 27-year-old country singer Miranda Lambert, whose fourth and latest album, "Four the Record," comes out Nov. 1, is in the rare position, for any young performer, of having nothing in need of proving. But "Four the Record" tries hard anyway, moving into layers of alternativeness and smeared genre, in country and rock and folk, and sound itself.
Did you want to hear the lo-fi, trash-can Lambert? There’s a new track for you here: "Fine Tune." The country-blues Lambert? "Easy Living." The ethereal-minimalist Lambert? "Oklahoma Sky." And, Miranda was interviewed for the October issue of Texas Monthly: Miranda on the song on her new album that she’s most proud of:
"I wrote a song with Blake called 'Over You' which is about his brother, who died in a car accident. It happened when Blake was 14 and his brother was 24. In the car with him was his fiancée and her little two-year-old boy. And they were going to school at seven in the morning and she came over hill and didn’t see a school bus and ran into the school bus and killed them all instantly. Blake has only talked about it a few times, saying it was so long ago, but it was still something haunting him. We wrote this song, sitting on his bus, and it was the only song I ever wrote that I cried while writing it. Blake was crying too. I think it took us two hours to write the song. I said, 'Here you go Blake, it's yours, now sing it.' And he said he didn't think he could ever get through it without breaking down. And he said it felt like it suited my voice better. So, here it is, on my album."

The bonus track on the Deluxe Edition is titled "Hurts To Think." Miranda wrote it with Natalie Hemby & Jessica Bendinger.

I just don't care at all for what she did to the chorus. Really hope it grows on me because I've loved Kacey Musgraves' rendition for ages.

Miranda said that "Over You" could come next: "Well I'm not pregnant, so let's clear that up," she tells Taste of Country, laughing. "I really don't know, but if I had to guess it would be about that song 'Over You,' the potential that it may be the next single." - TasteOfCountry.com

I don't love what I hear, but the actual album should clarify things.

Sounds flawless to me.
OK. Not quite flawless. I still think they're doing too much in regards to the production, it just sounds so loud, cluttered, & murky to me. And, I don't think I'm ever going to be able to forgive her for what she did to "Mama's Broken Heart." But, I do like what I'm hearing for the most part.

"Over You" was the one that stuck out for me from the snippets too. And "Mama's Broken Heart", but I've heard the demo of that one so I already loved it.
Hopefully they'll both be singles. I think MBH has Song of the Year potential.

Over You could be the next big hit for her. Very heartfelt.
I think it's a great follow-up to the fantastic Revolution. I don't hear anything I would tweak too much.

Over You and Same Old You stood out to me. Not feeling any of the other clips. Baggage Claim does sound like the strongest based on the previews. But I'm sure hearing the full songs will probably change my opinion. It needs some fine tuning; get it? It sounds horrendous imo.

I'm not going to judge it till I hear more than the clips, but based on them alone, this is a huge disappointment.

"Over You" is sweet. Kinda reminds me of a Vanessa Carlton song.

Over You is pretty nice. It's a little too sweet though, I'd prefer more sadness/painful emotions in her delivery.

Bringing this over here... Love "Easy Living" & "Dear Diamond." Not particularly caring for "Safe" at the moment, but something tells me that one will be a real grower. And, that's Patty Loveless singing on "Dear Diamond", jsyk.

Big Frog 104 should be airing the Bob Kingsley premiere of Four The Record in about 30 minutes or so. You can stream over here. The album will be played in its entirety alongside commentary from Miranda.
