This is good news! Not only do I like the song a lot, but it's much more of a sure-fire single than the talks swirling around Not the Way I Do.

This song will do great. I think Urban is gonna love this one, and this song is perfect for Quiet Storms. Best choice.

Congrats on 4 weeks at #1 'Tasia! "When I See You" is definitely the hot song of the Summer and "Only One U" will be perfect to take us into fall! I didn't really appreciate the lyrics to it 'til about a month or so ago. Awesome song!

Off the back of WISU, this will be another Top 5 on the R&B chart I think. If only RCA could pull their finger out and make Tasia's minor hits into monster ones.

Most of Her R & B hits haven't been "minor" hits by any means. Truth Is, Free Yourself and her biggest of all "WISU" have been really big R & B hits. The only minor hits she's had would be "Baby Mama" and "Hood Boy". Perhaps you're speaking about other genre's but this board is specifically for Urban so she's at the top right now. All these other songs you see listed on this board? Well, they are all behind WISU, she leads the pack.
They should send her songs to Rhythmic for adds though, I don't know why they don't do it but I would never refer to a person hit songs that reach #1 "minor hits". Especially after toping the billboard Hot 100 rnb, chart nearing 5 weeks now. WISU is a monster R n B hit. She can't help that the label doesn't send to other formats for adds.

Perfect single choice!!!! I Love this jam right here...I assure u this song will go str to # 1 on R&B charts....I want her to switch labels so bad her song is all over the radio u think the label would ship out more copies of her album so she can hit that platinum or double platinum status...But u can't hold a good woman down..Look @ her success!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, Fantasia could use more mainstream success with Rhythmic/Pop outlets supporting her, but her track record so far has not shown "minor hits."
1. Debut single, I Believe, went to #1 on Hot 100 charts and #12 on R&B due to singles sales. 2. Truth Is, 1st album released single, went to #2 on R&B and #21 on Hot 100. 3. Baby Mama went to #16 on R&B and #60 on Hot 100 (minor hit) 4. Free yourself went to #3 on R&B and #41 on Hot 100 5. Ain't Gon' Beg you went to #37 on R&B (minor hit) 6. Hood Boy went #21 on R&B (minor hit) 7. WISU went #1 on R&B and #42 on Hot 100

All these people that are jumping on the 'minor' word I used. I was talking strictly in terms of the Hot 100...I pointed out what people have gone out of their way to point out to me, RCA are to blame, not Tasia. I wasn't disrespecting Fantasia or her success, quite the opposite. The success of When I See U is almost squarely down to her...she's had little promotion or advertising, it's all her. Which is all the more frustrating, as had she had half the promotion of an artist like Carrie Underwood, When I See U would probably have been 'Irreplaceable big' in terms of its effect on worldwide pop culture (as opposed to R&B alone). WISU should have been sent to Pop and Rhythmic...the fact that it wasn't was one of the biggest chart blunders of the last few years. I was saying I only hope her record label get better and handling the success that can't help but emit from her.

The general public doesnt care about your R&B #1 if it hasnt crossed to the mainstream. Thats the bottom line. Her label does need to push her at pop. There is no reason "When i see u" shouldnt be on the pop charts.

Agree. Yep. Mainstreamers don't know that just by turning the dial on their radio, they can hear Fantasia 10 times a day. I still have faint hope that J is waiting for When I See U to fall out of the top spot on R&B before going for ads on pop and/or rhythmic. We'll see. J seems more concerned about Paula DeAnda than Fantasia.

I do agree with that statement about the R&B #1's somewhat. The general public does not necessarily know about those songs if they're not at least serviced to mainstream stations. WISU could've done significantly better. I'm sure many Black folks have heard this song, but the average White listener probably has not even heard it. If the song had better exposure, the song could've been a blast-out hit.

An R & B #1 is fantastic. It is a milestone, it is a career accomplishment. Now, all she needs to do is keep adding to those #1 hits, too bad, so sad for the General public not hearing these great songs. Their lost. But I hear it all the time. Only the third woman to top that chart all year and only the 6th person to do it this year.
Beyonce (4 weeks this year carry over 5 from last year) Ciara (2 weeks) Lloyd (1 one) Robin Thicke (11 weeks) T-Pain (8 weeks) Fantasia (5 weeks and counting)
ETA: I agree her label sucks and should have pushed it for pop but they didn't. I have no idea why so I guess we have to be happy that it's a big hit some place.

The general public doesnt care about your R&B #1 if it hasnt crossed to the mainstream. Thats the bottom line. Her label does need to push her at pop. There is no reason "When i see u" shouldnt be on the pop charts. This is coming from a big Jennifer Hudson fan, right? You can't tell me that you wouldn't be happy happy happy if when Jennifer released her album she shot to #1 on the billboard hot 100 r n b chart with a single, Wouldn't you just love that? Would you really be talking about "general public" and her #1 hit not meaning anything? That's like saying an r n b grammy doesn't matter because the general public doesn't listen to that music. Oh it matters, all #1 hits matter, especially these types of hits. Now if we were talking about being #1 on Urban AC, then I'd agree, but this is a biggie (although Urban AC is still an accomplishment). To put it not perspective. Jennifer went to #16 on the billboard r n b chart and 60 on the hot 100 with "And I'm telling You". Now if that couldn't be a huge radio hit, then you know it's not all that easy to do, so, if you achieve it, it is to be celebrated. Anytime one of the most celebrated songs of the year (even won an Oscar and previously was a #1) can't crack top 10 in R n B radio, then it isn't easy at all.
