Nor do I. Even as an exception to the rule, Mariah still had her share of under performing radio hits in the 90s following an unprecedented string of hits that kicked off her chart run. It didn't ruin her career when Butterfly and then My All both failed to make the Top 10 just like it won't ruin GaGa's career that Judas and Marry The Night both failed to make the Top 10.

Which pop radio chart is this? Mediabase (before 1993) and then Billboard's Mainstream Top 40.

Obviously this is correct and I wasn't disputing this. I just wanted to clarify some things about her chart history because she was brought up in the discussion :)

Oh. Lol. I assume she was brought up to prove point that Gaga is having a flop too early in her career or something. Lol
If there's anything Mariah is capable of showing is that you can make a massive comeback after a string of flops. She taught me never to doubt anyone again. Marry The Night isn't a big hit but it's almost refreshing that she's not going to have every single be huge. It helps to make her big hits even more definitive.

Up to #14 on American Top 40 this week. It was #21 on the last chart, three weeks ago. :)

I'd absolutely laugh if this turned around and smashed. I know it won't happen.. but has a song ever looked to flop horribly, and then all of a sudden turned around when it was least expected?

I think Fuck U's resurrection qualifies for that, after stopped being played, it got a top 3(?) peak on CHR, and #2 Hot 100(?).

Forget You peaked at #1 on CHR the second time around.
It would be kinda funny if this did the same thing. I'm not even sure it's over yet. I'm afraid it is, though. :(
It's a shame, too. I thought it'd be a top 5 hit some time in February.

U + Ur Hand had a -100 bullet before debuting on AT40 (it only debuted because it was sucked upwards by recurrents and falling songs) and then blew up after that.

I thought he was talking about overall, which is what I go by.

Billboard isn't "overall", Billboard is its own entity. I was referring to the CHR/Pop chart. I especially wouldn't use Billboard if I'm referring to mid-90s chart stats (which in this case I was when mentioning Mariah) because of the lack of singles releases. Plus, songs like My All did go to #1 and I may catch a lot of flack for this but that particular song sticks out like a sore thumb amongst a lot of Mariah's chart toppers. I just don't consider the mid-to-late 90s to be very accurate when registering hits which is why I typically refer to the more consistent CHR/Pop chart, even today.

Is this a resurgence?

^^^All songs are having massive gains, so comparing this with the others, this is actually a lackluster update.

The good thing is marry the night didnt lose spins.I know the increase is small compared to all the other songs but it still it gained which is a good thing.stiil probably shouuld wait a couple of more days or the end of the week and see how its doing then before we can judge if its gonna make a resurgance.

I mean, I realize it's because of the January defrost if you will, but wouldn't it be hilarious if it picked back up? haha

I hope it does. I know the update is small compared to the others, but it's a fresh change of pace compared to where it was a week ago.
