"Mr. Know It All" has been chugging along, though- it's at 22* on Hot 100 Airplay. So, it's definitely performing better at radio than "Never Again." :)

160-170k are some pretty strong numbers considering the lead single has underwhelmed on the charts and is not that popular. Idk why anyone would think of these numbers are disappointing. Because we are talking about the Chameleon...the voice of our generation.... OMG, you just don't get it!

She clearly still has a good amount of loyal fans but she was still in better overall standing with the general public at the time NA flopped than she is now, despite Mr. No being a few places higher. I think these numbers show a lot of potential for this era.

Well, it's true that NA followed the massive Breakaway album, but even that didn't help NA get any higher than No. 47 on Hot 100 Airplay. I don't see Clarkson's projection as shocking of even disappointing.

Its better to sell less in the beginning.
Breakaway didn't get a big open and it looks like it is 6x platinum.

Uusing Breakaway as an example? That was her breakthrough album. In this climate, the new album will be lucky to sell 1/6 of what that album sold.

Coldplay's Latest Staying Off Streaming Services
LOS ANGELES - British band Coldplay is withholding its latest album, "Mylo Xyloto," from all-you-can-listen streaming services such as Spotify and Rhapsody - making it the biggest band yet to express reservations about a system that pays artists a fraction of a penny every time someone listens to a song.
The decision for the hot-selling album, released Tuesday, is a blow to such services, which have millions of tracks available but rely on new tunes to keep listeners interested.
Consumers typically pay $10 a month for the right to pick any track or album from a library of millions and listen on demand via online streaming. Users can also download songs to mobile devices. Some services offer lengthy trials or free options with ads.
Usually, new tracks are available on the services on Tuesday, the same day they are released for sale.
The lack of availability of Coldplay's fifth album on subscription plans could push consumers to buy the album outright.
Coldplay's recording company, EMI, said in a statement "We always work with our artists and their management on a case by case basis to deliver the best outcome for each release."
Rhapsody president Jon Irwin said he respects the band's decision and needs to do a better job explaining the benefits of the subscription system to artists.
In an editorial he wrote for Billboard magazine on Monday, Irwin said he agreed that some reported royalties paid to artists - as low as 0.015 cents per play on Spotify and 0.91 cents on Rhapsody - "seem awfully small."
By comparison, recording labels and artists share about 70 percent of the $1.29 per track or $9.99 per album when music is bought on Apple Inc.'s iTunes.
Irwin argued that royalties from subscription music plans are recurring, not one-time as is the case with iTunes sales. Thus, he said, revenue will build over time.
And in any case, he said it is better than what artists get paid for pirated songs - zero.
"Those plays for that artist, they're going to get compensated by it," he said in an interview Thursday. "That goes on forever, and it doesn't end with the sale of an MP3" song file.
Spotify said in a statement that it also respects the decision of any artist regarding where their songs are made available.
But the company pointed out that its service has "convinced millions of consumers to pay for music again." Spotify said it has paid $150 million to recording companies, artists and publishers since its launch three years ago.
Spotify has said it has more than 2 million paying customers globally, while Rhapsody is the leading service in the U.S. with more than 800,000 subscribers. Other popular subscription services include MOG and Rdio.
Early indications are that "Mylo Xyloto" will be one of the top-selling albums of the year. Its debut single "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" has racked up sales of 763,000 so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and Billboard estimates between 440,000 and 450,000 copies of the album will be sold through Sunday.
Coldplay's managers did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Thank god they revised the GaGa prediction. That was way too high, even for her.
Those are good numbers for Kelly considering everything. It's up to the label to save the album with the right promo and singles.

Kaskade also had his album release this week. I wonder if it will at least break 15K.

""Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" has racked up sales of 763,000 so far" LOL is that an achievement? It's nothing stellar, but it's surely not a failure either. The way that was promoted as a single was poorly executed to begin with. As you may recall, when it was first released, there was no announcement as to whether it would even be on "Mylo Xyloto", and many fans thought it was simply a promotional single for the purpose of preparing fans for what to expect in their string of summer festival shows. Then, we learned it was the lead single from an digital three-track EP of the same name, exclusively for iTunes. Still, though, it was never advertised initially as the lead single from "Mylo Xyloto". Finally, we learned that it would be included on "Mylo Xyloto" the same day the release date for "Paradise" was made official. Even now, some fans now regard "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" as the album's lead single, while others still insist it is not one of the album's singles and that "Paradise" is actually the lead single. * So, I just think "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" was a mess in terms of its promotion. Considering the confusion with regards to what it was promoting, I'd say it has done remarkably well in its radio run, even if it has lacked staying power. But I do think it would have performed much better if EMI and the band had just stated, no nonsense, that it was the lead single from "Mylo Xyloto" and that they intended to release a second single prior to the album's debut. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

I just think it's funny that they highlighted it in the same context than the album's first week sales... 450k is a good sales for the album and then for on reason or another they mention ETIAF's sales: 763k in three months for a single.. Just made me laugh, that's all.
Paradise will probably outsell ETIAF.

^I don't follow album charts very well, but could Florence + The Machine be a good first-week seller as well? I don't think so. Their debut sold 1,400k in the 1st week, but went gold (770k+). They don't have a lot of buzz right now. Hopefully they'll get a hit & sell pretty well, again :) ***I just saw their predictions. It's 80k, which is pretty decent.

Why is Kelly Clarkson a "chameleon?" Does she exhibit any "Karma" (showing my age)?
"Never Again" did not flop. It was stopped.

Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' On Track For 2011's Third Highest Debut
October 31, 2011 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles
As previously reported, Coldplay is easily cruising to its third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week as "Mylo Xyloto" will top the tally. While on Wednesday, the set was projected -- by industry sources -- to sell at least 440,000 to 450,000 copies by week's end on Oct. 30, that prognostication has grown a bit.
Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Buble Headed For Top of Billboard 200
"Mylo" should start with a minimum of 450,000 -- and could be bigger, depending on how the weekend shakes out. With lots of people out shopping this weekend for the Halloween holiday, anything is possible. A sales start north of 440,000 would secure Coldplay the third-biggest sales week of the year, behind Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" start (964,000). On SoundScan's Building chart below -- a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants, Coldplay is expectedly found at No. 1.
Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" is at No. 2 on the Building Chart, while Michael Buble's new "Christmas" album sits at No. 3. Clarkson's new album is poised to become her fifth top three on the Billboard 200, with around 150,000 in sales. It follows 2009's "All I Ever Wanted," which launched at No. 1 with 255,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Buble's first full-length holiday offering could sell around 125,000 -- and is doing better than expected. Also projecting as a solid top 10 debut on the Building Chart is Toby Keith's "Clancy's Tavern" (No. 5) which would be the country star's 10th straight studio album top debut in the upper tier. Other top 10 entries could come from chart veteran Tom Waits and dance act Kaskade. For Waits, his "Bad As Me" set could become his first ever Billboard 200 top 10 in a chart career that began in 1975. See Chart Below:
Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart Rank LW
BB 200 Artist Title 1 NEW Coldplay "Mylo Xyloto" 2 NEW Kelly Clarkson "Stronger" 3 NEW Michael Buble "Christmas" 4 1 Adele "21" 5 NEW Toby Keith "Clancy's Tavern" 6 3 Scotty McCreery "Clear As Day" 7 NEW Tom Waits "Bad As Me" 8 7 Lady Antebellum "We Own the Night" 9 NEW Kaskade "Fire & Ice" 10 6 Lil Wayne "Tha Carter IV"
The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

I was wondering what happened to Kaskade because he wasn't in the early predictions. If he's in between Lady A and Weezy like they are reporting then he at least did 30K off iTunes alone!

Love how this represent 90% of Adele's total vs. 25% of Coldplay's suggested numbers.
