CommentsA new year and a brand new chart to kick off 2016. Anyways since this is the week where everyone is gaining back their bullets including the songs that are falling, don't expect a lot of movement to happen this week. Anyways looking to be at the top for a third straight week looks to be Thomas Rhett "Die A Happy Man". Also as it stands it looks like Jason Aldean will have to settle for a #2 peak on BB as the attempt to level off on airplay and try this week to hit the top were too big too ignore as Thomas Rhett prohibited it on MB and BB. So look for Jason Aldean to be falling this time next week.
Elsewhere on the charts LoCash are about to pick up their first Top 3 song with "I Love This Life". I do expect them to hit the top once Thomas Rhett clears out. Brothers Osborne will spend another week at #4 but they will also probably be at the top once LoCash spends their week up at the top. Sam Hunt meanwhile should enter the Top 5 with Tim McGraw, Cam, and Blake Shelton all appearing to be done. Jana Kramer and Luke Bryan continue to move pass the falling songs as Tim is trying to flatline more than anything but he should be done shortly with "Humble and Kind" being announced the new single. Blake is definitely falling and he should spend his last week right below Jana. Jana herself is really starting to benefit from the falling songs and I might have to take back my words from before I'm starting to see Jana Kramer "I Got The Boy" as a likely Top 5 once Jason Aldean and Thomas Rhett clear out. Cam has definitely been falling and falling hard as she finds herself falling down a lot. Unfortunately no news yet on what's going to be the new single but that announcement should come shortly.
Now below the Top 10 we have Granger Smith and Kelsea Ballerini both trying to get into the Top 10 next week Kelsea might be able to sneak pass Granger this week but I think she'll be staying behind from now on. Randy Houser has sneaked ahead of Keith Urban and Brad Paisley as Brad in particular hasn't exactly been getting quite back all the airplay as he should fall back a little as Keith Urban might be able to pass him as well. Zac Brown Band continue to remain just outside the Top 15 but have definitely pulled ahead of Eric Church. Eric himself is doing rather well and I'm expecting him to really takeoff come the new year. Carrie Underwood "Heartbeat" continues to do well but Chase Bryant "Little Bit Of You" is in hot pursuit. Finally it looks like the last Top 20 spot will be up for grabs between Florida Georgia Line "Confession" and Rascal Flatts "I Like The Sound Of That" as FGL has really closed the gap between the two songs.
Chris Stapleton should next week pick up his first Top 20 as a singer with "Nobody To Blame". Now I'm not sure if A Thousand Horses will re-enter. On the one hand BB already said "Drunk Dial" is recurrent but it has gained back it's bullet. I've decided that BB will leave them off but I won't be surprised either way. Elsewhere Lee Brice looks to temporarily pass Brett Eldredge as I think Lee is trying to have a BB Top 20 finish which is doable if he stays ahead of Brett. Also a surprise is that it looks like Michael Ray "Real Men Love Jesus will move pass Cole Swindell "You Should Be Here" temporarily. Old Dominion "Snapback" and Dustin Lynch "Mind Reader" look to have a close photo finish. Tyler Farr "Better In Boots" and Brantley Gilbert "Stone Cold Sober" look to wrap up the Top 30.
Maddie & Tae look to set a new peak of #31 with "Shut Up & Fish" as David Nail really struggles this week as Frankie Ballard and even Jon Pardi look to pass David Nail. I'm unsure of what'll happen to "Night's On Fire" as I can see the label giving up since it's been on the chart for a while now. Frankie Ballard and Jon Pardi are also looking to enter the Top 30 next week with Maddie & Tae. Elsewhere Canaan Smith is looking to try and stay ahead of Easton Corbin as Easton continues to do not much of anything. Kip Moore has the lead on a group of tightly knit group of songs including Little Big Town "Pain Killer" William Michael Morgan "I Met A Girl and Chris Lane "Fix". Chris Lane in particular has had a strong week and is set to pick up his first Top 40 as he passes Eric Paslay and Justin Moore for sure and might be able to pass Little Big Town and William Michael Morgan. Justin Moore unfortunately looks to get temporarily pushed out of the Top 40 with "You Look Like I Need Drink" but he will be back there next week.
Due to some of the bigger stations look for Drake White to move swiftly through the 40s as Drake should soon hit the Top 40. Dylan Scott might be able to pass Eric Paslay but both men are struggling trying to fit into the Top 40 as while both men got back the audience lost from Christmas they haven't done much else. Chris Janson continues to do rather fine and he might be able to pass Eric Paslay next week. Mo Pitney "Boy & A Girl Thing" should easily re-enter and should also set a new peak. Scotty McCreery looks to get setback a little as I think he's nearing the end of the road. Hank Williams Jr should also get setback a little bit but with his album about to come out I imagine he'll get a little boost in the next couple of weeks. Love & Theft look to possibly sneak pass Lindsay Ell and Lauren Alaina but neither lady is going down without a fight as all 3 acts are actually gaining quite nicely and the results should be very close.
The continuation of songs stuck in the 50s continue as Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, Cassadee Pope, and Toby Keith continue. None of the songs have had a particularly strong week but each will move up a little as Ryan Kinder and Charles Kelley have stayed rather flat and will be falling back a few spots as they haven't been able to break ahead of the others either. Sam Hunt "Raised On It" and Chris Stapleton "Tennessee Whiskey" should both re-gain their bullet as both songs continue to take up space at the bottom of the charts. Finally look for hyped up newcomer Maren Morris to debut with "My Church" although Chris Young & Cassadee Pope "Think Of You" might sneak in instead. Regardless both will probably be in next week.
For songs that will be in the bubbling under section of the AirPlay Chart look to see either Maren Morris or Chris & Cassadee (both if A Thousand Horses manages to re-enter) Danielle Bradbery with "Friend Zone" as she and Sister C "Faint Of Heart" is mainly getting support from KSCS in Dallas. Other songs that look to be gaining just outside the Top 60 is Justin Timberlake "Drink You Away", Kenny Chesney "Drink It Up", Ashley Campbell "Remembering", (although I doubt Ashley re-enters anytime soon) Josh Abbott Band "Amnesia" mainly through KSCS. Big & Rich Loving Lately getting AirPlay before their official add date. Along with that Clint Black continues to get a little help and the new songs from Jennifer Nettles, David Fanning, Tara Thompson, and Trace Adkins are also getting a little bit of AirPlay. Finally Lee Brice has his album track Sirens recently aded to one of the stations. So we will see what happens later on this year. Also
