Anybody have any word on when Canaan Smith's debut CD will be coming out? Last I heard they had all the tracks recorded and ready and they were just deciding what to put on the album and the order so just wondering if anyone has any updates? I'd say probably not until very late this year. The debut single "We Got Us" flamed out quickly. My guess is that Mercury will send out another single in the coming weeks and they'll work that to radio. Typically, a big label like Universal won't put out a debut album until they get that breakthrough hit, kinda like what we're seeing with other big label newcomers including Jana Kramer, The Farm, and Love And Theft. They all have songs headed for the top 20. I think Canaan will need something like that as well, or the product won't sell (he's not established enough yet). And if the product isn't gonna sell, the label won't make money. They need that radio hit to give it exposure. Other guys like Brett Eldredge and JT Hodges have had their albums done now for many months but are still waiting on that breakthrough hit as well.

Reading about new CDs from Lee Ann Womack & Alan Jackson on the same day is beyond exhilirating; talk about an embarassment of riches.
Two of the very first country CDs I purchased were her stunning debut CD which will be fifteen years old come Mother's Day, and his too-deep-to-believe 'Everything I Love' masterpiece, and I still play both of them quite a bit.
News such as this certainly made my day as well; I'm ecstatic, to put it mildly.

It will likely push "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" off that album whenever/if it comes out.

Yes, That's the likely case. I thought Signs was brilliant and a likely hit (still could be) but Brett's been writing some good new stuff. He's performing in Nashville next week so we'll likely know the new single name then.

I loved that song, so I'm ok with that I guess, but "Signs" NEEDS to be a single. Maybe they can save that one for when Brett has a little momentum. I'm confident that that song would be a big hit for someone a little more established like Billy Currington or Jake Owen. Hopefully Brett can turn "Signs" into a hit at some point.

I took what he said to mean that they will replace It Ain't Gotta Be Love with the newer recordings being considered for future singles (its not uncommon for flop singles with these newer artists to meet such a fate).

Question -- is the Eden Edge Skinny Dippin track the same as Whitney Duncans song from a few years ago?

Edens Edge definitely has a fair share of religious-sounding tracks on their album. Hopefully the other ones are like Amen and don't really sound as their titles may suggest. I'm here for country music, not CCM; and while I love plenty of good country songs that follow such topics, a song title like "Christ Alone" makes me weary of it being cheesy and over-the-top.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to hearing their album in full. "Who Am I Drinking Tonight" sounds like an interesting track.
