Yeah! I wouldn't mind having "One Way Ticket" as a single. I really like the lyric "life is like a ride on a party bus"; I find it a little amusing. I also enjoy ZBB and Kenny (the latter to a lesser extent), so that could be why I enjoy it so.

Wow. These songs sound great. I must say, though, that I might be the only one not really feeling "Forever Changed" based on that clip. I like a great love song, and maybe this one will be that, but it sounded too mushy in those 30 seconds, and not real. I guess I'm pretty picky when it comes to serious love songs.
"Blown Away" the song also sounds...interesting. Not sure if I like the different vocals at the start of the clip but within the full song maybe it will sound better. On to the good stuff, though!
*Two Black Cadillacs - This one sounds quite promising. I really liked how it started out with the background singing of "two black cadillacs"...it sounded quite dark and haunting. *See You Again - this one sounds really good. Probably the least country-sounding one besides GG, but I'm ok with it because it just sounds like a great song. *Do You Think About Me - sounds like a strong, bittersweet sort of song. Love the vocals and instrumentation. I think this one is gonna be a favorite of mine. *Nobody Ever Told You - this is another one that has some great country instrumentation. Vocals sounded a tad off when she started singing "mirror, mirror" but other than that it sounded solid. *One Way Ticket - now this one is fun. Definitely another favorite. *Thank God For Hometowns - pretty good song, though I'm not a huge fan of the title...I wish it was a little less generic, but hopefully the song has some pretty specific lyrics. The clip sounded pretty good. *Good In Goodbye - sounds like a stellar ballad/mid-tempo *Leave Love Alone - I was a bit confused when a lot of people didn't like the demo. Sure, it seemed to have simple lyrics, but I think it really works here and Carrie sounds really good on this one. I also LOVE the instrumentation. *Cupid's Got A Shotgun - I wasn't fond of the title--didn't know what to expect. But this one packs a punch and I love what I'm hearing in that clip. *Wine After Whiskey - this is one of the best songs Carrie has recorded. Well-written, and well-sung. Not over-the-top or over-blown in sound. Just perfect. *Who Are You - this one seems to be a pretty good closer. Definitely a little different but I think I like it.
Not a bad song on here. I'll have to see if the song "Blown Away" really jumps out at me upon first listen...I like the theme behind it and the lyrics, but I'm hoping that the different vocals from the beginning of the clip don't sound as jarring (or jarring to any extent) when I hear the full song. And I won't dislike "Forever Changed" if I can get behind the whole song...that's really the only one I'm unsure of at this point.
Can't wait to hear it in full in just a week, and then to own it a week after that! :)

There are some songs I really like and some that are just sub-par for me. I LOVE LOVE Forever Changed! I really liked See You Again and Blown Away. But I'll reserve my judgement on the rest til I hear the full versions. All and all I'm pretty impressed!

This sounds like it might be her best album yet. I'm actually shocked. I was yearning for more dramatic/epic songs like "Sometimes You Leave" and "Starts With Goodbye" and it looks like she actually has quite a bit of them here.
Namely "Two Black Cadillacs" and "Blown Away". "See You Again" and "Forever Changed" sound pretty good also.
Has a similar sound to "Some Hearts".

This album sounds like what she said before 'more drama'. It's the mix between SOME HEARTS and CARNIVAL RIDE and thank God there's no Boy bashing song, except GG.

I've definitely been feeling vibes from this album reminiscent of those I felt during the SH era. Yet, the songs are all so different from anything Carrie has ever done. So peculiar, if you ask me. But it has to be a good sign! Listening to clips when CR and PO came out, I remember being able to pick out songs I could do without. For the life of me, I cannot do that with this collection of songs. There's something so intriguing about all of them. So impressed - only by 7 minutes of clips! Cannot wait for the entire thing. Literally counting down the days and hours.

Having not heard clips, it seems from reading the reviews out here that 'Blown Away' was quite unexpected sonically, 'Cupid' is a real aggressive uptempo, and production is top-notch. I also have noticed that there seems to be several different songs which Pulse folks have gravitated to, which speaks highly to the variety that Carrie has described about the upcoming record. I have a question for you and for anyone else who would be so kind as to respond: From the limited exposure of only song clips, does this record seem to have many good individual songs or does this record also seem to feel like a cohesive collection of songs that follow a theme or sound ? Thanks in advance for your responses !

Besides "See You Again" being one of the songs that came out from Narnia writing session, which are the tracks that were actually on hold from previous album era? (if any)

Thanks in advance for your responses ! I think this album stands as a collection songs that follow a theme. It's more like SH and CR that really describes a theme. Not like PO which was more like individual songs. BUT, that's my opinion. :) It's very VERY country and Carrie's vocal is very smooth and soft in some parts and very strong in other parts, but there's minimal belting. :)

I have a question for you and for anyone else who would be so kind as to respond: From the limited exposure of only song clips, does this record seem to have many good individual songs or does this record also seem to feel like a cohesive collection of songs that follow a theme or sound ? Thanks in advance for your responses ! Honestly, it's more filled with individually amazing songs. I know some look for more cohesive albums with a common theme. This album does not have a true overall theme. But there is a flow, I must say, a peaceful balance of each type of song. If I had to pinpoint a theme or an overtone, it'd be that this album is inspirational. Not like "So Small", instead, the songs seem to tell specific, dramatic stories which ultimately teach lessons. Teach lessons, or simply lay out real-life situations to which many people will find relatable. She meant it when she said there's something for everyone. I don't think there's a human on Earth who couldn't relate to at least one of these songs. I think that's the overall theme, if it could be called a theme. Whether this is bad or good, I don't know and couldn't tell you. I think liking cohesiveness throughout an album, or the lack of it is subjective. I love all of Carrie's albums, but absolutely none of them have main, central themes. Instead, they're all collections of amazing songs. I personally think this will be her best collection. I know it's early to say this based on clips, but I've never been this excited and pleased with 30 second snippets like I am tonight. I hope that helps to answer your question. I give you props on waiting to listen to the album in full, and I guarantee it'll be worth the wait - I just know you'll agree with that!

The lyrics for Blown Away are fantastic in the little clip that we have.
The songs on this album have different sounds and styles. It is more of a story telling album. I don't know if there is a theme for say but it takes you on a journey from almost thinking you know who you are until everyone gets torn apart by abuse and cheating. To having to mourn the loss of a mothers memory and love and finding the lessons within those and finally finding love and in the end questioning "Who Are You"?

It's a collection of stories and life lessons, basically. Like I said, I think there will be something on this album to which everyone can relate. This is the first album from Carrie to do so. Easily her most diverse and complex body of work.

Just listened to the clips. Blown Away, See You Again, and Good in Goodbye impressed me the most. Gaah, I wish the clips were longer. 30 seconds is way too short!

The songs flow very well, taking us on an emotional roller coaster. :) From being the naive girl in Good Girl being told to open her eyes.... to experiencing extreme hurt, pain and anger in Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs .... then finding peace, love and joy again, with some sad goodbyes along the way...... then maturing and looking back at all the life experiences, acknowledging that God gave her the strength to endure through all that.

^^ Wow, thanks everyone for the responses. Besides being a new Carrie record, reading y'alls' descriptions of individual songs as "story-tellers" has me far more excited than any other aspect of this project. IMO, Carrie is among only a few artists who have the rare capability of taking the listener through a budgetless journey simply by utilizing her vocals as the vehicle and the lyrics/production as the road. Obviously, such a journey requires well-written and well-produced songs as the foundation, which her last album consistently failed to do for me. It seems from the reviews here that Carrie may be gravitating toward what I consider to be the country genre's best asset: their incredible stories. In 13 days, I surely will silence my smartphone, demand quiet in my place, grab a glass a wine, and listen to my copy of the new record in surround sound without any interruptions. I have already placed this event on my calendar, lol:

I don't really know how to describe it, but I feel as if the songs stand as individuals, and yet at the same time, I think the album could be deemed cohesive as well. It's kinda like what Carrie said--somewhat darker. Not crazy dark, but there are some darker songs and then some that are less dark but still have a somewhat sad feeling to them. There are several songs that don't fit the "dark" mold though either, but they still seem to "fit" the album. Even the more inspirational songs still either have a hint of sadness, or recall pain as one tries to move on. "Forever Changed" is clearly gonna be an inspirational love song of sorts, but it sounds kinda sad at the same time. "See You Again" is hopeful but also kinda sad. "Nobody Ever Told You" is a more positive song, but in it, Carrie's clearly referencing how people are often too negative and they should be more positive. Then there's the somewhat nostalgic "Thank God For Hometowns"...not a dark song but there's still a little something of sadness there. To me, it's not a universal theme but it doesn't come across as jumbled either. The 3 songs that seem most "different", in my opinion, are "One Way Ticket", "Leave Love Alone", and "Cupid's Got A Shotgun". OWT is a groovy summertime song--nothing sad in that 30 second clip. But I love that one. CGAS is a rockin' uptempo that's pretty sassy. Then there's LLA--not really sure how to describe this one, other than maybe "urgent"...that's kinda what I'm getting from Carrie's vocals there. She can't leave love alone, like she's addicted to it, but it doesn't come across as a bad addiction in this portrayal, if that makes any sense. I don't know how to describe most of them better than what I've said. All I know is that I'm sold. All the clips sound really good to me. And I promised myself I wouldn't do this based on 30-second clips, but I'm already trying to pick singles Here's what I got right now, but it could change 1) Good Girl 2) Blown Away 3) Cupid's Got A Shotgun 4) Wine After Whiskey 5) One Way Ticket I also would put "Leave Love Alone", "Do You Think About Me", "Good In Goodbye", and "Thank God For Hometowns" toward the top of my single choices.

I think the album is cohesive sonically. I can't put my finger on it, but I think the flow is in the production and the sound of the songs.

After several listens, I'm still liking BA, TBC, OWT, Cupid and WAW. I like the sound of TBC but in that clip I can't tell enough and don't know if it would be single material. The surprise like for me was One Way Ticket. I can't get that groove out of my head and keep going back to it.

Based solely on the clips, single choices are... 1) Good Girl (Feb-May) 2) Blown Away (May-Sept) 3) Two Black Cadillacs (Sept-Jan) 4) Cupid's Got A Shotgun (Jan-May) 5) One Way Ticket (May-August) 6) Wine After Whiskey This was really hard... All the songs are fantastic. PS: To assist with the crossover for this album, let's all vote excessively here: popdust.com/pop-off/

YES! YES! YES!!! Carrie may be a little hazy on the definition of "soon" and the concept of the countdown, but she doesn't lie. From the clips alone, I think I'm ready to declare that this is indeed her best album yet. "Blown Away" sounds f*ckin' EPIC! That's an accurate way to describe it. The sound was completely unexpected and I cannot wait to hear the whole song. I do hear Eurythmics, and Coldplay too. I think "Forever Changed" will be one of those songs which I'll keep listening to repeatedly to appreciate all of the nuances. This sounds like interpretive-singer-Carrie at her best. The way she sings "how her heart seemed to flutter with the wind".... *sigh*.
"Nobody Every Told You" aka The Lion King song makes me smile every time I get to it. Yes, even with the awoo-awoo sounds. Another completely unexpected sound when I heard it. Just goes to show how much Carrie is trying out different sounds on this album and somehow makes it all work. Come on, AWOO-AWOO!? Really?!
"Leave Love Alone" and "Wine After Whiskey" are both demos that weren't particular standouts to me on first listen, but I'm loving them here. LLA just sounds so fun and foot-stompy. WAW is an earworm that just stays with you.
Over-all, just from the clips, thumbs up on the vocals, songwriting, production and diversity! I love how Carrie's vocals are front and center and the production supports her by setting the tone and the feel. I love how the sound of each instrument is clear and has a purpose. Finally! Thank you, Mark Bright! And thank you to Carrie. After 7 years of being a fan, she can still surprise me this much and give me goosies.
If 30-second clips can do this much to me, Lord help me when I hear the full album.
ETA: For those who haven't heard this interview yet, Carrie talks about "Blown Away," "Forever Changed" and Brad playing on "Cupid's Got a Shotgun."

Based on the clips, I would like the singles to be: 1. GG 2. Blown Away 3. Cupid's Got a Shotgun 4. Wine After Whiskey 5. Two Black Cadillacs
I'm really feeling the clip for Forever Changed but since Carrie has said she probably won't perform it live, that seems to rule it out as a single. I think I will probably also really like See You Again and Who Are You. There are three I'm questionable on: Nobody Ever Told You, Leave Love Alone, and One Way Ticket (I'm just not big into the Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band sound).

Not sure how I feel about this from the clips. I grew to really love the ballads on Play On because they're so personal. These tracks seem to take a step back from that, where they could be songs by anyone. Carrie sounds great, instruments are great, so this may be a come into your own type album, but based solely on the clips she sounds a bit detached. I do agree it's very cohesive and seems to just flow. I'm still intrigued for the full album.

Carrie sounds great, instruments are great, so this may be a come into your own type album, but based solely on the clips she sounds a bit detached. I do agree it's very cohesive and seems to just flow. I'm still intrigued for the full album. I'm with you. It's totally different.

I suspected Carrie would really bring it with the crossover appeal this album, and judging from what I've heard, I think I was right. Sounds great from what I've heard. Should be a fun era.

Does anyone know if Carrie will be performing on Idol this season? 100% for sure. Just waiting on the date. If I had to guess, I'd say May 3.
