Yeah I really think the record company should've moved on by now. This is just risky. It will probably flop. I want it to hit the Top 10 of the HOT 100 but I think people are just ready for a break from Katy.

I want it to hit the Top 10 of the HOT 100 but I think people are just ready for a break from Katy. I agree that it's probably better to stop now, let her take a break and come back harder. But her singles are still being downloaded, she still has a high demand rate, and she has a concert movie being released. Out of 7 singles released this era, 7 have been huge worldwide hits. Even if Wide Awake flops (which I don't think it will, but it'll probably underperform for her high standards), it's not like it will tarnish her career. It's a different song for her, and it could do wonders for her, just like Thinking of You (which expander her fanbase BIG TIME, even if it was a chart flop)

This is one of my favorite Katy songs. I think it'll do well.

I don't think people are tired of her yet.

Not every song has to hit the Top 10 to be successful. WA is different enough from the other singles to release. Plus, the multi-format recurrent play of the songs from this project indicate there is interest in KP. I think it would be great to release HH in August/September. Take the disc through another 4Q and then release new stuff in late Spring 2013.

I have loved every single from this era, but this is too much and certainly not up to par at all with what preceded it.

Her 3D movie is going to come out in a few months, so why not have another single on the radio at the same time?
I say, give Wide Awake a shot.

Ugh. This does not sound like a hit to me. I'd rather they end the era on a high note.

There's no point in releasing this. It's boring, and she is running this era into the ground. Oh yea, she's big time running this era into the ground. My God, Part of Me didn't even go number one on pop radio, and TOTGA didn't even go number one on the Hot 100..... SERIOUSLY? If the songs weren't successful, then maybe it wouldn't make sense to keep releasing stuff. It's kind of justified because all of the singles are consistently doing extremely well. I'm not so sure about this. Dressin' Up would've been the one I'd have gone with. Its production is different than all of ther other singles. But then again, this will be her last Dr. Luke single. So they might as well see how it will do. For sure Hot AC smash, if it only goes top 10 pop. And it does keep her name out there during the movie premiere.

#3 on either Hot 100 or CHR at best; likely just a top 10 on each.

I actually quite like this. It's certainly better than anything else she's released after ET.

Ke$ha went 6 deep. Should've gone 7, imo. There's a sex joke in there somewhere...

Lovely! Another Hot 100 top ten, and CHR top 5 (I think #6/7 and #3/4, respectively).

This might sound weird, but i wish dressin up was on the original release, and humming bird heartbeat was on the re release. That way HH would be fresh and could have hype, because id prefer that as the 8th single, but from a sales point it wouldnt make sense to release now.

Boring song but will definitely reach top 10 on pop. Why would radio not play her after 8 consecutive top 3 hits? lol

Why didn't radio play "Judas" if you go by that logic?

Why didn't radio play "Judas" if you go by that logic? Well, "Judas" is more polarising than "Wide Awake". The video for "Judas" also didn't help its cause; although I really liked it. I'm guessing this will be another top 10 hit on both POP & the Hot 100. I'm sure her label will ensure it with a remix or price reduction if it starts struggling on itunes.

Eh, Judas was already sinking by the time the video came out; so I wouldn't attribute any of its failures to the video. (In fact I'd say it's video has helped keep the song from being completely forgotten by the masses due to its success.)
I'm interested in what Katy's going to do with this video.
