I'm checking for his album idk why though... I feel like he is the most legit AI winner since David Cook. I was not here for the other winners who faded away. I would say Scotty has proven to be pretty legit and hasn't faded away

Where We Came From is alright I guess but I don't see it being a big radio hit like Home. Home is far from over so I hope they aren't set on WWCF being the next single.

I didn't watch his season on AI so my only exposure to him is Home and I liked it well enough to get all of the studio songs he did on AI and I was very, very impressed.
Listening to the new CD now and it's uncanny how much he sounds just like Dave Matthews.

I love this album. I think it's the best of all the Idol alums debuts. It's cohesive, the song writing is great, the songs themselves are great.. There's only two songs that I don't love and they aren't even bad. They just don't compare to the other songs. I enjoyed him on Idol but I'm just so impressed with what they've done with him and what they've allowed him to do. The songs that he wrote solo are among my favorites. But they are crazy if they don't release "Gone, Gone, Gone" after "Home" peaks. I know it's one of the few that he doesn't have a writing credit on but it's just so good.

This album is incredible. I really hope he can have a successful follow-up release after "Home".

Strangely excited to listen to this tomorrow. p.s. $5.99 on Amazon: kwn.me/phillips@aiden: Better than Kris Allen's? I believe you were a fan of his debut (as was I).

Not bad at all. Even if it sounds a lot like Mumford & Sons and Dave Matthews Band. But those are two great acts, so I don't mind!

The album sounds amazing! One of the best Idol winner debuts in my opinion. I love that its real and authentic to his style....I was kinda scared they were going to make him do something poppier that he wouldn't have wanted to do, but I'm glad they let him do his thing.

This is great; very cohesive sound! Definitely very inspired by DMB and Mumford, but as swehmatt0 said, that's no insult.

Listened to this in full today. This is one of the best Albums of the year, in my opinion. It's so good. Standouts to me so far are : "Gone, Gone Gone", "Where We Came From", "So Easy" and of course, "Home".

Listening on Spotify, not a bad album. It's very Dave Matthews sounding.

I really think he needs to get over his Dave obsession if he is going to be a TRUE artist. That said, the album (I'm only a few songs in) is REALLY strong. Gone Gone Gone is perfect and needs to be the next single.

I wonder if (or more so WHEN) he will do something with DMB or Mumford & Sons? I remember he was talking on Twitter with the bass player for DMB and he said he would like to play with Phillip. Maybe Phillip can guest at a Mumford or DMB show or something? Or would that be too weird? ???

He sounds a lot like DM on here to me. Wow. The entire album pretty much doesn't just sound DMB inspired; it sounds like someone mimicking DMB. Everything from the songwriting, to guitar playing, to his vocal inflections. There are some strong songs here, but the DMB resemblance is distracting.

On AI I found the physical quirkiness very distracting and annoying, but his album seems to be holding up well on itunes. Will be interesting to see how his next single does...without the Olympic support factor being there.

I was watching his live performance on Letterman and he was even mimicking DB's gestures while performing live.

All I know is everywhere I looked, this album was sold out, assuming it actually dropped on the 19th, and they weren't just waiting to stock it.

I agree he sounds a lot like Dave Matthews, but I don't consider it a *bad* thing, or a mimic. I've seen a lot of sound alike pretenders before, and this guy just doesn't strike me that way. He sounds like Mumford and sons too, but he seems far more genuine than the others I've seen. Either that, or he's a pretty good actor.

I like Man on the moon, Home and Gone Gone Gone the most. I think GGG is the only song left that could have success on pop... It's true that he does sound like DMB/M&S a lot but I don't consider this a bad thing.

1. Home 2. Gone, Gone, Gone 3. Where We Came From
He's having the chance of a lifetime. The exposure 'Home' had is giving him such momentum that we haven't seen in an Idol winner since David Cook's debut, or even probably Jordin Sparks. GGG is a hit, but I doubt a third song could replicate that (and I like the album a lot). He should start working on his sophomore asap, so if something goes wrong he has something else to release for the next project, and not wait 2 or 3 years like David Cook, which was the mistake that really screwed that guy over.

Agreed 100% I also agree on releasing GGG and WWCF. This album gives me a lot of Ed Sheeran vibes, only upbeat and a bit folksier versus Sheeran's ballad-heavy album (which is an equally incredible album). P2 has a real shot at becoming that massive Idol winner the show needs to reaffirm its reputation of producing actual stars. Interscope better play this one right. This album could go Gold as early as the first quarter of 2013, which is awesome progression.

Happy to see all the love for WWCF. It's my favorite song on the album but I agree GGG should be the next single. Hoping WWCF is single#3.

Official Soundscan album sales put this at 169K sold for its 1st week -- #4 on Billboard chart.
Not bad at all.
It looks like Gone Gone Gone will be the 2nd single. He performed that on The Today Show yesterday (I think it was yesterday, haha). That is a smart choice, as it is similar in style to "Home" (which has now sold more than 2.5 million copies)
I wasn't a big fan of his on Idol...I thought everything he did sounded exactly the same. I do like "Home" a lot, though, and I think overall the album is a solid effort, although I do have a problem in that everything does start to sound too similar to me the farther I get into it.
As for him being the most legit Idol winner since David Cook? I disagree with that, as both Kris Allen and Scotty McCreery are very talented artists and certainly legit winners.

Not hearing any Ed Sheeran in PP AT ALL. I love Ed Sheeran's album, listen to it everyday, obsess, etc. Anyway, the album is VERY strong and yeah, GGG needs to be the second single immediately when Home is done.

OK; this is driving me nuts... In the bridge of "Get Up, Get Down," there's a "na na-na-na-na-na" chant that continues through the end of the song. What other song does that (with the same melody)? I know I've heard it in another song and I'm pretty sure it's even a bunch of "na" syllabus too, haha. ???
