Do you guys think they'll officially release this as a single? Her label confirmed to Billboard they are done releasing singles off "Prism", so not likely.

Do you guys think they'll officially release this as a single? If it had done very well and made it to the top 10 of iTunes after the performance, I think they would have pushed it as a single.

This is not single-worthy. Not everything that gets performed on tv has to be a single. It served as a nice little showcase of another side of the Katy Perry brand and it should stay that way.

Exactly, definitely not single material at all. At most, maybe like a radio release to the AC stations or something but at this point I think the PRISM era should just wrap itself up. Perfect end to it. Definitely looking forward to her next album, I do hope it's better than PRISM tho.

She played it too safe on Prism and I hope she brings FIRE to her next album. At least we got "Roar" and "Dark Horse" out of it.

I hope Katy releases her next lead single at the end of this year or maybe in September just like when Roar came out

I think she's gonna give us a summer release a la TD. I see first single in late April, album in late August.

What do you guys want from her next album? More safe pop music? An acoustic album? Something else?

I want a dance-pop album from her but I want it to lean more towards trap (Dark Horse) and house (Walking On Air) music. I want her to stay away from the bubblegum pop songs like Roar, Birthday, and This Is How We Do. I wouldn't mind a few acoustic ballads on it too.

There's no way she's releasing this summer. That's wayyyy too soon. Maybe by the end of the year a la PRISM.

An album like Dark Horse! Urban/Hip-Hop & mix with a lil bit of classic pop fun Katy.

I dont think it's out of the question for her to have a new single out by Summer. This didn't build up her profile with the Super Bowl & Grammys just for the hell of it. They need to rebuild hype after 2 mediocre performing singles.

I had hoped she did Legendary Lovers at the Superbowl and put it out as a single. Oh well, I guess we will have to wait for her new album hopefully by the end of the year. I did love her performance of By the Grace of God on the Grammys!

"Teenage Dream" has reached a milestone 200th week on the Billboard 200, becoming the 25th album to spend 200+ weeks on the chart since 1991 STORY

Dark Horse is now the 2nd most viewed Vevo video of all time (behind Baby), Roar is at #3!

I don't know why people expect an album this year when she just confirmed an october date for columbia for her prism tour. I thought it was clear that she was going to wrap up her tour this year and end with 250/300m+ and then go away and record an album that shows more maturity and more a/c friendly with the pop element still. I think she'll transition into more songs like choose your battles/double rainbow/spiritual etc. Not sure we'll get any more dark horses and roars as far as maturity is concerned. THey were hits but either teenage friendly and/or relying on cliches. I think she's ready to take it to the next level and she can afford to. I hope we either get an album at the end of 2016 (then again that might be a competitive time) or spring 2017. It would be great if she had a feature or a soundtrack single sometime in 2015 and 2016 to tide us over

As it turns out, I'll be in Tokyo on April 25th and 26th… does anyone know how I might be able to score a ticket to Katy's concert?

Nearly this exact post could have been written while she was making Prism. She wanted to take it darker, but she wasn't able to. She's been itching for her own Jagged Little Pill, but she's part of a machine now and I don't see her ever being able completely shift from the cotton candy songs that have made her what she is. While I appreciate her singer/songwriter side a lot, the record label doesn't seem to. If they did, we wouldn't have had Roar as single #1 and a lame PR message that she "let the light in" and replaced all the dark post divorce songs with Dr. Luke stuff.

I can't @ people wishing that she put out a My December type album. She's succeeded exactly where both Kelly and Pink stumbled (both former Luke clients).

I agree. A dark acoustic album from Katy is just asking for disaster. While I'm fully in favor of Katy changing up her sound, she should stick with albums focused on fun pop music. That's what she does best and its what people want from her.

Another Summer album would make a lot of sense, but I wouldn't expect anything until 2016. PRISM wasn't a commercial failure, but it didn't hold up. If she's smart-- and I think she (and her team) are-- then they'll likely take the time to regroup.
