Wow, this is such an amazing car song! I just wish it started climbing back in the spring, so we could have had all summer to blare it on the radio. Amazing tune though, one of my favorite out there right now.

Am I the only one that is bothered by the spelling "It'z" on the EP. I just don't get the point of it and it bothers me. Because poor literacy is kEwL! I like this song. Good melody and production. It does have a similar beat to Barefoot Blue Jean Night, but it doesn't have the drum loop or banjo, and there's much more guitar.

I really like this but I'm getting a feeling this is not going to be as big of a hit as it could have been had it been released on a major label earlier in the year. I know most of you guys say that it doesn't matter if winter is coming on, that a summer song will still get played, but I'm not sure unless it somehow takes a slow run up the chart and starts peaking late next spring.

^ This has climbed incredibly fast for a new act (#27 after only 7 weeks) and has had huge gains every week (over 1.5 million this week). I think this is going to be a big hit regardless.

I was thinking that at first but all of the sudden in my area (Nashville) I'm not hearing it as often as I did 2 weeks ago.

Why is this a summer song? Yes, it fits better during the summer, but it's not like Keith Urban's "Long Hot Summer" where the hook was all about the summer season.
I don't see this one having any issues going up the chart. It's absolutely lighting up iTunes, sitting at #6, behind only the 2 Taylor songs, Blown Away, Wanted, and Pontoon. It's really catchy but the hook about 'cruising around with the windows down' isn't entirely dependent on the season. They are touring with Jake Owen this fall and are also featured on his EP. I really don't see anything keeping this from #1.

Why is this a summer song? When this comes on the radio, all I want to do is blare the volume, then "roll the windows down and cruise". Unfortunately, that can become quite chilly here in the Northeast this time of year. Still, I agree that "Cruise" will still be a huge hit, likely a #1. I just wish it started climbing the charts a few months earlier... (Sirius XM has been playing it since May)

In the last few days some of the posts on The Highway's facebook page have been saying they are tired of hearing the song. I guess seeing that made me wonder if folks would tire of it through the winter and PD's would not spin it as much.

Sirius XM has been playing it in full rotation as a "Highway Find" for over 4 months now, so I can see why some people might be getting tired of it. The average person has just recently started hearing this for the first time, so it's completely different situation on local radio stations.

Well yes, I said I agree that it "fits better during the summer", but I don't think this song is dependent on that, while I would've argued differently for a song like "Long Hot Summer", where the hook was 'it's gonna be a long hot summer'...
There are always gonna be some people who tire of songs. Not everything is universally liked all the time over its entire chart run. And with the way "Cruise" is selling right now, it's clear that it's reaching legions of new fans and is nowhere near done climbing. It's their first ever single, and it's moved up about as quickly as Toby Keith's latest, and even quicker than Kip Moore's "Beer Money" and it's even on a better pace than Eric Church's "Creepin'" and of course the singles by Jerrod Niemann and Lady A.

And keep in mind that Brad Paisley got "Mud to the Tires" in #1 in February, even though that's arguably more of a summer song than this is.

I think I heard this on my way home from the gym today without knowing what it was beforehand. It's OK; I like it, but I don't love it. I find the production to be a little overwhelming, especially during the chorus. I would've initially predicted a "Storm Warning" type of chart run, but since it's obviously racing up the chart, it may just end up near the bottom rungs of the top 10 when all is said and done. Hopefully, there are better songs on their awkwardly spelled EP or forthcoming album.

I don't find this to be anything wonderful and am really sort of surprised by all the love for these guys. They're really nothing special from everything I've heard and seen. For me, when it comes to FLGA Line ... all I can do is shrug. I'm that indifferent.

After listening to previews of their EP, I must say that nothing stood out to me and I actually find their voices a little polarizing for my taste with the sharp twang and all. Maybe this group and/or this song will grow on me, but I won't guarantee it; then again, I can only like so much music at a time. I'll be happy if they break through, but that doesn't mean I'll root for them like The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Zac Brown Band, Gloriana, Love and Theft, and Little Big Town. Of course, it takes more than one song to make a final judgment, but I don't think it's looking too promising (I must be biased since I didn't hear a ballad from them yet, but who knows? )

The same will probably happen with this one for me. I also didn't find anything on their EP that I was just crazy about. For me though, these guys and Love & Theft are just interchangeable. I don't find anything interesting to make me buy a CD from either of these duo's.

I like them alright, much better than Love and Theft.
Honestly, I'm just ready to hear Jason Aldean's version of Black Tears...

I'd say it's acting like a future #1...so I'm gonna predict that ;) And, for the record, I don't exactly think this song is super amazing, but I like it quite a bit. It's just really catchy and definitely fits in with the type of music we've heard from guys like Jake Owen and Luke Bryan, and I think that's why it's doing well. Jake's helped them out too, and we've seen some other songs that got their start on "The Highway" get early big sales advantages, and it's been no different with this one. And now with Republic, they have a great promo team behind them.

Wow, this is selling like crazy, #18 on itunes all genre right now. And #4 Country, only behind the 2 Taylor singles and 'Wanted'. I agree with some of you that is for sure going at least top 5, maybe even #1.

It's always good, though, when my thoughts are actually backed-up by radio.

Huge 5 point jump from #17 to #12 on Billboard Airplay this week, with the 2nd most increased audience.
This song is simply on fire, and should continue blazing its way up to #1.

This is a major surprise. I really like the song, but I haven't seen a debut single climb this fast since Jesus, Take the Wheel. What is this song doing so right?

I was waiting for someone to bring up BBJN again. "Cruise" is catchy and all, but it is so doggone loud, it makes BBJN sound more stripped down and acoustic. After seeing this catch on so quickly, I expect to see it towards the top by the Holidays.

I don't like it. *shrugs* Wow, one of the few songs we differ on! ;) It was bound to happen sooner or later, right? ;) I can't get past their vocals to like the song. I can admit that it's catchy, and it's not quite an instant station-changer, but ... it's so LOUD and, really, nobody is going to go up to a girl and say "baby you a song, you make me wanna roll my windows down and CRUUUUUIIIIISE." I can suspend belief on ocassion. This is not one of those times. Haha. (Although, my husband did come up with a version for our puppy - "Kona you're a dog, you make me wanna roll the window down so you can cruuuuuise..." )

This isn't nearly as good as "Barefoot Blue Jean Night". I like this well enough, but I agree that they aren't the best vocally...and this song is pushing a bit too much into the rock music category for me to be fully on board.
Why is it a success though? Started off with solid exposure on satellite radio. Jake Owen has been hyping them up, and Jake's stock has been on the rise itself. Sugarland, Keith Urban, and others tweeted out in recent weeks that they were HUGE fans of this song. Once something like this gets started, it just doesn't stop. They got signed to one of the best labels in Nashville near the end of the summer, right when the hype was really taking off around this song in particular, and Republic launched the full-scale promotion to radio.

Judging by their ep it's gonna be interesting to see what they put out single wise next. Hopefully there's more radio friendly stuff on the album or they could be in a bit of a dilemma with country radio. This sing is ok but the others were atrocious loud and all sing about jacked up trucks lol
