We've actually known this for a couple weeks now but I guess it's "official." This bolded part however, made me feel queasy: EMI RECORDS NASHVILLE has added LITTLE LOUDER MUSIC songwriter HALEY GEORGIA to its roster. HALEY's debut single "Ridiculous" is currently playing on SIRIUSXM and will hit terrestrial radio this SUMMER. Yikes.

Yeah, we've known about Haley for a little while now. She's also been on the UMG website under EMI for a few weeks now as well.
I'm actually glad that they're being dumb enough to send "Ridiculous" to radio, because I'm 100% confident it will bomb/fail/flop (choose whichever word you like best!)

I prefer "bomb" at radio myself. ;) Edit: Also, the amount of dislikes for this song's audio video is astounding. There's currently been roughly 20,700 views and 186 likes to 111 dislikes. The very first comment was "I thought she was saying "you're a d**k" but no matter what, this is easily the worst song in existence of music."

The rumors back in March that Craig Wayne Boyd has been dropped from Dot Records looks to be true. Craig has a new single, "I'm Still Here" he just released to iTunes today and he will perform tonight on The Voice. It says his label for the new single is Long Haul Records which was his label for his album before The Voice.

It says his label for the new single is Long Haul Records which was his label for his album before The Voice. Just Maddie & Tae and Drake White are listed there. This is from Wikipedia (for what it's worth): Shortly after winning the show and signing with Universal Republic, Boyd signed with Dot Records. His debut album is to be released sometime in 2015. In March 2015 Boyd parted ways with Dot Records after being on the label for just a short time.

Kinda surprised Craig Wayne Boyd didn't even get an album out of Dot Records, or even a real single promoted to radio. I didn't think the guy was particularly marketable and would've probably flopped, but he won The Voice and it seems dumb to not even try with him. Strange.

Lauren Jenkins is VERY country.
Nick won American Idol yesterday haha and is Chris Daughtryish, but I could see him going country.

According to Scott Borchetta in a quote to Taste of Country, Nick has "one of those voices that could work in pop or country", so it does seem like he might try to steer him toward country radio, at least somewhat. But I do think they're prepared to tackle other formats as well. Borchetta told The Hollywood Reporter back in December that Big Machine is more than capable of handling pop radio (and presumably other non-country formats as well).

It looks like Sheryl Crow's deal with Warner Nashville was only for one album...either that or they parted ways. She is no longer listed under the artist section at WMN's website (she was when I checked last week, but she's not there anymore).

To piggyback on the BMLG talk, there was a Billboard article last month about Kelly Clarkson completing her record contract with her last album and what's next for her since she's a free agent. The speculation in it is that if she doesn't re-sign with RCA, multiple sources felt BMLG would be a frontrunner to get her because of their ability to work both pop and country. I knew they were getting more and more into the pop side, but I had never really thought about them possibly opening up a pop label. Hmm

Also, it looks like Brooke Eden has officially been assigned the Red Bow according to their website. Yep! I just edited that into the first post about an hour ago. :) To piggyback on the BMLG talk, there was a Billboard article last month about Kelly Clarkson completing her record contract with her last album and what's next for her since she's a free agent. Hmm That'd be...interesting, especially considering that Scott Borchetta and Kelly Clarkson had a bit of a feud a couple of years ago. Borchetta had sort of dissed American Idol, and Kelly responded by famously calling him "Captain Obvious". www.ew.com/article/2010/02/04/taylor-swift-kelly-clarkson-grammys-defenseI don't think Borchetta ever disliked Idol or Kelly Clarkson (or else it would have been pretty hypocritical of him to join AI this year); he was merely defending a not-so-good Taylor Swift performance when he said "This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance." To be fair to Borchetta, I don't think he ever mentioned Kelly (or Carrie, or any other Idol participant) by name. He was basically trying to say that all artists have bad live performances from time to time and that they shouldn't be judged so harshly on a week-to-week basis because it's not Idol. He definitely chose his words poorly, though.

I've also added Laura Marano and new American Idol winner Nick Fradiani to the BMLG roster just now.

I really, really liked her country debut, so I would've loved to see her continue to release music in this genre. Granted I think she's at a stage in her career where hits are going to be rare, but I thought country seemed like a good direction for her to go and probably her best shot at getting any decent airplay.

I totally thought that Sheryl's album was solid. To me it felt like she truly fit in the country industry. She's always swayed that way for me a little more. Kind of surprised, because when she opened for Rascal Flatts last summer, she said she feels comfortable in country music and wants to stick around.

I totally did not see that your post, .indulgecountry. Guess I should have scrolled to the bottom, lol. I basically said the same exact thing you did. I would have to agree that airplay for anyone her age or close to her age is going to be hard...especially in country because of the off standards of radio, but truly in any genre overall.

He definitely chose his words poorly, though. Water under the bridge at this point. In one of his after show interviews the week Kelly was on Idol this year, he was asked about that "feud." He said that Kelly had come up to him at the CMT awards that year and they cleared everything up. There were no hard feelings either way and he had actually gotten a kick out of her Captain Obvious comment. Anyway, I kind of like this idea. As for Sheryl, that's unfortunate. Country seems like the perfect fit for her. Odds that she gets picked up by a smaller label where the expectations of a big hit single/album wouldn't be so high?

Black River Entertainment signs the Raging Idiots: All AccessBLACK RIVER ENTERTAINMENT (BRE) has signed the RAGING IDIOTS, which includes PRODUCER EDDIE and BOBBY BONES, both of PREMIERE's syndicated "THE BOBBY BONES SHOW." The duo has performed nearly 40 charity shows and raised more than $800,000 benefitting local animal charities. “BOBBY BONES and PRODUCER EDDIE are unique comedic individuals,” said BRE CEO GORDON KERR. “The light-hearted songs and comedy bits by the RAGING IDIOTS not only entertain people but, through the charity aspects of their shows, actually help make a difference in people’s lives. We look forward to sharing some laughs and changing some lives together.”

Which ones are the band I recognize Bobby but who's in the group. Well idk about the people in the picture, but since the band is called "Raging Idiots", I'm pretty sure you'd find Bobby Bones, Gary Overton, Keith Hill and the FGL boys all in there....

Apparently Dallas Smith signed with Blaster Records and there was no announcement? I've done a Google search and it doesn't come up with anything, but this picture/caption combo was in yesterday's (June 1) Country Aircheck Today email: » Act Of Dallas: Blaster's Dallas Smith (c) with (l-r) the label's Bob Reeves, KFRG/Riverside's Lee Douglas and Scott Ward and Blaster's Dave Collins. Bob Reeves and Dave Collins do indeed work for Blaster, so it would seem that they're taking Dallas on a radio tour. This is the first time I've seen Dallas' name associated with Blaster, and I'm just kind of surprised that there wasn't any sort of announcement. Maybe one is still forthcoming..?
Also Blaster-related, Aaron Lewis is no longer with the label. I just checked their website and they finally removed Hank Jr's picture (he signed with Nash Icon a little while back), and Aaron is no longer listed under their artists page. It's just Jack Ingram, Montgomery Gentry, Christian Lopez Band, Allison Veltz, Jared Ashley, and Chuck Wicks. Presumably they'll be adding Dallas Smith soon.

Aaron only had a one album deal with them for distribution purposes (same with Hank Jr, actually). It would make sense for Dallas to be a part of Blaster now too, if only as part of a deal to promote the future singles from his project.

And now, for perhaps some more Blaster-related news, it appears that James Otto may have signed with them? I was just checking the R&R Going For Adds page, and they have James' "Somewhere Tonight" going for adds on July 13, with the label listed as "Blaster/Otto Pilot" (Otto Pilot is James' own label). I can't find any other confirmation, though, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did indeed sign with Blaster.
