Rod is one to watch. He could snatch that #1 from Alicia if X-Factor doesn't help her tonight.

Michael Bublé "Christmas" (Reprise) 70-75k
The rerelease of this is going to push it very close to, if not over, the 3 million mark!
Hopefully Alicia can get to #1 without too much hastle.

The majority of you are pushing, reaching, and overreacting. The dramatics are boring.

Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart Aiming for No. 1 on Next Week's Billboard 200 Albums Chart November 29, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield ( keith_caulfield), Los Angeles Alicia Keys' new album, "Girl On Fire," is set to earn the highest debut next week on the Billboard 200 chart -- and with a likely No. 1 bow. But Rod Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby" might spoil her party with a post-Thanksgiving sales surge. Industry sources suggest Keys' set, which hit retailers on Nov. 27, might sell between 145,000 and 170,000 by the end of the tracking week on Dec. 2. It was the only major new release this past week that will sell a number that large. Standing in Keys' way is Stewart's first holiday set, which sold 117,000 last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. As we've seen in the past, Christmas album sales grow larger in the weeks following Thanksgiving, and Stewart's release should be no exception. In 2011, in the week after Thanksgiving, Michael Buble's then-new "Christmas" album spent its second week at No. 1, selling 293,000 (up 29%). Though Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby" isn't performing as strongly as Buble's set, don't rule anything out. If Keys does bow atop the Billboard 200, it will mark her fifth No. 1. Her first four releases (three studio sets and a live album) all bowed in the penthouse between 2001 and 2007. Her last album, 2009's "The Element of Freedom," launched at No. 2 with 417,000. It was released Dec. 15 of that year, and was stuck in the runner-up slot behind Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream," which was then in its fourth week at No. 1 (with 661,000). Rod has been everywhere this week promoting his new book and Xmas album. I've seen him on Rockafeller Xmas special, Katie Couric, The Today Show, I think he's on something today and I believe a late night talk show. Who knows maybe he will upset her.

How come no one is talking about Rihanna's 2nd week drop?? Isn't it a little steep? No. The lower end of the estimate (70k) would put her at a 70% drop, which would be average (particularly considering it was released the week of "Black Friday").

^Thanks. Normal second week drops usually fall between 68-72%.

475k is not terrible for Bruce in this sales climate but the album is so good, it should be going Platinum like Magic did.

The single is Girl On Fire is #5 on Itune Top 100. I'm tired of some of discrediting this lady. Also hits updated to Alicia Keys predictions are 275k from RCA. Alicia is a great artists. Alicia Keys has made her brand. R&B sales are at the all time low, but Alicia has a great solid fan base.

I'm actually rooting for Rod Stewart! I'm a huge fan, not so much of the Xmas music but I've grown up listening to his music throughout the 80's and love his earlier music too. Go Rod!

Fans need to accept this. I cannot believe the meltdown over Alicia's numbers.

Other than that poster you just responded to and maybe one other person, I really don't think anyone is being overly dramatic or having a meltdown. It's more than reasonable to be disappointed, especially because she had already taken a hit during her last era. Her fans took that into account and figured there would be a slide, but that slide was still steeper than many predicted. So yeah, we're going to be bummed and we're going to try to parse what part of that fall is on Alicia and what part is on the recent decline in overall r&b sales. But all the Alicia fans here accepted the numbers for what they were right away. Again, except for the one above. If it was one of Pulse's big pop 'divas' underperforming people would be having ten times the fits, this thread would be three times as long, and no one would blink an eye over it, in fact everyone would be bathing in the chaos like Ke$ha in dirty glitter. Now it's Alicia and suddenly we're being too much? Pshhh.

The second page starts with "Pulse, always so over dramatic."
