Luke, speaking of crashing, this song is crashing onto the iTunes chart and quick, already deep in the top 40 for all genre and almost already top ten for Country!!!

This sounded surprisingly good to me on the ACMs. I liked what I was hearing and I enjoyed that it was a ballad and it did remind me of "Do I" a bit (as someone mentioned in this thread previously). Is there anywhere to listen to the studio recording of this song in full yet?

^ The audio in that video isn't working for me. The video just plays normally, but without sound. Does it work for you (or anyone else)? ???

I thought this song/performance was forgettable, at best.

I was hoping the studio recording of this would have a more enticing production to it like on "Do I" and "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye," but it felt a lot more generic and uninteresting to me than I was expecting it too. It also has a few bum lyrics that knock it down a few pegs on the quality ladder as well. Overall, I like his vocals a lot, but it definitely seems like his music doesn't quite live up to that for me most of the time. But hey, at least this is very easily better than his last lead single!

But hey, at least this is very easily better than his last lead single! Not sure I could have said it better myself, particularly the bolded part. :) I have always LOVED Luke's voice, but yeah, his material (starting with the mess that is Country Girl) has seemed sort of lackluster. I saw a tweet last night that basically said they were happy for Luke for his big win, but wished his material weren't dumbed down for the college girl crowd, and I think that about nailed it. I absolutely love his first two albums, and, like I said, I've always loved his voice - I think he has one of the best voices in the genre right now. And, aside from Country Girl, I did come to enjoy Drunk On You, and particularly liked I Don't Want this Night to End and Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (though both had a number of lyrical moments that left much to be desired). But he's definitely playing to a crowd that I'm just not a part of anymore, so there's been a disconnect in the past few years as a result. I feel like Luke's songs are pleasant enough, but I don't feel like I'm a part of the audience anymore... I've grown, but he hasn't, if that makes sense. Crash My Party, thankfully, is not quite the cliche-ridden party anthem that I was expecting, and for that I am pleased. It's nice to listen to and I don't anticipate that it will be a station changer or anything like that. But I do wish his songs had a bit more meat to them.

It definitely does feel like Luke Bryan likes to age himself down when it comes to his material and his image (though I can't argue there's anything wrong with looking young... it's just flaunting it in the way that he does that comes off as a bit over the top). I mean, this guy definitely knows his audience and is doing a good job with catering to that, but he is a bit too old to be wasting his talents on an album entirely full of spring break anthems, despite the sales success it has brought him.

.indulgecountry and carriekins perfectly summed up my feelings about this song. Very nicely put. Great job, y'all!
I don't find this song terrible at all, but it just seems that it needs more meat to it. I want a little more depth from Luke. We had enough 'lax, summertime tunes from his last album. This just seems pretty dull. I guess it could grow on me, but I'm really hoping Luke's new album isn't full of songs just like this one. Of course, I have no reason to think it would be yet. It makes sense to release a song like this as a lead single which will peak sometime this summer, but it would be great if Luke had some deeper releases in store for us after this one. I'm confident he will deliver, though.
Anyway, congrats to Luke on winning Entertainer of the Year last night! I know a lot of people on here were probably rooting for Miranda, but I honestly was hoping Luke would win. (I'm happy for Miranda for winning Female Vocalist, though. She's contributed a lot to country music over the past year, and I'm glad she's finally getting recognition for her talent!)

I don't mind this. Nothing special really, but it's also not awful, like his last lead single was. I like Luke, but he tends to play it safe a bit too much, and this is no exception. I don't see any reason why it won't be a big #1 hit, though.

I was curious why Luke/Capitol Nashville chose a piano ballad to be the first single, and then I realize maybe they have long-term plans to crossover to the mainstream? I get a Lady Antebellum "JAK" vibe that makes this song very easy to crossover to AC/HotAC and Southern CHR stations.
Having now won the grand prize Entertainer Of The Year, perhaps the only thing left for Team Luke to conquer is mainstream crossover success?

^Why does everybody have to cross-over? Just curious. Maybe you're right--maybe that is in Luke's and his label's plans. But why does it have to be a goal, or something to conquer, for a country artist? I'm not opposed to cross-over success, but lately it seems like so many people want everyone to cross-over..

Well latley as in the last 6 months there's been a new reason introduced that makes having a cross over hit a good idea...

^The labels have ignored the new chart, though. It hasn't really changed anything. A cross-over hit can still sell a lot more than one that doesn't cross-over. They didn't need this new chart to tell them that.

I love Luke but this song just lacks that melody that hooks me.

So I've only listened to this all of one time and I have certainly been known to do a 180 on a song after I've heard it on the radio for awhile, but my first impression is that this is going to be a so-so song for me. I'm still yearning for the Luke of days gone by when his songs were full of country leaning fiddle breaks. *sigh* I think I just need to get over it and move on because he seems to be full steam ahead to make this type of song. This song could be played on my local adult contemporary station and not have to be changed a bit. *sigh* At least this song is tolerable for me and doesn't have any instant station changing lyrics like "shake for the catfish swimming down deep in the creek" or "girl you make my speakers go boom boom".

^I think that's the general consensus around here. This song is just so...boring. It sounds just like the three #1 hits he had off of his last album, only this one lacks pizzazz. Maybe it's just too safe. Actually, I wonder if this will start to struggle in the top ten if callout scores and downloads end up not as high as expected. I know that's a ludicrous thing to say seeing that the song is #2 on iTunes right now, but perhaps there is just a ton of hype after Luke winning ACM Entertainer of the Year and singing this song at the show, so everyone wants to download it out of excitement, and then the hype will eventually wear off. It's a stretch, I know, but I think it could be possible that the thrill of this song could wear off after a month or so, if the song isn't already at #1 by then. Why would something so mediocre be a huge digital hit? It's not like a song with bad lyrics but a catchy tune that would entice a lot of downloads. This just feels boring.

Why would something so mediocre be a huge digital hit? Sure Be Cool If You Did would beg to differ. ;) Seriously, I don't expect this to underperform at all. Yes, it's lacking and rather generic sonically/lyrically, but Luke is at a place in his career right now where I can't see this missing #1. He just won Entertainer of the Year at the ACMs and his last album produced three 2x Platinum hits, which, for a strictly country star, is nothing short of incredible. This also isn't the kind of polarizing tune that I can see having overwhelmingly bad callout scores either. They may not be great, but idk if this song is the kind to send people into a fit of rage. For me, songs like "1994" do a much better job of that.

Meh. Same exact tempo as "Drunk On You" and nothing from the song really stands out. I want a party anthem like "All My Friends Say".

For the record, I've seen a couple tweets from people who've already heard what's been cut for Luke's album and they all say it's going to be incredible. However, I'm not sure how much I want to believe them because they're all people from the party country genre and their opinion of incredible may be different than mine.

I must be missing something- I do not understand the appeal of Mr. Bryan. I did see him open for Sugarland several years ago and he was ok. But most of his songs really sound alike and the sleaziness of Drunk on you, yuck. The first time I heard "Do I" I thought I could finally get behind him. But this-yawn. So lazy in lyrics and tune. But after his win for EOY, this will shoot right up, I'm sure. Perhaps I am just musically challenged to not appreciate his genius.

I'm curious to see which song reaches the top first: the Clear Channel-enhanced "I Want Crazy" or this. My money is on this.
