Lorde Covers New Zealand's 'Metro' MagazineLorde graces the October 2013 cover of New Zealandβs Metro magazine. The 16-year-old singer opened up about her beliefs on feminism. βI think women who say, βNo, Iβm not a feminist β I love men,β I think that is justβ¦ You donβt know what it means. You think it means that, βI donβt shave under my arms, I burn my bras. Fβ men!β How could you be so uneducated, and so unwilling to learn about something which is so important to you?β she says. Lorde continued about the influence she has on other young women: βTaylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I donβt think itβs breeding anything good in young girls. βIβm never going to be like Taylor Swift, why canβt I be as pretty as Lorde?β Thatβs fββ bullshit.βwww.justjaredjr.com/2013/09/28/lorde-covers-new-zealands-metro-magazine/#ixzz2gIchoyFi

Why does Lorde look like a mess in her photos. She's like a pretty girl in horrible clothes and my favorites are 400 Lux which should've been the second single and A World Alone should be next. Team makes no sense given these two songs.

She looks like a mess in photos because she is one. Her face is not a good look. She looks like a 40 year old who has a meth dependency.

Pure Heroine seems to hint at the truth...but the truth is, Lorde is a pop invention as much as LDR and is not nearly as honest about her intentions.

"Royals" was removed from The Love Club EP on US iTunes and "Swingin' Party" took its spot as the second track.
I like the album. Aside from the singles, no songs stood out to me individually, but they worked well together as an album. They definitely made the right single choices imo.

After my first run through, I love this album. "Ribs," "Buzzcut Season," and "White Teeth Teens" are instant standouts for me.

Her mouth is as big as Zealia's and it's just...a bit off-putting. I get it. You and your friends grew up poor. You had to collect copper for cab rides. You don't like EDM. You are a feminist. You don't like material things. Whatever. The album is hot but she has a lot of growing up to do. Fortunately for her, she is still young , so I understand her misguided ramblings and why she is acting like a petulant child. It sets her apart and you need a buzz in this day and age. Good music is simply not good enough anymore. Look at her "antithesis" Lana. She, too, had to create an identity.

Here's the thing about Zealia though...she is irrelevant. Lorde is relevant. Therefore, a scalping cannot really occur. Lorde can just reply "Who are you?" and call it a wrap.

She's young, and I think she intentionally play up this kind of youthful rebellious image too. when you think about it, it's not really that different from all those rock'n'rollers back then. of course, now rock is not about youth culture anymore, now that role is played by mostly outrageous pop stars.

This album is SO BORING. Zzzzzzzzz The production is also so artificial and cheap sounding?? I don't know how to explain it, but it has that cheap clicks and shallow beats. The songs have no melodies AT ALL. I feel like I'm listening to same song OVER AND OVER again with different beats in the back ground. It's weird how the album drags on so much but it only has 10 songs. I feel like I'm listening to 20 songs. Anyway, the singles are great. They did a great job at picking the singles coz the album tracks are not nearly as good as the singles.

lmao, that Azealia shade came out of nowhere. I think that is the first time I really felt that she was purposely trying to insult someone instead of just insulting what (she thinks) they represent. And it's so unnecessary, to boot. She has nothing to gain from going at someone so low on the totem pole. And Azealia won't get any satisfaction out of dragging her in kind, since she's too low on the totem pole for that many people to know or care about her response. Pure Heroine seems to hint at the truth...but the truth is, Lorde is a pop invention as much as LDR and is not nearly as honest about her intentions. I don't think Lorde herself is being purposely disingenuous, but I also think she comes off as quite unaware of how her image is being manipulated in much the same way that most pop stars are. That, not so much her specific comments, is where her naivete truly shows to me. At least LDR was in on the joke. No comment on whether I think she's on drugs, but I find her face pretty striking. She's no ogre.

So...this is a really good album. 400 Lux is my favorite song on the album. White Teeth Teens and A World Alone are pretty bomb too. Girl is naive as hell and apparently, comes from a wealthy background, so I'm starting to think this attitude of hers is as put on as Lana. I agree with Cynthia that she is being manipulated by the media into giving these pithy soundbytes but coming for Taylor and Lana is not doing her any favors. Keep writing good songs and singing pretty, girl.

I didn't either, and apparently they can't. They actually just re-released it with "Swingin' Party" as Track 2, because September 30 is listed as its release date now.

She has taken over iTunes Canada, and now ranks ahead of Justin. I like both albums, but I would really love to see her debut above him. I went and got the album today, having never heard an entire track besides "Royals." I truly enjoy every song and cannot choose any favourites although, naturally, the singles stand out. I just wish the artwork was more interesting.

I noticed that today as well. I wanted to play the EP for my friend who loves music but isn't really into pop and hadn't heard Royals yet. I was super disappointed, it flowed so well with the EP. ugh.

Aren't those Azealia tweets over a month old? they only resurfaced because Azealia was praising Lorde on twitter a couple days ago.
Anyway, I've been LOVING this album. The best debut this year. It'll be great watching Lorde and Kendrick fighting it out for Best New Artist at the Grammys.
