If this song is off itunes will it hurt its chances at staying at number one next week or is its lead so big that it doesnt matter?

The album wasn't available for purchase either, during the glitch. It looks like things may be back to normal now?

I don't get the outrage over the success of the song. It's way better than most big hits of the last 15 years It's called having an opinion. yes, and everyone has one, but complaining about this came out of the blue is ridiculous, a lot of big hits came out of nowhere, in fact the top 3 songs of last year (Somebody that i used to know, Call me maybe and We are young) were first singles (at least in the USA) from unknown artist, and all the three were very very big. At least Robin Thicke had a previous hit (yes, a medium one, but he wasn't unknown). The song is catchy, it has a retro vibe (wich seems to be very popular among top 10 hit right now), and it obviously appeal to a wide range of people. The fact the song is working in places where this type of music is not popular, speaks out loud about the appeal of the song. Of course not everybody is going to like it, but frankly, i don't find that surprising its success By the way, the song is back at 1 on itunes

1. ROBIN THICKE - Blurred Lines f/Pharrell & T.I: 262.890 (+ 2.449)
Breaking records on a daily basis. Will it ever stop?
I have been looking at the radio charts since the late 90s and I have never seen a song smashing on so many formats. The fact that very soon it is going to be at no1 on 5 (FIVE) different formats at the same time and top15 on one more (AC) is unbelievable. Let's not forget it is smashing on Spanish Contemporary too.
We Belong Together topped Pop, Rhythmic, Urban and Urban AC at the same time but it did not do much on HOT AC.

Does that break the spin record? Better question, does it break the SPS record? Edit: it needs 16593 I think it'll break it midweek but fall below by Sunday, like LFN. What's the unofficial SPS peak? Or you know it could just keep on smashing and obliterate the record on Sunday...

Adult album alternative (also triple-A, AAA, or adult alternative) is a radio format. A spinoff from the album-oriented rock format, its roots trace to the 1960s and 1970s from the earlier freeform and progressive formats. The format has a broader, more diverse playlist than most other formats and tends to appeal more to adults than to teenagers. Musical selection tends to be on the fringe of mainstream pop and rock as well as many other music genres such as indie rock, pop rock, alternative rock, alternative country, jazz, folk, world music and blues. Triple-A songs sometimes do manage to chart on the Adult Top 40, modern rock, or an adult contemporary chart, since they may first break out on AAA.

Green Day hit #1 at SIX different formats @ Mediabase in 2005 with 'Wake Me Up With September Ends'; can Mr. Thicke match that feat?

5...? Pop, Rhythmic, Urban... the 3 AC's (AC, Hot AC, Urban AC)
Unless you're counting overall airplay and the Hot 100 as the other 'formats', 'cause if we're talking individual radio formats it's only topped 3.

We don't usually count Canada together with the USA.

I'd err on the side of caution and say 4. Hot AC will happen in a couple of days so that'll be no trouble. I wouldn't count on AC, and Urban AC looks a bit dicey... the last couple of updates on that format haven't been promising, and if that develops into a trend then it could well peak at #2 there.

Green Day hit #1 at SIX different formats @ Mediabase in 2005 with 'Wake Me Up With September Ends'; can Mr. Thicke match that feat? "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" did that, not "Wake Me Up...". Presuming Robin is able to finish the job at Hot AC and Urban AC, "Blurred Lines" would need to hit #1 on AC (or I suppose Spanish Contemporary) to match Green Day. I don't see the song hitting #1 on either of those.

Yet somehow Green Day missed the Hot 100 #1. Oh, the 2000's.

^Remember that BDS is a building chart, so each day starts at zero- so, technically, it wouldn't have topped WBT's total until the full seven days of info is in.
