I'm kinda shocked that MM will open bigger than TMH. Obviously there still huge but I thought their popularity was waning a bit.

Didn't they open up outside of Black Friday week last year? I think timing is on their side this year. There's the Black Friday boost, AMA performance hours before the album goes on sale, plus whatever other promotion they are doing the week of. And if anyone else has been paying attention to the iTunes album chart, it's ranked in the top 20 (many days in the top 10) for like the past 3-4 weeks.

Garth Brooks is apparently releasing a new box set this Thanksgiving, so he could debut at #1 and hold 1D back at #2.

I doubt that. Box sets are quite costly and Billboard only counts 1 unit as 1, whereas the RIAA counts it as however many discs there are. So he could go Gold but only sell just over 100,000 units.

I.B. Bad Previews 2013's Top Five Finale (11/22a)The only remaining 2013 release with the potential to move the needle in a disappointingly light late-2013 releases schedule are the third album from Columbiaâs One Direction, hitting on Monday of Thanksgiving week (11/25), with estimates currently in the 500k range, and RCAâs Britney Spears, though her very light promo schedule, with little or no TV around the release, could put the album on the low end of the 150-200k forecast.

I won't be surprised if Britney goes below 150k. There's literally nothing pushing this other than her name. WB is dead, Perfume isn't doing anything, no promo planned, no more comeback hype. 1D will prob block her from #1, and she may even be #3 behind them and Eminem.

Yeah, I just feel no excitement for the Britney album. ARTPOP may have opened low and defied expectations in a bad way but I think Britney will steal her lack of thunder...

The thing Britney does have going for is that she's releasing the week after Black Friday where the majority of albums will have a massive decline from the previous week. It really depends on 1D's drop if she has any shot at #1.

I'm pretty sure Britney will be #2. If 1D debuts with 500k the week before, their second week will likely be in the 150-200k range, too, and I'm guessing that they'll edge out Britney for the #1 position. It'll be close, that's for sure.

Honestly if Wrapped in Red and/or Duck Dynasty's Xmas albums really blow up, she could debut outside the top 5.

^Clarkson's holiday special probably would boost the album more than anything else, but that doesn't air until the week after. Will The Robertsons be performing anywhere?

Will the special have performances? If not, no doubt the special will make mention of the album, or it will be advertised during.

So, Garth Brooks' box set- Blame It All On My Roots- actually is four new studio albums, but all covers of songs that shaped him as an artist. And it's out Thursday, only available at Wal-mart, Sam's Club and walmart.com. His stance on iTunes hasn't changed. I wonder how much it can sell in four days.

I honestly never thought I'd see the day that a new Britney Spears album would sell less than 200k in its first week, especially in Q4. And it isn't going to have legs and continue selling in the long run, either, considering it has no hit singles and she's refusing to (or, because of Vegas, not permitted to) do any promotion.

^Did you think she's still be pulling numbers like she did in say, 15-20 years from now? All acts eventually drop below a certain range. The album could end up topping 200K, though.

www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgiWeâve already told you about EMI Nashvilleâs blockbusterDuck the Halls from Duck Dynastyâs Robertsons (see p. 9), which is shaping up as the seasonâs biggest holiday (by which we mean Christmas) release and will be further boosted by the record-breaking A&E reality showâs Xmas episode. Now letâs take a (roughly chronological) look at some other yuletide offerings in various media. ABC will air Lady Gaga & The Muppetsâ Holiday Spectacular on Thanksgiving night; the 90-minute special reunites the Interscope star with Kermit, her date to the 2009 VMAs, and will feature guests Elton John, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and RuPaul. Songs from this weekâs #1 album, ARTPOP, may or may not feature chickens in Santa hats.Yearning for something a tad more traditional with your eggnog? ABCâs also got the CMA Country Christmas, hosted by Jennifer Nettles, on 12/2. Scheduled performers include Luke Bryan, The Robertsons, Lady Antebellum,Kellie Pickler, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crowand Trace Adkins, among others.Carrie Underwood steps into Julie Andrewsâ shoes forNBCâs The Sound of Music special, which airs on 12/5âtwo days after the Sony Masterworks soundtrack hits retail. RCAâs Kelly Clarkson, whose Wrapped in Red bowed at #3 with 70k and remains a brisk seller, will host the NBC special Kelly Clarksonâs (Cautionary) Christmas Tale on 12/11 at 10pm EST. The Vegas-filmed show is based onA Christmas Carol; reports that Joe Riccitelli will appear as Tiny Tim couldnât be confirmed at presstime. Clarksonâs Wrapped in Red Radio Special, meanwhile, offers 54 minutes of comfort and joy, including single "Underneath the Tree"; 120 stations are reportedly on board. 12/18 brings Michael BublĂ©: Home for the Holidays. The NBC soiree finds the versatile crooner stuffing stockings and warbling wassails with Rod Stewart, Blake Shelton,Carly Rae Jepsen and Elmo; a virtual duet with Bing Crosby on "White Christmas" is also promised. BublĂ©âs 2011 holiday set likely will reignite and once again be a top Q4 performer.Itâs impossible to list every key holiday release hereâso please stop yellingâbut hereâs a sampling. Mary J. Blige gifted us with A Mary Christmas (Verve) on 10/15, which is also when the RCA ST for newly released hit film The Best Man Holiday streeted; Kool & the Gangstarted their celebration on 11/5 with Kool for the Holidays (ATO). Epicâs Tamar Braxton upped the mistletoe ante last week with Winter Loversland; Geffenâs Il Voloserved up Buon Natale: The Christmas Album this week;Susan Boyle uncorks her Home for Christmas(SYCO/Columbia) on 11/25; and RCAâs Leona Lewisdrops Christmas, With Love on 12/3. RED has already released sets from Gretchen Wilson(10/8), Mannheim Steamroller (10/15), Trace Adkins (10/29), the Punk Goes Christmas crew and Duck Dynastyneighbor Mountain Man (both 11/11), among others.Concordâs got Holidays Rule (which dropped 10/30), featuring Paul McCartney, The Civil Wars, Fun., The Shinsand an array of rootsy indies.Oh, and Bad Religion have a Christmas record streeting now, which may be a sign of the End Times.ă
