Is this being released to radio or just her facebook? Well, she does call it her "brand new single," so it sounds like it'll be getting the full single treatment. Who knows, though.

lol At this point as good as it may be this entire 'era' has been so clunky (unlike anything I can remember from another singer) it's almost like she's saying this is (yet again) her brand new 'first single' lol when there's already been 2 official first singles regardless of what she or anyone says. The situation is almost like a parody at this point to anyone who follows her career. It's just the first one def. flopped while #B did not. It wasn't a smash but it charted and became a solid top 15 hit and stayed in the top 20 for many weeks= a 'hit'- even if Mimi wasn't satisfied that it didnt chart higher. The song itself was universally praised for the most part. It was def. a solid enough lead single and she should've just released the album in July as orig. planned, most likely beaten Selena and debuted at #1, had the buzz from that then released the Art Of Letting Go (which was already done at that point). Again, what she and her team did w/ #B (endless unnecessary remixes and videos (most which were pretty bad), ended up just spinning peoples heads. If they would've just let the original song be, released the album then followed up w/ Art Of Letting Go the air wouldnt be out of the balloon which it basically is now. Dunno if it was Mimi herself or her team (prob. a combo of both) but by far this has been her worst managed era :/ Don't see why radio would jump all over yet another 'brand new/ first new single' from her. There's the age factor which doesn't help but even more importantly (refer to everything I said above). She's def. got a major challenge on her hands here.

Don't see why radio would jump all over yet another 'brand new/ first new single' from her. How are you, and others, getting "lead single" from "brand new single?" They are not interchangeable. This is, by definition, her brand new single. The public has not heard the single and it is, therefore, brand new. They have made many foolish decisions this year, but they are not - seemingly - going to attempt to push this as yet another lead single. That was easy to do with "#Beautiful" because "Triumphant" and its performance were completely forgettable. However, "#Beautiful" and its performance were much more respectable, and I don't see them trying to pretend it never existed. Why are you trying to make it seem like they are?

Triumphant probably won't even be on the album and it came out OVER a year ago with no album in sight. It can be classified as a stand alone single. This is the new single and 2nd single of her album and recent history indicates that the 2nd single has been killing her eras.

You just focused on one point/opinion I was making which was incorrectly interpreted. I never said she IS saying this is her first new single lol. If you re-read the quote you quoted me on I simply said it's *almost like* it's being hyped up as a first/brand new single. There's a difference between saying she said/confirmed vs. "almost like" lol. It was just my opinion meant in a totally general way. I get it though- if one is a major fan of whoever, they're going to be way more sensitive to any kind of opinion, wording and things can be taken out of context. I've given the same kind of feedback on endless other singers here (re: new singles, videos etc..) which weren't exactly positive. Again, just my opinion on a song I possibly didn't care for but nothing hateful or personal against the artist, their fans etc.. Yet, for some reason when it comes to Mariah specifically I've just seen people react in a verry super sensitive way to others on here. Dunno why that is.

Not saying at all she should sell out and do something we all know she really doesnt wanna do (work with Dr Luke, Max Martin etc lol). I don't think this will ever happen but it prob. would be a great career move to just throw everyone for loop they never expected (ditch the early/mid 2000s sounding mid tempo r&b/hip hop comfort zone, majorly switch up producers and come out with a hot, soulful retro sounding, upbeat infectious jam). Obviously radio is once again embracing 60s/70s soul/funk/disco sounding songs. If she did something like that (no pre hype, big announcements etc...) and just have it drop organically I think she'd have a shot scoring a major hit.

So if I didn't have a great feeling about this song I get a message from this amazing, smart and always right former poster (name withheld for legal reasons) " i was in the car today and happened to look at the clock when it was 11:11. i am superstitious and whenever i catch that time on the clock i always get the feeling something important is going to happen so i get to campus and what do i see on fb? the art of letting go, 11.11! i'm so clairvoyant "

There's not a worse time for her to attempt to relaunch this project. It's like one awful decision after another lately.

I agree with that if anything the album should've been released in November not a single, a smart label would've held off, they are sloppy. Nothing new there I'm just hoping the music is great and if she can follow up #beautiful with another strong single then there is hope we getting a great album. I have given up on success and numbers with her until the business end of it is sorted out.
She needs to call Jay-Z and pick his brain.

Was this a ballad produced by JD or is this the track she did with Rodney Jerkins? Rodney, which means strong melody and pop-friendly.

Most people hated "Triumphant", but I loved it. I loved the video, and the remix package was out of this world. Surely, this release will top that.

So is this a new lead single or a Facebook buzz single. I feel like Mariah is moving away from the album business model and focus on just releasing songs for fans randomly

^Well, if its a success, it will be considered a full on single. If it flops, it will be a buzz single.
Honestly I don't know what to expect. I enjoyed #B a lot, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up too much for this. Guess only time can tell now.
