Typical pop/rock country. I had high hopes for this one. >:( Well I don't know what you were expecting, but this is no different than any other uptempo song out there. Country with some rock hint to it. This is no different than anything else. I really don't know what everyone's definition of country is. But all I know is that my definition allows country to have some pop and rock influences. Country has had those influences since it began.

I finally got the chance to hear the clip and from that 30 seconds.. I think it is a perfect 'comeback' song for her. Yes... perfect. Fitting lyrics, great sound.
XM Nashville 11 was playing "Someone Else's Dream" earlier today. She is never going to sound like that again... and frankly, I am glad. Her voice and depth has matured beyond that sound. I am personally glad this will be less 'Cry' and more 'Faith'/'Breathe,' but I trust she will still have some surprises on this CD. I can't wait to hear the rest.

I just heard the full song, and I love it. Much better than the sound she moved to with the Cry album, but she doesn't go back to her earlier sound, which I'm glad for as well. It's country, but you can tell that she's grown as an artist from her debut material. The song's obviously written for her and her alone, and she sounds great and convincing singing it. Welcome back, Faith - country radio should eat this up.

You can download it for a limited time at this radio site: www.us963.com/ Like someguy said, this lyrics are specifically written for her and they really work. I love it.. it doesn't sound like those songs that'll get annoying fast! -- Faith Hill - Mississippi Girl It's a long way from Star Mississippi To the big stage I'm singing on tonight And sometimes the butterflies still get me When I'm in the spotlight And some people seem to think that I've changed That I'm different than I was back then But in my soul I know that I'm the same way That I've really always been Cause a Mississippi girl don't change her ways Just cause everybody knows her name Ain't big headed from a little bit of fame I still like wearin my old ball cap Ride my kids around piggy pack They might know me around the world But ya'll I'm still a Mississippi girl Well I spend a few weeks in California They put my face on a big movie screen But that don't mean I've forgotten where I came from That's just me chasin dreams Cause a Mississippi girl don't change her ways Just cause everybody knows her name Ain't big headed from a little bit of fame I still like wearin my old ball cap Ride my kids around piggy pack They might know me around the world But ya'll I'm still a Mississippi girl Cause a Mississippi girl don't change her ways Just cause everybody knows her name Ain't big headed from a little bit of fame I still like wearin my old ball cap Ride my kids around piggy pack They might know me around this world (that's alright) But ya'll I'm still a Mississippi girl

yuk - her hair looks like its just dredged the bottom of the mississippi ! She looks TIRED in that pic. For her, the song is ok, but nothing I would really stay on a station for if they played it. I see it going top 10, top 5 if she's lucky.

I just listened to the full version. I like it. Sorta uneventful. I like it better than Sara Evans' new song and at least it's a move back to 'countrier' sounds. I'll hope there's amazing stuff on the album.

Just because she's Faith Hill doesn't mean she needs to have her hair and make-up done professionally. She's a mississippi girl.

I hate to tell you this, but that hair and make-up was done professionally.
I doubt Faith would do that to herself, it least I hope not.
Someone around her should start telling her when she looks terrible. Her odd haircuts, bleached-too-white hair, and now this new...look...prove that she needs someone to tell her when she looks bad.
One thing is for sure. I never want to go to the hair and make-up people that Faith uses.
Just terrible.

I think the song is a bit self-indulgent. Although, I will say John Rich is a great songwriter...Faith Hill does not fit in the whole Music Mafia click. She's a wantin' a hit so she's following in the footsteps of the trend and Getting back to her roots (pun intended) ;)

I don't know if it's a bandwagon move or not, but since Tim has become friends with Big & Rich, it makes sense that Faith might have gone to John Rich to write something. What's the big?
People are going to complain no matter what Faith does... same with Shania, Lee Ann, Leanne, Martina. It's what we do to female country artists. They can't win.
I realize Faith has changed styles with most every CD. I also know that many of us complained that Martina's 'Martina' was same-ole, a big yawn. I am happy to hear something fresh, timely, country, and fun from Faith, featuring her amazing voice.
Oh, and the hair... whatever. It's also fun. Everyone thinks she's a big glam girl now, so she's showing another side. I love the jeans and T-shirt. She looks like a cute country girl to me.

People are going to complain no matter what Faith does I agree... and while I hate to become someone like this by bringing Shania into everything, but my how the tables would turn if this was Shania. Shania has had her fair share of fashion blunders (I'd say even more than Faith...) so those bashing her image should take a look at your own favorite star. Ok... I'm done.

After just one day, Faith's at #44 with a bullet of 282. This could debut inside the top 25 at this rate.

Nice try in bringing Shania into this one, but it was a failed attempt to start something. Ok. Now I am done.

Interesting how the Shania fans are already feeling "threatened" by her fellow poptry singer. And the fact that the new Hill song has already , in its debut week, peaked higher than Quitter, is just what they need to start finding fault in her looks, her marketing, etc.
Both Faith and Shania are trying to crawl back into a countryish sound and look, but Shania's video for Quitter, with its glossy Cosmopolitan Cowfolk and her grabbing her "talents" is the phoniest of the two. At least Faith can sing.
I can see this song going top five easily. (Quitter won't reach top 20 even, today it actually lost audience impressions again)

It's Francine again, using yet another new nickname until this one gets banned! Who is the REAL phoney?

Nice try in bringing Shania into this one, but it was a failed attempt to start something. Ok. Now I am done. Look, you know my history of posts. I'm not trying to start a fight or anything... God knows I was one of the only sane ones during the Francine posts. I'm sorry to have brought it up. And yes I know that others have problems with the photos too. It's hard not to post back with those posts. Especially for the members here who have some form of Shania in their names. It's hard not to touch on it, because lord knows Shania has had the same issues as Faith. I'm surprised the Shania fans aren't supportive of Faith... after all she's in a similar situation as Faith (Though one could argue that Faith is in a slightly better situation than Shania, but that's another topic). Again, sorry to bring it up and it wasn't an attack on anyone and I'm not trying to start something. Anyway, we better get back on subject before the mods close this thread! Again, what an amazing song and I'm so happy for Faith that she's appeared on mediabase at 25... way to go!!

All Shania talk is banned from this topic. Please focus on the song and artist at hand.
