So, I'm a little late posting this, seeing how this thread has been around for a while, but I have to say that I think this song is only okay... and I'm really disappointed in the video. Mississippi Girl in a designer gown? What do the butterflies have to do with it? How many more "live concert" style videos is CMT gonna play? Everyone's making those kind of videos these days. I'm scratching my head at this one. I wish the plot of the video was better. The song grows on ya, but certainly not the best Faith song that's been released. I hope the rest of her album is better because I've been a fan... even through the Cry album, which I thought was actually great music regardless of genre.

I totally agree with you, firedancer! I was kinda disappointed when I heard "Mississippi Girl" for the first time, and it hasn't really grown on me...! And I loved the "Cry" album. It probably would've sold better if people weren't expecting it to be a country album...!

This song is still on fire, having 150+ increases every day for the past week and a half. All you chart buffs... what are the chances she'll go #1? How long do you think Toby will be at the top spot? ... I'd love for both Sugarland and Faith to go #1. Think they can both do it? For about 3 weeks now momentum has been favoring Faith. In that time she's not lost her bullet, nor lost spins from a previous day, and only had one very tiny audience drop of 14,000 from a previous day. Sugarland's daily R&R performance during those same three weeks has been more erratic... They've lost their bullet 4 days, lost spins from the previous day 7 times, and dropped in audience 5 times. Faith's average bullet in the last three weeks is 100 more than Sugarland's, and her average daily spin increase is twice that of Sugarland's. If you just include the last 7 days, Faith has gained 1.3 million to Sugarland's 317,000. I've noticed before if a song has a series of good days followed by bad days that lasts for awhile, it can be a sign of running out of steam. I'm not saying Sugarland is peaking, but Faith has healthier looking vital signs right now. Sugarland has a comfortable 3.5 million audience lead as a cushion over her, though. It's anyone's guess how long Toby will be number one, but he's got the luxury of nobody breathing down his neck. Toby's over 6 million ahead of Sugarland, and as I mentioned they only gained about 300,000 this week. Since his song is so new and still testing extremely well, I don't see any reason for radio to drop his spins anytime soon.

Faith just passed Sugarland on the daily R&R. Meanwhile, about 7 million above her, Toby is moving back upward after dropping the previous two days.

Faith's audience numbers are down 18,000 today on the early AM R&R update while Sugarland jumped up 215,000 (the 6th largest audience jump today, so far). The result is that Sugarland is back at #2, after losing that position on Friday. Faith still has 12 more spins, but that's down from a 48-spin lead yesterday. Unlike weekdays when the morning and afternoon updates often don't change much, if at all, the numbers can change substantially on weekends so it's too close to call who will be #2 when the chart is finalized later tonight.

Faith is getting play from cuts off the album, and also her radio premerie so that will play a affect this week on MG. After the debut week, the playing of cuts from the album will stop and I think by then she will be in a postion to be the next #1. Toby is dropping now.
I wouldn't mind Sugarland getting one week at #1 before Faith gets #1.

I think this is so neat, Faith has a new site after not really having one for a long time. The front page is neat with woods and trees at night and the lights of fireflies and the sound, cool. What is neat under music, on her Fireflies album not only can you hear a clip, but she tells what the song means to her, then goes on to list the lyrics, the songwriters even gives a bio of them and some of their work and even a link to the songwriters website. That is so cool. www.faithhill.com/ff_des/music/fireflies/lyrics/wish_for_you.htm

Also, there are numerous errors, typos, and misspellings...Cameros for Camaros, steel for steal, and breathe for breath...to name a few. The last one tickled me. Freudian hit slip, I guess. ~ Jim, the lyrics mavin

On the Jones Radio Networks, they mentioned it was one of the top songs on iTunes.

I don't think anybody here has access to mid-week Billboard (BDS) chart information. As of Monday morning, Toby's lead over Faith was a little bit more than 4.4 million impressions, down from 6 million the week before.

She is at #3 for the chart ending August 7th; I know this is updated because Gretchen moved.

This is quite a combeack single under any circumstances, since it could win up as the biggest single by a female vocalist this year.
With only 10 weeks to go in the R&R/Mediabase chart year, she's only some 30,000 spins behind the year's biggest single by a female, 'My Give A Damn's Busted'.

Well she won't catch Ms. Messina for having the biggest single of the year by a female vocalist, but having BOTH of them back on the radio (as well as GREAT CDs and singles from Lee Ann Womack and LeAnn Rimes) is absolutely awesome!!!!!!
