Anyone who saw the doc would understand now why there wasnt a huge promotional push for this album. It was obviously aimed to aid in the Vegas stuff, and i don't see anything wrong with that. They could've done the Vegas thing without an album but at least we got one.

Based on her release track record, a new album would have been forthcoming, anyhow (there was only one notably large gap between studio albums, and that was during the meltdown years). But, sure, it aids in the promotion for the Vegas gig.

If they chose to still push this song after the freeze, they should start pushing the dreaming mix. The radio mix isn't currently resonating w/ the public like they had probably hoped. Why not just push the dreaming mix? They don't really have much to lose at this point. They are evidently testing out "Body Ache" as well . Hopefully nothing comes of it. If they have to go with an uptempo of that nature, they should go w/ "Tik Tik Boom". They should go with Alien. A generic EDM track is going to do absolutely nothing for her right now with the era gasping it's dying breaths. And given that this flopped Passenger wouldn't be a good choice either since they're similar types of songs. Oh, I definitely agree but if they were to go w/ one of the uptempo dance tracks, TTB is definitely their best best imo. I would love for "Alien" to be a single honestly. Honestly, I wish it had been the lead single. I freaked out a little when she mentioned how it was going to be a single. I loved how strongly she felt about somehow working it into the show. You can really tell how that it resonates w/ her and that it's one of the songs on BJ that is genuinely personal to her. I just hope that they don't play it safe like they did w/ Perfume. The radio mix really hampered its performance imo, and the accompanying video certainly didn't help matters. Perhaps they should clean up the vocal production a little bit but that's it. Then give us a visually beautiful video with an amazing concept. There is so much potential for this song, they better not eff it up if it becomes a single.

I think she's just going to take a year or two off once the residency ends to settle down and have kids. I don't think Britney Jean is her last album by any means (how many more is she contracted to, if any?) but I can see a full five years between this and her ninth album, which might be necessary for public interest to be renewed and for her to be inspired to get back into the studio.
If the documentary showed us anything though, it's that she is very hands on with the day-to-day creative process behind the performances for Vegas and her career in general. And she did seem to genuinely be excited about the re$idency so I'm not sure I buy the "she's not into it anymore". She is sick of the promotional, press, media aspect, I'm sure, like any other vetern pop star probably is, but that doesn't take away that she still sees performing and singing as her main passion. However, after 15 straight years of it, she wants to take a breather and move on to something else for awhile after the Vegas gig. I mean how many times have we heard of a pop star, rapper etc "retiring" from the business and then returning a few years later with a new album, tour, single.

I'd say 22 at least, considering things like Star Search and the Mickey Mouse Club.

Very true. Even when she took a break to do the whole housewife thing in '05-'06 she was being hounded by the press and paparazzi. Now that she can actually live a much more low key private life, she can finally experience as close to a "normal" life as Britney Spears is able to do. I think she truly learned from her dark period and that living in LA, during that personal turmoil, only jaded her even more which is probably why she'll settle down outside of LA.

wheres the radio updates the last two days? or is it doing so bad no one wants to post them? again...this song is so good...not sure why it isn't becoming a hit...shame.
though I must admit...she hasn't promoted it so it doesn't deserve I guess to do well
though beyonce didn't promote her surprise album and it sold like hotcakes...how do ppl like beyonce and not Britney? (though beyonce is there and doesn't seem out of it, where Britney still has something missing)

When your 15 year career is based on lip syncing, no one is going to forget. Beyonce was once.

When your 15 year career is based on lip syncing, no one is going to forget. Beyonce was once. I was going to argue but your comment is valid. The girl can sing but she chooses to lipsync instead. I think people grow tired when they see the same thing over and over again. Not really all that fair to the musicians who actually sing live. But I still love Britney, she's a sweetheart. I met her once at a signing and she was the most pleasant person to be around.

Loved the documentary. I see how busy she really was and I still think she needs a better marketing team behind her especially with her situation/ status. Her team is way too old school. Look at Beyonce just wow! When will we get Alien? After Alien Passenger or TTB/ BA. At this point it's just a fun fan era.

I dont even think it has anything to do with her lipsynching. Its just she has this iratherbeathomeandspendtimewithmykids cloud about her. I think its off-putting to the some of the gp. You can be happy with being a mom and excited about your music at the same time like Beyonce but it comes pretentious with Britney. You can just tell that shes at her most happiest with her kids. If she was really excited and happy with her music/career, I no doubt believe she would be having more impressive sales. But I did love that she wanted to inlude Alien to the setlist. She needs more of that type of control

She needs more of that type of control Like it's been said a few posts back, I think she is still excited about performing and creating music. She is just burnt out at having to constantly promote it, which is fairly normal for longtime pop stars. I think Britney Jean was just the exception because she's focused on Vegas. Circus and Femme Fetale were both good records.

After initially finding the song merely pleasant, I'm now currently addicted to it and have played it non-stop over the past few days. I just love how she sings, "I'll never tell, tell on myself but I hope she smells my perfume/I hide it well, hope you can tell but I hope she smells my perfume" part. I could listen to just that part all day.

Yeah, send out the dated Femme Fatale b-side. Great plan. What would you suggest then? 3. It Should Be Easy 4. Alien Even though I'm not crazy about It Should Be Easy, it's the most current sounding out of her options and I think it's the one radio will eat up the most. I would suggest the smash that is "Tik Tik Boom." I really don't think it's a smash. I like the song, but it's very 2006 and I don't think it will do as great as everyone thinks.

I don't hear how it's any less modern than "Dark Horse." 2006, though? 2009 maybe.

This album is dead in the water but I don't doubt that she could MAYBE pull off a decent hit if they give "Til It's Gone" an actual push come January (unlikely). The focus is on Vegas. A better bet would be that they release a totally new album next Christmas season but I think she's done recording for awhile- Vegas is where the money's at these days.
"It Should Be Easy" has the will.i.am tag and is fine as an album track but radio won't play it just because he's featured on it. I mean, how many, if any, legitimate solo hits has he had outside of "Scream and Shout"? "Scream and Shout" is a much bigger record and radio-ready than "It Should Be Easy" is, and has a greater number of hooks.
"Tik Tik Boom" is just so basic that I can't even imagine it out-performing "Perfume" with diminishing returns in effect. Same with "Body Ache".]

'Til It's Gone' is this album's only potential hit. 'It Should Be Easy' is awful, and while 'Alien' is a great song, it just isn't single material. 'Tik Tik Boom' and 'Body Ache' would probably do okay, but they're both a little too been-there-done-that. The rest of the tracks on the album aren't even worth mentioning as possible singles.
EDIT: Oops, I forgot about 'Passenger'. I don't think it's single material, either, but I'd prefer to see it released over any of the above songs bar 'Til It's Gone'.
