Not really. Gaga's singles sales haven't been great for a while now. I know Pulse is supposed to be "above" this but that's literally my favorite gif, even without the text.

Somehow I don't think Eminem is gonna be #2.

search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AnszEo6e9VEb0TZsRDcmbFWbvZx4?p=pulse+music+board&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-169Lady Gaga Still Heading for No. 1, Beatles Set for 31st Top 10 Album By Keith Caulfield, L.A. | November 15, 2013 7:14 PM EST As reported earlier this week, Lady Gaga's "ARTPOP" album seems destined for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart next week, securing the diva her second chart-topping set. Presently, industry sources forecast the album to sell around 240,000 to 250,000 by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Nov. 17. That's down slightly from its 260,000 projection on Wednesday (Nov. 13). As we've noted previously, sales forecasts often change throughout the week, based on many variables. The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The new album was released on an Monday, Nov. 11, bucking the trend of most albums hitting retail on a Tuesday. Because of Lady Gaga's move to Monday, most other albums that were scheduled for a Tuesday, Nov. 12 release were also moved up one day to Monday. "ARTPOP" follows Gaga's No. 1-debuting "Born This Way" in 2011, which launched with 1.1 million sold (a number amplified by a temporary 99-cent sale deal by Amazon MP3). Overall, "ARTPOP" will rack up the fifth top 10 set for Gaga, who previously notched top 10s with her first album "The Fame" (No. 2 peak in early 2010), "The Fame Monster" (EP) (No. 5 in 2009), "The Remix" (No. 6 in 2010) and "Born This Way." Eminem's current chart champ, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," will likely fall to No. 2 with around 210,000 for the week. The second-highest new entry will probably be the new "Now 48" compilation, which could start with around 90,000 to 100,000. All 47 of the regular (numbered) "Now" albums have reached the top 10, and all but the first debuted in the top 10. The last "Now" set, "Now 47," debuted at No. 2 with 82,000 sold in August. Also set for a top 10 debut: the Beatles. The Fab Four's new "On Air - Live at the BBC, Vol. 2" album should give the act its 31st top 10 set. The album is forecast to sell around 35,000. The group last charted a new top 10 effort back in 2006 with the release of "Love," the companion album to the Cirque du Soleil stage production based on the Beatles' music. If "On Air" debuts in the top 10, the Beatles would remain in fourth place on the all-time list of acts with the most top 10 albums. The Rolling Stones have the most, with 36. They are followed by, currently, Frank Sinatra (33), Barbra Streisand (32) and the Beatles (30, at the present). On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Eminem is No. 1, while Lady Gaga is No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. Because of how Building Chart is compiled, the rankings can sometimes be misleading in relation to what the final Billboard 200 will look like. The chart was further complicated by this week's off-cycle Monday release schedule. For example, while Gaga is ranked at No. 2 on the Building chart, she is indeed heading for a No. 1 debut once the official SoundScan sales figures have been tabulated. And, though the Beatles are No. 10, it's likely the group will end up slightly higher on the list.

I don't understand at all. Seems Billboard is in Denial. Well, judging by your name and post history, I would say you're more likely to be in denial. Do we have numbers from elsewhere that suggest otherwise? But looking at who we're dealing with, maybe Billboard is putting it off the influx of crazy Gaga stans who will try to rip them down for predicting Gaga won't be number one - at least until it's 110% certain.

Someone needs to update the predictions in the title. Someone did this at UKMix. A little pssimistic: This is how I see a weekly breakdown until the end of 2013: Week 1: 260,000 Week 2: 80,000 Week 3: 55,000 Week 4: 40,000 Week 5: 50,000 Week 6: 65,000 Week 7: 50,000 Total: 600,000 I think the second week drop will be huge. Around 125k of the 245k it's selling this week (lbr, it's probably going to end up selling 225-230k at this rate, but let's stay optimistic and say that it ends up seling 245k) are from preorders, meaning she's only selling around 120k new copies this week. If you count a 65% drop on that, you're left with 42k for next week. I'd even say 65% would be a pretty modest drop, considering how fast the predictions are falling the non-preorder sales must be incredibly frontloaded as well, even though the big stans preordered. Then there's also the fact that the predictions keep falling, so she'll probably sell even less non-preorder copies this week, and it's a 7 day week which also amplifies the second week drop... I hope and think she'll at least get 50k next week, but I wouldn't be surprised with under 40k.

Seems that they have lowered the projections for both Gaga and Eminem so nothing indicates that Eminem would be #1.

The way this is going, I wouldn't be surprised if the final tally ends up slightly below 240,000. ARTPOP has been trending downward for the entire week, so there's a good chance it will continue.

Thank God ARTPOP is gonna see a #1 despite the disappointing sales. I feel like Monsters would set the world on fire if this bowed at #2 for Eminem's 2nd week.

YOUR TOP 15 (PLUS ONE): Universal appears headed to having an unprecedented nine of the Top 10 albums on next week's chart, with Lady Gaga (seen at right with the co-stars of her upcoming holiday special) leading the pack. Kelly Clarkson's holiday album, Wrapped In Red, is the lone non-UMG title. We don't believe this has ever happened in the modern charting era. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: *Lady Gaga (Interscope) 240-260k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 200-220k *Now 48 (UMe) 95-105k The Robertsons (EMI Nashville) 60-65k Katy Perry (Capitol) 45-50 Kelly Clarkson (RCA) 40-45k *The Beatles (Capitol) 35-40k Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic) 30-35k Lorde (Lava/Republic) 30-35k *Jhene Aiko (Def Jam/IDJ) 30-35k Celine Dion (Columbia) 27-30k Miley Cyrus (RCA) 25-28k Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 24-27k Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 19-22k Imagine Dragons (KidinaKorner/Interscope) 17-20k Arcade Fire (Merge) 17-20k Meanwhile, the 50-year anniversary of the Beatles' arrival in the U.S. makes us feel really freakin' old. (11/14p) Oof, no numbers for Kellie Pickler?

I wonder if Paul Grein will say that Gaga's opening is comparable to 700k a decade ago, like he said for Katy?

Online listening/streaming/illegal downloading has been around for years, but it is probably the unfortunate evolution. Here's to vinyl sales continuing to increase and a resurgence in spinning records. (or, that people just start buying more CDs, which isn't showing signs of happening). I don't buy as many CDs as I once did- but I'm also not illegally downloading. There just isn't much out there that's compelling me to buy (that and not as willing to toss out $ as I used to).

I am not sure I believe illegal downloading is as big now as people think it is. If the #1 song can sell 300,000 copies on any given week, that would tell me that these are songs people are paying for. Streaming in recent years especially has taken a bite out of digital purchases I think more so than illegal downloading. Grabbing a random file from the internet on file sharing sites is free but comes with risks. Random files from file sharing sites might come with an unwanted virus as well. The physical product however, is declining and will continue to decline because digital is becoming the norm. The same thing is starting to happen in the DVD market as well.

*insert the speech about adding paid streaming to album chart calculations here* I wonder how long before Billboard adds a separate album streaming chart? Based on say 40% or more of album would have to be streamed and then units would be ranked proportionately. For example, if two people stream - six tracks of 12 are streamed, counts as 50% each, if one person streams 12 of 12 (obviously 100%), but these three count as "two" streaming units. It would have to be separate from album chart since that is sales based. It would be interesting to track.

The same thing is starting to happen in the DVD market as well. 'Tis true. Most of the blockbuster movies are shifting around 2-3 million copies sold, far below the average 10-12 million most would sell a decade ago. That Ultraviolet program has a few bugs that needs to be worked out, though. It's very easy to stream your music anywhere, but I have to jump through hoops to stream my Ultraviolet collection. The movie business probably hopes to have greater revenue come to them from streaming than the music industry does, which is why it's not easier to do these things.

I'm still reeling from getting punk'd by that stupid examiner.com article about Ga (it was originally on Yahoo and I thought it was SF Examiner). Whatever. With Ga's sales, I'm expecting that the project will have longevity. Just look at how well Applause has held up - through combination of clever marketing tie-ins (Kia/NBA), which boosted callout scores. Now the transition to DWUW, which also has the headphones tie-in, which should help the project have some nice sales through holiday season as airplay picks up. The song is nothing like Applause so that should open the project to new consumers.
