Shania fan I have noticed no matter what is being talked about you have to find a way to bring Shania into the topic. Why is that? We are allowed to have any opinion we want, but it seems to me any opinion you have some how goes back to Shania. Why is that?
Based on these 4 songs I 100% disagree that it is anything like UP. Even this Shania fan said they were country, well IMO that makes it impossible to be like Shania since IMO she is far from being anything resembling country. That is my opinion. like you said.
Also you see how this Shania fan totally ignored my comment about the duet when I called them out on that. There is nothing uptempo about it and in fact it is a very sad, heartwrenching, country love gone bad song. It is actually kinda strange to hear Faith and Tim sing in the song, "Don't you have the slighest feeling left for me".
I just wish once we could have a thread on Faith without this person always finding a way to bringing Shaina into the topic. Is that to much to ask.
The truth will be out in three weeks now won't it. The songs I've heard are nothing like UP< Martiana, Breathe, but IMO go back to her sound of Faith, her 1998 album.
Please Shania fan can we have a topic here on Faith without you injecting Shania in to it. They are as different as night and day, in their voice, style, everything.

He thanks. I have heard all the songs all the way through but the duet. And you can disagree, that's why we live in America ;)
And if the duet was heartwrentching by music, it would be a slow piano ballad with steel and guitar. This is more of a "Let's Make Love" sound. The lyrics maybe be that message of which you speak of, but the music isn't.
I didn't bring Shania into it. I was comparing it. Should I have just said it sounds like "Breathe"? My bad.. (And you it was you that got Shania's thread closed by dragging in Tim..

Please I have to laugh, the duet is like a Let's Make Love sound, that is so funny. You are so fuill of it. Like you said, you HAVEN'T HEARD the song all the way through, probadly only that 20 second clip of the chorus. Well in the last week I've probadly heard it a 100 times and in fact I'm listening to it right now. Boy do I love that steel guitar in the song, the sadness and ache in their voices. Love that tear in Faith's voice when she says "Like we've never loved before" Love the country feel and music, the steel guitar and almost acoustic sound in the song.
Tim and Faith in their career have NEVER done a song like this at all, it is the most country duet they have ever done, and is close as you can get to the old time breakup duets of the past. If it resembles anything, it is Angry All The Time. Don't take my word, listen to it in 3 weeks when the album comes out in 3 weeks.
Thanks for the laugh.
It is going to be fun, when the song is out and you proven so wrong.

This would be why you are known around the Internet country music community, because no one is ever right unless they agree with you...sad
And for your gracious comments, I am going to listen to it right now.

Ok, the song is good. But there isn't much steel..lol. And sorry I was wrong. This isn't "Let's Make Love", this is "Just To Hear You Say That YOu Love Me" and "It's Your Love", that kind of duet.
I'm done now until the song comes out.

It is funny how you compare it to songs that are all about love that is so grand when this song is just the opposite. It is a breaking up song, a painful song. A end of a relationship, please tell me how, "It 's Your Love " is about breaking up and not being in love anymore.
I would still like to know why Shania is brought up in almost every thread you post on especially when it deals with Faith? Can you please answer that?

I said I'm done BUT I said the style of duet, not the meaning of the song, read with your eyes and not your Tim/Faith goggles. And the Shania thing, as I have already explained, is a comparison. Shania is the example now, because she is the most successful. Okay? And we aren't going to argue over that..if you really must, PM me.

Please point out to me the Shania topics I post on here and bring up Tim. I rarely talk about Tim on this board except one thread. This Shania fan goes all over this board injecting Shania'a name. Tim is not talked alot about on this board and even you must see that.

As much as people on here know I can't stand Faith, I try to give her a chance with every new album she puts out. I downloaded Fireflies and listened to it and I thought it was horrid and not country at all--not even folk. I refuse to listen to the duet since it has Tim in it and some of the other songs I could have dlded, which I think were some listed, just have stupid titles so I didn't waste my time. I ended up deleting Fireflies right away and have no desire to listen to anything from that album.

Thank you Steelo and ShaniaGotchaGood - having not been here long I wasn't sure where to look for proof - but I knew it was there.
kyhomeg - I was not trying to attack you - just simply wanted to point out the obvious. You do it all the time - you bring up one or both of the McGraws in threads about others and call people idiots when they don't feel the same way you do. I like Faith, I like Tim and I like Shania - but they are not the first ones I would choose to listen to when asked what I want to hear - Alan Jackson is. I have not heard any of Fireflies except for Mississippi Girl - which I really like - so I won't comment on the rest of the album - but please - just once - let others decide for themselves whether or not they like it - and don't jump all over them and call them IDIOTS when they say they don't like it. Not everyone likes the McGraws - but there is nothing wrong with that - we all have our own tastes okay?

I usually like Faith's albums, but I really, really hated Cry and I fear that I'm also not going to like Fireflies. As Steelo said, a ton of the songs have very odd song titles that don't entice me at all and I just feel that the album isn't going to be very country besides the lead off autobiographical power single.
All the posts about how great the album is by the Tim and Faith worshipper makes me even more skeptical. If it was really that great, would it have to be proven 800 times?! Wouldn't it makes sense to let other people decide and not tell them that their opinion is WRONG?! If one is so quick to already say they think others are 'wrong'...you gotta think alot of people are going to be 'wrong' come August 2nd...

I will not post about this album again and no mention of Faith's album again from me. I have heard 4 songs from the album, and I know people that have heard more. They taped a premerie of the album at the Ford Theatre at the Counry Music Hall of Fame last night. There was over 250 fans there that won tickets through a radio contest(local). Lon Helton(countdown guy) was the one that was the host and Faith was there talking about the album, her plans, the songs, the songwriters and showcasing 8 songs from the album.
I know people that were there, Faith was her usual down to earth funny self, and the crowd was great. The album is 100% not as POP as her last two albums, way toned down in production. It is not as country as her first album, it is in the middle, but different than anything she has done before, but Faith.
This showcase will air ON radio from 28th-30th, check your local radio station for times. You will hear the interview and hear 8 songs. I don't have to say another word the songs will speak for themselves and you will either love them or hate them. I don't have to defend them, you can make up your mind on your own, just listen to the radio permerie its FREE.

While I have only heard Mississippi Girl so far - and I like the song - I don't think it is PURE country - it is more country than what she had done before - but it is not PURE country as in music done by the likes of Loretta Lynn. That being said - this part is what irks me (and others I'm sure) That's true - you don't have to defend them - but please - let us make up our own minds.

I can't wait to hear the new music. If I might say so, I think we're getting a little nitpicky around here. kyhomeg seems to be trying to be fairly neutral in the post. I too get annoyed by fans who CONSTANTLY rave, no matter the thread topic, about their particular favorite, but there is nothing wrong with having an opinion. After all, isn't that why most of us frequent boards such as this? That said, I am looking forward to Fireflies... and absolutely intrigued by what the industry and country fan response will be to its release.

KMCB - I definitely agree with you that there is nothing wrong with everyone having an opinion. It's great to get others views on cd's - it helps to decide whether or not you wish to buy it (at least in my case). My big problem is the fact that kyhomeg gets very upset when people voice an opinion different from hers - if you don't LOVE the cd as she does your opinion is WRONG and you are an IDIOT - I've seen this on many boards she posts on or has posted on - it's her official MO!

Faith Hill Featured in Upcoming ‘Highway 16 ShortCuts’ Music superstar Faith Hill sat down for a one-on-one interview with XM Satellite Radio's Jon Anthony Tuesday in Nashville. Their conversation will air on XM's "Highway 16 ShortCuts" the weekend of July 29th. Faith's sixth album, Fireflies, goes on sale August 2nd. "Faith was very open and gracious as we went through every song on the CD, giving the XM Nation her perspective on the music, her other projects, and her children," said Anthony. "It was an incredibly personal interview. I can't wait for her fans to hear it -- and the music -- the weekend before Fireflies goes on sale." "Highway 16 ShortCuts" airs each Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 6 p.m. Eastern on XM Satellite Radio's Highway 16.

Singer Faith Hill reclaims her country roots (Reuters, Saturday July 16) NASHVILLE (Billboard) - Who is Fern Holloway? If you're one of the handful of insiders in her organization, you know that is the alias under which prereleases of Faith Hill's new CD, "Fireflies," were sent to members of her management team and label. After Hill's last album, 2002's "Cry," leaked out on the Internet ahead of its official release date, her organization made plans to keep the new album under wraps until just before its Aug. 2 release.
After all, there's a lot riding on a project that, if all goes according to plan, will be Warner Bros. Nashville's blockbuster for this year and well into next. ADVERTISEMENT
"Fireflies" is Hill's sixth album. Each of her previous projects has a multiplatinum certification from the Recording Industry Assn. of America, so expectations are equally high here. Her last two albums each debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Like Hill's last few albums, "Fireflies," contains a mix of musical styles. But it is arguably the strongest collection of songs she has ever put together.
Country radio programmers who complained that there was nothing they could play on "Cry" will discover a wealth of potential singles. And fans who know Hill from her pop crossover hits are likely to find something to like on this CD as well.
BACK TO WHERE IT BEGAN
The first single, "Mississippi Girl," returns Hill solidly to the country format where her career started and continued even after she became a crossover star, beauty magazine cover girl and Hollywood actress.
The biographical "Mississippi Girl" is No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart this week and the fastest-rising single of Hill's 12-year career. If it reaches the summit, as it is expected to do, it will be Hill's ninth No. 1 country hit. She has also had eight top 10 hits in adult contemporary radio.
Big & Rich's John Rich, one of Nashville's hottest songwriters, contributed "Mississippi Girl" and two other songs to the album, including likely next single "Like We Never Loved at All." The latter includes guest vocals from Hill's husband and fellow country star, Tim McGraw.
On tour with McGraw last summer, Rich says he followed Hill around asking her questions until he had enough material to write "Mississippi Girl," which even includes a verse about Hill's first small acting role in the film "The Stepford Wives."
Hill agrees with Rich's version of events, noting, "It kind of sounds like a stalking, doesn't it?"
But it paid off for Rich, who wrote the song with Big & Rich guitarist Adam Shoenfeld.
"To be able to write a song that gives somebody like Faith Hill an entrance back into where she wanted to (be) -- good lord -- that's bigger than getting an ASCAP check," Rich says. "It's a silver bullet back at the target she was wanting to get back to with her music. I'm in awe of her talent."
Hill says "Mississippi Girl" expresses just who she is. "I'm a very simple, approachable, nice, good person who just happens to have a big career," she says. "I've had an incredible climb and done things that even I could never dream that I would ever do, but I have remained the same person."
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SONGS
Regardless of country radio's reaction three years ago, Hill says she remains proud of the "Cry" album. "It was definitely a different record, but I had to make that record and I am so proud of it," she says.
Once the recording process on "Fireflies" drew to a close, Hill was startled to realize that it had taken two years.
"I was just kind of lost in the whole process and I didn't realize that we had been working on this album for that long," she says. "Towards the last six months it all started to fall in place."
Hill says the strength of her albums comes largely from the songs she chooses to cut, since she is not a songwriter herself.
"I rely completely on the songs that are brought to me in order to make an album," she says. "It just took this long to figure out what it was I wanted (those songs) to say."
Hill recorded more than twice the 14 songs that made it to the album. But she says all the songs she chose for the final cut are "me in some kind of way."
In addition to Rich, "Fireflies" contains songs from many of Nashville's A-list writers including Rivers Rutherford, Darrell Scott, Craig Wiseman and Troy Verges.
But Hill's secret weapon on this album is the discovery of singer-songwriter Lori McKenna. Until now a largely unknown talent, McKenna is about to become a hot commodity thanks to Hill's inclusion of three of her songs on "Fireflies," including the title song.
It was the discovery of McKenna's songs, Hill says, that put the whole album on track. In fact, Hill had once previously declared the album finished. But when she found McKenna's work, Hill called her co-producers and told them she wanted to go back in the studio.
"I think they all wanted to strangle me at that moment," she admits.
McKenna writes from the perspective of a woman old enough to have seen enough of life to have been disillusioned and inspired by it. The first song of McKenna's that Hill heard, "If You Ask," is one of the three she recorded.
"I really felt like I could interpret these songs. I feel like I wrote them," Hill says. "It's hard to make that connection sometimes. That's why, as an artist, I have to be really patient and be strong in what it is I want to do. Sometimes I just have to experiment with a lot of stuff and figure out what I want to say and how I want to say it."
Myself I can't wait for this album and I so thank Faith for introducing me to Lori McKenna's music. I now have 3 of her 4 albums and her songs and songwriting BLOWS ME AWAY. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing her songs on other artist's albums especially female artists.

The sun glare is a photoshop trick that takes about two seconds to master, yet in those pictures not only is it excessive and unattractive, but poorly executed as well.

TREADING CAREFULLY
Warner Bros. executive VP Bill Bennett says the label and Hill's team chose "Mississippi Girl" as the first single because they felt the song addressed "a lot of the issues people had with the last record, right or wrong."
Asked if he feels vindicated by country radio's warm embrace of this single, Hill's manager, Gary Borman of Borman Entertainment, chooses his words carefully.
" 'Vindicated' would suggest there was some anger," he says. Though Borman admits radio's reaction to "Cry" was frustrating, he now says the "frustration has been replaced with contentment that she's communicating with her fans [again]."
Treading carefully after country radio's reaction to "Cry," Borman and Bennett say there are no specific plans for singles to be worked to any of the pop formats. While Bennett predicts the adult top 40 format will embrace Hill yet again, he says, "We'll roll [this music] out organically" to other formats.
"We made a country record," Bennett insists.
Regardless of country radio's reaction three years ago, Hill says she remains proud of the "Cry" album. "It was definitely a different record, but I had to make that record and I am so proud of it," she says.
From the moment Bennett became executive VP of Warner Bros. Nashville last fall, he says he was constantly being asked when Hill's album would be ready. Now, he declares the finished project was worth the wait.
Borman credits Warner Music Group chairman/CEO Tom Whalley for his patience during the making of the album. "He stuck by Faith and has really let her explore and find the voice and the material that became this record," Borman says. "You can only imagine the pressure he was under to deliver a [Hill] record."
Once the recording process drew to a close, Hill was startled to realize "Fireflies" had taken two years.
"I was just kind of lost in the whole process and I didn't realize that we had been working on this album for that long," she says. "Towards the last six months it all started to fall in place."
Hill says co-producers Gallimore and Huff helped her find the right voice. "They're unafraid to try something."
Borman says the plan for "Fireflies" is to buck the current trend of putting all the marketing muscle into an album's first few weeks. The marketing team is instead opting for a long-range plan.
"The music business is starting to mirror the movie business in a lot of ways," Borman says, referring to Hollywood's emphasis on opening weekend box-office sales for films. "A record is judged on its first week rather than how it holds up and sustains itself."
Borman and his team have high expectations for the album's first-week sales. In fact, Warner Bros. plans on shipping about 1 million copies. However, he adds, "Let's just say we're not manic about it. I'm more concerned with where we are on this record in six months, 12 months and 18 months . . . Our fantasy is selling as many records in the third month as the first month."
Toward that end, Hill will be highly visible through the end of the year making TV appearances to promote the album. She also got some worldwide prerelease exposure July 2 via her performance at the Live 8 show in Rome.
Next up are appearances on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" (Aug. 2) and "Today" (Aug. 5), followed by a prime time NBC special set to air Nov. 23 in the United States.
Hill's team is working with CMT on some exclusive programming. Also scheduled are an AOL Sessions performance and a radio special recently taped in front of 250 Hill fans at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame.
Hill did not even know who Fern Holloway was when her team decided on the alias. One thing is for certain, Fern is a country star.
This comes from a Billboard article. Faith is the cover picture on the new issue of Billboard's magazine. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
